(Old) Tying up loose ends in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 75 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions. Then we shall indulge in RDOS inactivities. Sup will be provided over to the church house, so yay for that.

Hippie great news indeed!

shades good to hear from ya. Hope you survive the holiday drama.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That’s our secret!!!

No, I’m not rich. Just clever and funny.

From Wiki:

In September 2015, Shkreli was widely criticized when Turing obtained the manufacturing license for the antiparasitic drug Daraprim and raised its price to insurance companies from $13.50 to $750.00 per pill.

Not a nice person.

FCD woke around 4 and went out to the living room. That woke me, so I played on my tablet a while, even after he came back. Then I decided to see if I could fall back to sleep, and I did. I lapsed into a bizarre dream about putting gas into a bus (don’t they usually run on diesel?) then tipping the driver $20. There was also something about putting electric candles in the windows, and not being able to get to the screen I wanted on my phone. There were also camels. I defy any dream interpreter to figure that one out.

In about 90 minutes, I need to leave to pick up BIL, then after I’m done with him, I’ll go to Food Lion. Then, who knows?

Happy Wednesday!

By the way, Christmas is a week away, in case you’re like FCD and unaware of little details like that.

Already conceded somewhere above.

Aw, man, I recall an interview with I think a “failed” potential juror who wasn’t accepted because he was on record as saying Shkreli had “a punchable face” and, because that is a very true statement, the phrase stuck.

Smirking asshole.

I had a bit of a panic when I was taking my shower. I suddenly thought I’d accidentally taken the box that’s for my BIL with all the donated boxes. I was forming the phone call to the mission, hoping they still had that box. But once I was out of the shower, I went to the dining room and there was the box. WHEW!!! Panic averted.

It has an afghan made by his grandmother, a small statue of mountain lion heads, and 2 pictures of MIL and FIL - really the only things BIL wanted, tho he didn’t specifically ask. When we asked him, he said he’d like to have them. Anyway, I’ll be giving them to him today.

He really needs a haircut. There’s a small salon at the apartment complex, but since his mother didn’t like the stylist, she told him not to go there. And the reason she didn’t like the stylist is because of her advice. BIL doesn’t need a stylist - he needs shorter hair. I could take him to a barber, but I really don’t want to. I’ll try to encourage him to go to the one in his complex. Damned hippie! (N.O.H.,)

We got a coupon in email for a free appetizer at Texas Roadhouse that’s only good today. I’m thinking that might be good dinner plans - I’ll ask FCD. Yeah, like he’ll turn down Texas Roadhouse, with or without appetizer! (Surprise - he said “sure”)

20 minutes till I have to leave.

shades thanks for checking in. I noticed you hadn’t post in a while. Hope the Christmas madness isn’t too mad.

A dusting of snow overnight. The grass and trees look very pretty.

Lady SCAdian had a fall at work in late October. (She wasn’t actually working at the time, having already punched out for the day, but she was still on company property on her way from the building where her office is to the parking garage where she has to park.) Broken nose, concussion, fractured elbow, and a possibly fractured bone in her hand. She’s getting workman’s comp, but that’s based on her base pay; the other woman in the office had quit a couple weeks earlier, so she’d been getting overtime as well, doing the other woman’s job, so she’d losing out on that. She managed to get an appointment at neuro last week (~seven weeks after the fall). in the meantime ortho cleared her for work, so she went back last week. Neuro scheduled a follow-up in late January, but the symptoms have been getting worse, so last week she asked for an earlier appointment if possible. They called yesterday to say they’d had a cancellation and could fit her in this morning. She’s now off work again until her next appointment – seven weeks from now.

She also is supposed to avoid crowds and noise, so I’ll be doing the shopping alone. The next problem is that her parents moved to Philly in late October, so we’re planning to go down there for Xmas. By train. Which will probably be crowded and noisy.

At least they did give her the extra pay for Thanksgiving and the day after, so presumably she’ll also get the bonus for Xmas and New Year’s. That will help a little.

On the rent vs buy - I sold a home four years ago, and at that time my mortgage (including taxes and insurance) was about the same as what I ended up paying to rent. It’s a slightly smaller house but in the city instead of the suburbs, so houses cost a little more. Due to rising home prices and high interest rates, I would be paying ~$500 a month more to buy something similar to what I live in now. I keep waffling on if I want to try to buy next year.

A cold front came through so it’ll be a chilly, windy next couple of days. I shouldn’t complain - the daytime highs will be back in the 60s (~18c) next week. But since it’s been warmer than normal it’s been hard feeling like getting ready for Christmas.

But in good news I finally remembered to set up a humidifier in my bedroom last night and what a difference that made!

Congrats! That must be a relief.

@SCAdian I’m so sorry, that sounds just terrible to be dealing with. I hope she gets good news this morning.

Living near a lake-no fun.
It says rain/snow but I’m not seeing it.
Going to the store, thankfully my last 2 dollars will cover the bus trips.
Did about a third of my puzzle book already.
I try to space it out but no.

That was the bit about avoiding noise and crowds, and staying off work until late January.

Yum :yum:

Yay! :confetti_ball:
And thanks for the ed-ju-ma-kay-shun

ok, time to start boxing stuff up and taking to PO.

Not sure I want to jump over the Hump; time is going so fast these days. I need an extra day this week.

Morning all. Restless night but I stayed in bed until nearly 8am so it worked out. Another cloudy day with rain due around noontime and due to stick around most of the afternoon–at least it’ll be about 60F. Need to get garbage and recyclables out to the curb tonight, so that will be my main adulting for the day. Swimming and sauna are planned, but we’ll see what the weather is like when I am ready to leave

Hippie, very good news indeed!

boo fae, knew who Shkreli was, guess he got more press here that across the pond, but as others noted, yeah, he was a scumbag. Hope work isn’t too bad.

A happy discovery, I’ll wager.

shoe, what do you use to paint a box (if you say paint you will earn a Gibbs dope-slap), doubt it is what is slathered onto the walls.

shady, nice to hear from you, just hang in there you have only a week to go…

FCM, no dreams to report here, and shouldn’t you have gotten the tip instead? And I get those panic moments too where I think I lost something and it;s always right where I left it. Enjoy Texas Roadhouse, ours is always busy, but I prefer Longhorn Steakhouse by a little margin.

Herald, sorry to hear of your lady’s fall and apparent remission; hope this session gets her well.

Happy mailing, Cat glove

And time to get an apple (Gala) an break the nightly fast. Have a good hump day all.

I’ll find out whenever I get around to cracking it open!

Sorry I misread that!

Would noise cancelling headphones be a possibility for the train ride?

Cheapie acrylic paint, from Wal-Mart or the Dollah Sto’ and slathered on using old toothbrushes I save for just this purpose.

Michaelangelo, I am not.

whoa, that is a serious fall. concussions are tricky injuries. brain rest is difficult, you can block the exterior noise; the interior noise is much more difficult to block.

Sounds nasty, but I think you responded to the wrong person?

The usual heaving. There was a hella jam on the 100 belt at one point, which ment a wall of packages came down. It was a great deal foggy when I left, and I got gas. Now Spot and I shall nap.

To be fair, the system is a bit stacked against Mom getting rich.

Except then he’d be an even more insufferably egotistical SOB than he is now.

:100:

Yay for being alive, boo for the rest.

You do have a healthy glow about you.

I’m glad. Hope they can help.

Sitting outside Petco waiting for BIL to buy some fish stuff. Then I’ll take him home and do my groceries.

I haven’t crashed FCD’s car yet, so yay for that. It’s not that it’s hard to drive. It’s that I don’t know all the controls yet. I almost have cruise control figured out. I’ll get there.

She might be having post-concussion syndrome from a fall that bad. If the neurologist is suggesting no work for 7 weeks and avoid crowds and noise, it sounds like that might be what they are suspecting.

I’ve been dealing with post brain injury syndrome since my TBI :christmas_tree: Eve 2017. It can be a convoluted and slow recovery to navigate. Let me know via PM if you’d like some tips from someone who is walking that path. I recently traveled on an Amtrak long distance train for instance and can suggest some ideas to make that less discombobulating.
