Didn’t sleep very well last night after the heavy meal, wine and coffee. And I’ve been seething over the murder of that woman by ICE. Going to exercise was a tough get this morning.
Today we go on an ‘outing’ to pack lunches for kids. A couple of hours of worthwhile effort. I thought perhaps we would have ice on the roads this morning after last night’s rain, but apparently not.
Still under the weather, so taking a day off. I did just take Ms Peach to the vet to get weighed so’s we could get the right dosage of heartworm pills. She’d up to 54 lbs. I no longer believe the pitbull-whippet mix that the vet guessed at on her first visit.
I wore a mask cuz I didn’t want to infect the whole vet office.
My heat stopped working. Called maintenance. They said it wasnt the thermostat.
Though it had kept running without shutting off lately, like when I was on a different floor.
They said they will send someone and then I turned the dial on the stat and nice heat came out! Dial hadnt had any effect earlier.
I hate stress.
Church Guy offered to pay for a hotel room for me but thats not necessary.
Maintenance loaned me a space heater.
I took Nelson to the vet every other month for his first year for that. He thought it was fun because he got made over and a treat at the end.
I’m sorry about your friend, swampy.
Feel better soonest, emily!
My water was off for maintenance most of the morning, so I couldn’t do dishes or get cleaned up until about 1300. Now, I’m fixing to take Nelson out between showers outside.
Howdy Y’all! I did the things over to the church house this mornin’. Tom will have a Luterun funeral. His daughter is a Pastor and will officiate, which sounds like a nice thing. I would think it would be hard to officiate a service for a parent. If I got anything wrong, guess I’ll find out tomorrow. Since I was there longer than I thought I would be, I called OYKW to see if he preferred stoner food for lunch over majik intartoobz pizza for sup. Stoner food won, so I picked it up on the way back to da cave. Nappage was then needed.
MetalMouse conga rats on the nomination. You deserve the award.
And a good early evening to all. Spent some time at the gym along with tidying the house a bit, have had some cheese dogs to replace the sweated-off calories and will have my big bowl O’Salad sometime later in the evening. Indoor Soccer starts at 8am tomorrow so will be heading off to bed sooner rather than later tonight. Rain has departed for the moment but will make an encore appearance later tonight and into tomorrow morning.
FCM, my Mom used to call a strong downpour a ‘pounding’ rain and when I can hear it clearly on my roof I understand why. Never remember using ponding to describe a rainfall however…
Cookie, hope the packing went well and was well-organized. Kids will appreciate it, I am sure.
Van Go, what’s your opinion of the mix? I see the pitbull, otherwise maybe some setter/retriever genes?
Coppertone, hope you can stay warm until the repair is done.
swampy, thank you. I never campaign for any recognition, but it’s nice when others do recognize what you do.
And probably need to mix that Big Salad bowl up for the evening and prepare for the tackleball game. Have a good night all.
Very tired at the moment. Today was oral argument on one of the briefs I did back in November. Yesterday was working hard on prep until midnight, then up at 5.30 this morning to continue working on orals.
Court was originally set for 10 am, but got moved to 8:30 because a very well-respected judge of the court died recently, and celebration of life was this afternoon. Judge on my matter wanted to go to it, so all counsel worked hard to keep the submissions moving. Wrapped up at quarter to 1 and I was able to get to the hall. Didn’t have time to change, so went there wearing my vest and tabs. Non-lawyers were puzzled; lawyers and judges asked me what I’d been on that day.
Hall was packed. Deceased had a full life, big family, many activities outside of judging, lots of significant work as a judge.
If you have kindly vibes to spare, I’d be deeply grateful for any you might care to send my way. I got some very upsetting news concerning my daughter, who’s deeply hurt and whose marriage probably isn’t going to make it. There’s more to it than that, but that’s the gist. Any other news I might have had is unimportant and has flown right out of my head. I’m not concentrating very well now, either.
I’m grateful for all of you every day and for the MMP. I hope to be more sociable once my heart isn’t breaking for my girl.
Up from naptime. Spot napped with me for a bit. You know how cats will knead with their paws when they are content? Spot does that, but on my throat, with claws partially out. Very Dread Pirate Roberts of him “Goodnight primate, you were almost adequate today. I’ll probably kill you in your sleep.”
Anyways, I’m having a Shanghai Gin, lemon pepper whiting, and rice, peas and 'shrooms.
< vibes and hugs sent > {{{{nellie and nelliedaughter}}}}
To be fair, heavy rain would pound the roads as well.
nellie, I am so sorry. You have all the good thoughts and hugs from me you can stand, and your daughter, too.
metal mouse, very big and deserved congrats on the nomination for Lifetime Achievement Award! No one has earned it more! I hope you win.
And that game went about how I worried it would… ouch.
@EmilyG, I’m sorry for your health troubles and hope things improve soon!
piper, the judge sounds like a very fine person. It’s hard to lose such a one, but you’ve honored him well with your tribute here.
coppertone, glad the heating issues are better now. It’s scary when the heat isn’t working.
Well, today had a big ‘L’ written all over it for Yours Truly. I attempted my first loaf of sourdough in a decade. I remember why I got discouraged and gave up before. I mean, it’s edible and even tasty. But it’s not sourdough as I want sourdough to be. Not giving up, but I felt like Dante Moore after his first play on the field this evening when I pulled that loaf out of the oven.
Which was the second big ‘L’ of the day. Boy, did my team suck!
Yesterday was nice, though. Spent time with a good friend and had lots of laughs with her. More days like that, please!
