(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

Howdy Y’all! We had quality cee-mint pond time for a couple of hours. We won’t do so tomorrow, as we don’t generally think it’s a good idea every day. Nappage and day drinkin’ also happened. I made sup and it was soooooo nummy if’n I do say so myself. Plus leftovers for tomorrow!

JtC hope GG is over his UTI soonest, poor feller. Also, good on Harry’s daughter for reinin’ in the slobs and makin’ them take care of things.

MOOOOOOM hope Otis is better soonest, as well. I am sure it’s a generic name with many varied ways to make it. Were I to make it, I would add some heat cause we like a little heat. doggio’s version would be flammable.

rocker hope Lager is over his trauma by now.

red sorry your appointment had to be rescheduled.

Lily poor Shiso! Hope whatever it is, it’s not too serious.

Mollie so sorry about poor Buttercup!

We did not know there was such a thing, thank you for the suggestion. We are going to Charleston tomorrow, we now have PetSmart on our list of stops.

Thanks for the kind wishes for the big fuzzy one, I’m sure he will start feeling better by tomorrow morning. He got a shot and in our experience, proper medication makes kitties feel better quickly.

I can’t really shame the family for not thinking about the mess, they just lost someone they had loved all of their lives, traveled at least across the state if not two or three states and then slept on the floor because there are only three beds left in that house and Harry sleeps in one of them.

The daughter’s reaction when she figured things out was so funny and so expected coming from the folks who had raised her.

So I started cooking post-surgery fud today and the first thing that happened was my Alfredo sauce split. Damnit! All I did was look away for maybe 30 seconds and then there was no recovery. It was my fault, that recipe has worked so well for so long that I got too comfortable. That won’t happen again in this lifetime!

Late night final. Got both front and back yard mowed, so I have kept up with my next door neighbors, who have both mowed their lawns in the last couple of days. So let the rains come, I no longer will fret about my lawn being the shaggiest on the street (at least I won’t fret for about a week or so…). Some more World Cup soccer is on about 9pm (or 10 minutes for now), so I’ll probably watch some of that, then off to bed.

And have read all but absorbed little, so off to TV Land for awhile. Catch y’all tomorrow either before or after the Firday shopping (Pepsi 12-packs are buy 3, get 3 free again so as long as the expiration date works, I’ll let some weight-lifting in tomorrow…)

Got in cleaning mood and did the bathroom, kitchen, mopped floor. Its a studio so it doesnt take long.
I love this weather, it reminds me of my childhood.
Just sat around reading library books as theres nothing else to do.

I don’t know how well it would work for cats, but when I pill Nelson, he gets a *peanut butter taco *. I cut a strip of tortilla, cut the strip in three spread with peanut butter, put the pill in one and roll them. The rest is the treat-pill-treat setup

Skritches and hugs to all of the under the weather Mumpets and their hoomans.

Good wishes for all the pets.

Did I mention I wore a light shirt? Last time, I wore a dark suit (which I removed when I got home  ), and it was difficult to read the expiry date.

I don’t know why, but this just popped into my head: About 40 years ago, a friend told me that in Swedish, ‘cuke keckseh’ (phonetic) means ‘cock tease’. Taking a guess of the spelling, Google Translate says that ‘kuk hexe’ means ‘cock witch’. Any Swedish speakers here?

You rang?

I’m a couple of GnTs into it this evening, but I’ve been thinking about doing a “soft coming out.”

Should I change my username to:

  • Mollie_Magill

I was beginning to think that maybe Nelson was coming down with the Mumpet malaise, since he’s slept a lot today and not had much interest in treats. However, when we came in from the bedtime constitutional, he dove into his toy box and brought out one of his favorites for rousing games of fetch and tug-o-war. Methinks he’s getting readjusted.

Oh, that was my mother’s plan for me, because she hates that I work in a pizza kitchen.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 78 degrees Ferret Height(25.556 Centipedes). The high today is supposed to be 102 Ferrets(38.889 Centipedes)

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/60f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and cloudy. Weather app says “I often give zero fucks on days like this. Apparently, fucking Mother Nature also gives zero fucks.”

I reserve all of that for FB and Threads, where there are plenty of like-minded people

Cookie glad you had a productive visit with your niece, hopefully Mrs Cookie will be inspired to get out and about with you.

Nice graphic! Yes, you’re still learning to stand but we can see you’re doing a great job and taking things at your own pace.

WetOne our old boy, Shadow, used to get Solensia shots too. I think they do something to the nerves to block the feeling of pain. He used to be on a daily dose of something that was the feline equivalent of ibuprofen, which the vet stopped giving him because Solensia did a better job of it. Certainly put a spring in his little step.

JtC I hope George is soon feeling better! I used pill pockets for some of our mogs’ medications with varying levels of success. Cheese or ham worked just as well for some of them too.

Yesterday went as expected, TM has new things to complain about (and they’re always about her, even when they’re not). The dept meeting was tedious, they spent most of their time talking about things they can’t change, and had to fire through the second half of their agenda because they were out of time.

I got home without too much bother, did my evening chores, and retired to the sofa with Blossom. 'im indoors made chicken chow mein for dinner, he has enough beansprouts and noodles left for lunch today too. I had an early night because I was tired.

The Travel Gods were all in my favour today, and so far the office is quite peaceful. There’s only three of us in at the moment, might be one more person joining us later. I have stuff to do, just need to find the motivation to do it!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 and becomin’ cloudy by mid-afternoon. I shall betake myself to the church house this mornin’ to take care of candle and other duties. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities.

Coppertone when the mood to clean strikes one must, I suppose.

red glad Nelson is adjustin’ to bein’ back home and not ailin’.

Mollie if you feel it’s time, then it’s time. FWIW I voted for Mollie_Magill

And now this…

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall purtify and don acceptable attire. There should be no one else around, so shorts, tshirt, and sneaks should suffice.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy Birthday!

We had rain overnight (tho I never heard a drop) and the morning is starting at 69 Ferrets, heading to mid-90s again. A grand and glorious Laundry Day!!! And Happy FlyBoy Day!!

I know my mom wasn’t happy when I went into the Navy. She also wasn’t happy with the guys I dated - at least the ones I mentioned. She told me “I always hoped you’d marry Polish.” Really? I never understood the whole pure bloodline thing. But that’s a rant for another time. Anyway, I’m also sure she expected her 4 daughters to be SAHM - nary a one among us followed that path.

As for me, I just wanted my daughter out of my house!!! OK, seriously, I did my best to prepare her for the cold, cruel world, but her choices were her own. Apart from wishing she’d choose a little house cleaning on occasion, I think she’s doing OK.

My thumb and a bit of the adjacent hand are still a bit swollen and a bit warmer than the rest of the hand, but the itching and pain are pretty much gone. The antihistamines knocked me out. but I heard FCD getting ice for a drink around 0430, so I got less than 7 hours of sleep. I did manage to doze off for most of another hour, but more sleep would have been nice.

I may or may not attempt to do some outdoor work before it gets too hot. And I think I’ll add sheets to the laundry pile. Beyond that, whatever happens is what will happen. How zen is that???

Happy Firday!!

A restless night of wakefulness and stress dreams. I have recurring dreams about being lost in a large city. At least someone was trying to help me in this one.

A comfy 61F at 0700, and we’re supposed to have mild weather all next week with low humidity, which is a relief. I may even open the windows.

An old document surfaced after my mother died. My nephew, who was her executor, sent it to me. It turned out to be an application for entry into Alaska during WWII. She and my siblings were evacuated from there after Pearl Harbor and I guess she wanted to go visit him. I finally called the Alaska Historical Society yesterday and asked if they would like me to donate it and they’re sending me the paperwork to do so. It’s a pretty scarce thing to have, and has her photo as a young woman of 30 attached. None of my kids are interested in this sort of thing and I want it to be preserved.

Good morning! I slept through my walking alarm and barely heard Mrs Magill’s backup alarm. So there was a bit of running around at the last minute this morning. Chloé was pleased. Primary Human got her ready to walk. Spike did me a solid and picked me up a country ham biscuit from the Bojangles. I’ve got my RDA of saturated fat and salt for today.

I was looking forward to my meeting of the MTTA[1] tomorrow evening, but I looked at the calendar last night and realized that I’m going to have to do Band flags. Bummer, but since I’m technically running the program, I should probably show up.

I certainly was. I had forgotten that I’d posted this bit of self-indulgence. I try to not be such a one note wonder. Sorry about that.

Speaking of - my second note: Next Sunday, 21 June, aside from being Fathers’ Day is the International Day of Yoga. Mrs Magill and I will be going to a yoga in the park event nearby that morning. If you are curious and are looking for a low impact vigorous exercise that will also help your headspace, see if there is an event near you. I promise it will not turn you trans or gay[2].

He’s still eating his kibble and the soft parts of his kale and romaine, so I know he’s not in too much pain yet. The vet said they might be able to fix the teeth on the side he doesn’t chew on (Rabbits’ teeth grow continuously, so the have to keep chewing on both sides of their mouth.), but the MRI and cost to fix would be in the five digit range, and that might get him an extra six months… He’s already incontinent, so we can’t let him out of the hutch without destroying our floors, so we’re looking at a quantity versus quality of life calculation, which really fucking sucks.

Hey! Don’t sell yourself short. No one is out of your league.

I’m a bit wobbly. Must be the heels. :high_heeled_shoe:

When we were going through my parents’ things before my father closed out his house, we came across a couple of pages of what looked like an inventory, with names. We realized it was an old inventory of enslaved people one of my ancestors owned. It was surprising, because we only ever heard about our Quaker ancestors. We donated them to the North Carolina Archives with the hope that they will help someone find their own ancestors.

I know this will come across as cold and unfeeling, but for me and my critters, it’s a definite sign that it’s time. Five figures would definitely push it over the top. I always do the best I can by our assorted pets, but frankly, there’s a dollar limit. The way I look at it - I can spend all that on one animal for a result that isn’t guaranteed, or I can let him go gently and let another critter (or a rescue group) make use of the funds. I was soundly scolded for making this statement some years back, but I stand by it. [climbs off little soap box]

OK, I’m showered and dressed, the bed is stripped, and the laundry is sorted. First load is washing. I’ve also gathered all the household trash and recycling and the truck is loaded. Once I swap laundry loads, I’ll head to the convenience center. Then I’ll remake the bed and continue laundry. I did walk outside and look at my garden… then walked back in. Too muggy and hot to mess with that today. After the weekend, we’re promised a couple of cooler days, so I may wait till then. Or not. We’ll see.

I decided to have a look at our annuity accounts this morning, and I swear, we lucked out with getting Dave as our financial advisor. Since March, we’ve each had 3 draws on the accounts plus 3 fee payments. And 3 months later, our balances are both higher than they were. I’ve never been interested in investing and I have no idea where he put our money (I can look it up, tho I wouldn’t understand), but it’s almost magic! Plus both accounts have guaranteed minimums that reset annually (only up, never down.) The security is really reassuring. We’re not rich and we never will be, but thanks to Dave, we don’t need to live in a cardboard box under an overpass either.

OK, Alexa just told me to check the washer, and so I shall…

I concur. We’re basically holding out for a couple of weeks, so he and Fang can have one last visit.
