(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

Well, the garbage bin is back in the garage and I have only drank two sodas before noon, which is pretty good for me. Will get ready for some gym time here shortly, the World Cup kicks off at 2pm my time and I want to see the start. Otherwise I will continue with the scheduled slothage for the balance of the day.

JtC, best wishes for GG.

Knots, I got my hearing aid from an ENT office via Medicare (which picked up about a third of the cost). Pricey but they have been very supportive.

red, everything connects in Atlanta or Dallas, and Bush is no slouch on flights. Flew in/out of Nashville on my April vacation and found it pretty easy to navigate.

Taters, I’m not a weed-wacker either, hope Husband-unit does a satisfactory job.

Mollie, nice picture and I hope it works the same for you.

FCM, stuff is always in the last place you look…awaiting word on Otis.

Flyboy, you piqued my curiosity and I just looked at my license expiration date..July 3, 2029, so I’m good for 3 more years.

Wet one, glad Ariel is doing better, and cat poop is part of the joys of feline ownership…

I figured you had to be making that up and…Oh my…MacHaggis

And guess I need to gather up my sweating clothes and head out. Catch y’all later.

Thanks, but Ive dated homeless addicts before. Guys who have their life together are out of my league.
Only reason my ex ( apt, income, no drugs) was with me is most women dont want to deal with a guy in a wheelchair.

Thanks, the poor dude does have a UTI and now has meds to take twice a day. Its good that he doesn’t know that he’s big enough to fight me off if he really wanted to because he does NOT like taking pills.

He also smells like VET and Jolene hissed him :frowning:

Otis has a yeast infection in his ears. We’ve got meds for the next 2 weeks, and the vet said the head-shaking should stop in 2-3 days. Glad we could tend to it quickly. And while there, we saw our pet sitter/groomer - she works there part time. Otis was thrilled to see her - her lurves her and her hound.

Since it’s now stoopit hot and humid, I’ve decided on some afternoon chorage. First on the list is bathing Otis. I’ll take him to the basement bathroom and leash him to the grab bar so he doesn’t try to escape. I expect it’ll be a soggy undertaking, but he’s dirty and stinky.

Then I have some kitchen stuff to tend to - that should be less messy. OK, making cole slaw could be a bit messy if I can’t control the cabbage shreads. But still not as messy as bathing the stink-monster, and definitely cleaner than yard work.

Well, duh! It’d be silly to keep looking after you find it!

OK, better get Otis corralled for cleaning. Good times ahead!

Happiness is a clean puppy, even if the bathroom is soggy. Otis isn’t all that happy, but he doesn’t stink and I count that as a win. After I catch my breath and dry off a bit, I’ll get to my culinary chores.

Which reminds me, since we have fans of Mexican food as well as many cooks - Pollo Fiesta. That’s my favorite dish at Salsa’s. It’s chicken breast pieces, mushrooms, and spinach sauteed together, served over Mexican rice, and topped with either a cream sauce or a light cheese sauce. Or maybe a light creamy cheese sauce. Anyway, when I google it, I find a gazillion different recipes, none of which match what I eat. So I ask you, does what I describe sound familiar, maybe under another name? Or is Pollo Fiesta just a generic name for Party Chicken and everyone has their own version? I think if I attempt to recreate it, I’d add onions.

My new ice maker is physically smaller than the old one, but it makes just as much ice just as fast. I just need to refill the reservoir more often, which isn’t that big a deal since I keep a pitcher of water next to it. And Alexa will remind me, on request, to check it every 20 minutes or so. I guess AI can be good for some things.

Enough nattering for the moment. Onward!

I’m starting to get concerned about the other Mumpets, two in the same day is unusual.

Make it 3!

Lager had his follow up regarding his thyroid. He was good ish. He got a bit over heated on the way home. We had cuddle time with an ice pack when we got home. He grew impatient with that and demanded his post vet treat. He got a new catnip toy.

I hope George and Otis recover easily.

What really made it weird though, wwas that my car was in Nashville. I guess dreams don’t have to make sense. :stuck_out_tongue:

My appointment had to be rescheduled. I left an hour before I had to be there (Google listed it at a half hour) and I swear, I think it had been hitting the sauce. I should’ve read all of the steps before leaving, but it had me taking 9 turns to get to the freeway when it only takes 2. When I got down to the medical center area, it put me on an endless loop of U turns. I finally found the building, no thanks to GM, but there was neither a parking lot or garage closer than three blocks away. A valet sign had been pulled inside the door and no valet was evident. Given that I was already late, I called to reschedule and ask about the parking situation. On the way home I set GPS to avoid highways and found that it was only 3 turns from home. That’s how I’ll go in Tuesday.

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes, everyone.

The talk with my boss went better than expected, though I don’t know if anything will actually come of it. I think it is primarily a personality clash between how the designer works and how we work. Entirely too much denigration of our work and fake laughs, especially after I’ve seen her work and some of it, well, kinda sucks. I’ll have a chat with the other guy who shares my position in the organization tomorrow, once the outside designer is gone.

Afternoon, all. We had coffee on the front porch while watching a bald eagle circle and discussing which potted plants we want to set out.

I’m now reading in the backyard hammock, the breeze blowing delicious rose fragrance from the bush we planted last year.

Make it 4 mumpets–Shiso may have ringworm. How does an indoor cat get ringworm? Vet appointment next week, perhaps to be followed by a human appointment if it’s indeed ringworm or some other communicable entity, because Shiso crawls onto my pillow when I’m asleep.

I’ve got an in-person book club visit scheduled, but all I know is the date. Waiting to see if they think to tell me the time or anything about their expectations, or whether I need to ask. I can see on my author dashboard that I sold two copies this week, probably to their members, which is something. When I shift my book(s) from KDP to IngramSpark, the tradeoff is that indie booksellers will be able to order them, but I’ll make 33% or even less of what I make in per-copy royalties as a KDP-based author.

Tunder-boomers have rolled in here, making a nice break from the heat, it’s been up around 90 for the last couple of days, and that’s a bit much for a pasty white Mainer in early June. However, I fear that the bark mulch to be spread tomorrow will be that much heavier.

I once had a vet tell me human anti-fungals work fine on cat ringworm. Just FYI.

Good to know.

Well, that was fun. I was looping the hose over the hanger thingie when I felt something suddenly sting my thumb. I didn’t see any critter, but my thumb is now red, hot, throbbing, and swollen and I feel itching up my arm. I took an antihistamine and I’m icing it. Never experienced anything like this before. Dammit.

Make that five. Buttercup the rabbit has stopped eating his timothy hay and doesn’t eat the stems of his morning kale. That means it hurts to chew hard things. We’re hoping he can hang on until Fang, so he can see his favorite person one more time.

He’s nearly ten, which is a pretty good run for a rabbit.

And howdy on a hot (still 90F) late afternoon in N. Ali-bama. Got my gym time in and made it home for the World Cup kickoff game (shoulda stayed at the gym, Mexico had no problems beating S. Africa, who looked like they had never played a game together). Debating on either going out now and mowing the yard or doing it tomorrow morning, rain is predicted for Friday night and Sunday, so Saturday may be too wet to make it work. An early Chee-burger has been digested and we’ll see if more calories are required if I do the mowage tonight.

Coppertone, you know yourself and your life much better than anyone else, just take care.

JtC, hope the pills help his ills.

FCM, so yeast in the beast? Best scritches to Otis. Glad you could give him (and yourself) a bath. And ouch on the sting.

Mollie, now I have five Mumpets to remember? Have enough trouble remembering all you folks…

And I think I mow the front yard now and see how I feel after that about tackling the back yard. See y’all later.

rocky, glad the news was good on Lager.

red, Google maps have been a royal PITA a couple of times for me. Hope the next trip is error free.

VanGo, glad to hear the talk went well, once the designer is gone can you..modify things?

lily, best wishes for Shiso.

I’m blaming Ariel. She’s the one who started with the unexplainable injury. according to the vet, George is stressed. WTF does George have to be stressed about?

That’s worrisome. Please keep us updated.

I’m sorry. It doesn’t matter how long they are with us, it always hurts when they leave.

That is so frustrating! We are finally starting to learn the back ways around, GPS isn’t our best friend here either.

I hope he’s recovered from the trauma now. George is feeling better. He doesn’t travel well and drooled all over himself and felt a mess. After a good brushing, he feels much better and has taken over the grooming himself.

Of course, I haven’t stuffed a pill down his throat yet, things might change very quickly after that.

Thumb is still swollen and warm and a bit stiff. The inside of my forearm is itchy and red, tho the red could be due to scratching. I’ve been using blue ice packs (we got them when FCD got new knees.) And I’ve taken 2 generic antihistamines. It does seem to be getting better, so there’s that. But those little pink pills are already making me drowsy. I see an early night for me.

Otis was not happy when he got his ear meds. The next 2 weeks will be fun.

Jtc, I found treat- pill - treat - works, so does hiding the pill in churru bites.

Lager as usual is giving me the cold tail.

Up from naptime, watching The Stanley Cup Finals, and drinking a Jungle Bird. Dinner will be Cajun Blackened chicken potato rounds, and green beans.

Awwwww. But quick healing, big dude.

Indeed.

:frowning:

Awww.

< bubble wraps Spot, just in case >

I got the small one from Tar Jay. It makes enough ice fast, and it just fit in the one empty space by the sink.
