Thank you! I’m going to wear a bow tie to irk today. We’ll see if they let me keep it on. Time to hit the shower.
Morning all. The Firday shopping is done and pancakes and an apple have broken my fast, so the day is off to a good start. Storms are due about 1pm according to the Weather Wizards but right now it’s clear and dry and 81F.
Flyboy, it is interesting that most of a foreign language we pick up in or lives (not studied formally), tends to be cuss words…I have a couple in German and French in reserve…And just looked, a most Happy Birthday!!
red, glad Nelson is adapting, now if he makes some new friends to replace the old ones.
Cookie, that’s an interesting find and I concur with preserving it. I still have some of my Dad’s old WWII orders/papers buried in boxes, need to get them out one of these days and see if any are worth preserving.
Mollie, never been interested in Yoga (or Tai Chi or any of those stretchy things), but as I age and things get stiffer (doggio, behave!!), it might be worth looking into. And I know you and the Mrs. will make the best decision for Buttercup when the time comes.
FCM, glad to hear your annunities are doing well, I check mine about the first of each month and so far, despite some bumps in the road, I’m still ahead of my monthly allotment.
And that’s all. Need to start the dishwasher and do some preventive maintenance on my hearing aids, so take care all.
Mornin’ everyone.
It’s 52F and sunny outside. The forecast calls for sunshine with an expected daytime high of 74F. Tomorrow we creep into the 80s, and Sunday and Monday have a heat advisory with temps in the low 90s.
Happy Birthday, Flyboy!
FCM, we all have different limits when it comes to our pets, and that’s fine. I did spend several thousand on Polar, but it was worth it. It worked and gave us a few additional years. Had it been only months, I wouldn’t have done it. He wasn’t incontinent, however.
I’m sorry about all the Mumpets. Mine are doing some ear flapping, too, and one is constantly rubbing the side of her face, so I’m pretty sure I’m also dealing with yeast. This is how it usually presents in my pups.
Mom was mostly okay during the visit yesterday. However, she was hangry and insisted she hadn’t had breakfast. She had breakfast, and my sister even went and talked to the nursing staff to confirm. She had eaten 75% of her breakfast, but didn’t eat the green peppers and oniions because they give her indigestion. I had to keep myself from laughing, because my mother was being downright petulant in her insistence she hadn’t eaten, and the face she made reminded me of a toddler. She was decent to me, but again, the memory thing bothers me.
The care plan calls for multiple therapy appointments, and she’ll need to use a walker. She has a sit walker for outdoor use, and my sister has already dropped off the standard-issue hospital walker at my mother’s house.
After the visit, I stopped by the German deli and picked up cold cuts, butterkase, German butter (unsalted), brotchen, and bread.
I drove home, made lunch, and then went out to weed-whack and mow. My husband had mowed the dog section of the yard, but I ended up redoing it because I used the blower to blow all the pollen heads from the Douglas fir tree into a smooth area and mowed everything up again. After all that, I watered all the backyard plants. The front was watered before I left for the visit to my mother. After watering, I decided to do some transplanting, so I spent a couple of hours on it. I have just a few plants left, and then I’m done, until or if I see another plant that takes my fancy. I would love to have a greenhouse so I could start plants from seed, but I just don’t have the space. Most of my purchases are perennials, so I don’t have to buy as much.
Well, I guess it’s time to get the day started. I need to finish cleaning the kitchen and sweep. My plan for the day is yard/garden work, and that’s about it.
Please take care of yourselves.
And here I always thought those were for spaghetti straps.
Can you plant a second crop?
I renewed on line twice now. This means reusing the photo from the last time I went in to the office, but I haven’t changed that much. More grey in the beard, and the other day I noticed a bit of grey in my eyebrows (not enough to show in pictures yet), but that’s about it.
That sounds a bit odd, but I’d be willing to give a it a try.
Bob.
We use Pill Pockets, but Angel seems to have gotten wise to us.

A belated “happy birthday”, VanGo! (Did I manage to sleep through Swampy’s song?)
And “happy birthday”, flyboy!
Indeed. I thought our Dawsey was around the same age, but Lady SCAdian thinks he’s only eight. She’ll check her photos.
Currently 77 ferrets out of an expected ninety. Not really certain, but I think this is our first 9x-ferret day of the year. Plans for the day include the base pharmacy, the commissary and WallyWorld.
Morning everyone!
I hope the other Mumpets are feeling better, George certainly is. Or maybe he’s just trying to convince us that he doesn’t need anymore pills, but we can both see an improvement.
Everything is computerized these days, including their litter robot. It can give us a 10 day output report sorted by cat, (It weighs them for ID) so Hubs checked it this morning and George is back to normal in the litter box as well.
It also snitches on Jolene. She goes in the box right after George, before it has time to cycle, and re-covers his poop/pee because she just cannot abide that stinky stuff in HER box. She doesn’t use it, she just makes sure that his output is thoroughly covered. Then she gets out and after a suitable amount of time, the box cycles and the litter is sifted and cleaned. THEN she will poop and not cover it.
So we are getting ready to head to Charleston and have a shopping list from Harry’s house. That many people use a whole bunch of toilet paper! I’ve got an appointment with my surgeon this afternoon. I still have time to change my mind, shits starting to get real.
Ahhhh fuk! He just spit his pill on the floor. Asshole!!!
And back from the convenience center with a few minutes to spare before I have to attend to the washer and dryer. Once the towels are folded and put away, I’ll get out fresh sheets and make the bed.
I came home to Otis sprawled on the kitchen floor. Poor guy does not like the heat. I’ve been bombarded with ads for cooling pads for dogs - anyone have any experience with them? The prices are all over the place, and while I’m sure the $12 pads are probably not all that great, I don’t know that the $150 pads are any better than the $50-60 pads. I wish I’d thought to ask the vet yesterday.
I hope she’ll use it. FIL fought it constantly, which led to many falls, including many head injuries and 2 destroyed TVs that he fell into. MIL was a little better, tho she forgot it from time to time, and I know that led to at least 2 falls. So I hope you and your sister don’t deal with the same. (I dread the day if FCD ever needs one.)
I’m not going to bother. We have enough farm stands around here where I can get fresh local 'maters without the fuss of dealing with the plants! ![]()
No No No No NO!!! Must I bring swampy in to scold you and give you The Look! You know you’ll be glad once it’s over and done - no sense having it looming over you longer than it must. I have spoken!!!
OK, towels are dry - time to get back to chores.
Do not change your mind. Sure you’ll have to endure a sling and bad cooking, but the resulting good arm will be worth it. Don’t make me come up there and break out my Dad Voice.
We’d picked up a cheap one from the Aldi Aisle of Shame the other day. Chloé is on that pad at least 50% of the time, more than her other favorite napping spots.
lager has forgiven me for the vet thing. once we have his dosage correct we will get it in chews. luckily he is really easy going for things. i can clean his ears while he is eating, get the med in his ears, while he is eating, pretty much anything while he is eating.
last night i did the leak test for the aquarium in the bathtub. tonight i will put in the substrate and hardscape. if i get sand today i will start the planting, or it will wait for tomorrow’s shopping trip for sand…and possibly snails.
jtc, i think you found the sweet spot for helping harry’s family. too bad they caught you. that quiet just doing what need done is sooo very appreciated.
i really enjoyed the jolene fly story. so funny
i see george is taking his pill like a cat does.
the treat - pill - treat in theory is that the first treat gets saliva going, then the pill slides easier, then treat to reinforce that good things will happen. hiding it in the treat is easier, some are just too good at getting the pill out.
fcm, good luck with otis’ ears. i hope your thumb and hand continue to improve. i wonder what got you.
happy birthday johnny la. i’m sure a bow tie is very appropiate for a financial institution.
this site has fun, quirky, and boring solid colour clothing with pockets. Svaha USA
fcm, i would put down ice packs with a blanket or towels. rotate the packs as needed.
We used to buy these for Polar. Cooling Mat
We bought them for Maisie and Buster, too, but they were still in the chewing stage, so we ended up having to take theirs away. Polar, however, loved these mats, and they worked for him. He was a double coat dog, so that says something.
I’ve been seeing ads for these: Pelsbarn and was thinking of trying them for my pups.
It seemed like a really light day today. Good because of the heat(91 Ferrets when I got off at 0915), but not as great for the bank account. Laundry is swishing right now, and Spot and I have had our dry, flavorless bits. When the washing is done, I might venture out into the heat to hit the ABC store, since Spot guzzled all my gin last night celebrating the Canes’ win.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLYBOY!!!

I think I know which offspring’s getting the majority of the estate. ![]()
and {{{{Mollie}}}} about Buttercup.
I would never be such a dick.
After a couple of drams of whisky? Sure!
I usd to give Maggie Wonderbeagle pills wrapped in ham, cheese, and bread, and squished together. She still managed to eat the food and spit out the pill.
Do not. You’ll appreciate it 1000% at the end of things.
Yeah, those are the ads I get the most tho there have been a couple other companies that I can’t recall. I did a search for “best cooling mat” and got the $$$ ones. Pelsbarn is showing BOGO - that’s tempting - one for home, one for the boat or car. I’m just leery… cautious? suspicious? dunno.
Bed is re-sheeted. Ziva is back under the bed - wonder if Otis annoyed her. Still, I get nervous when I can’t see her and make sure she’s still breathing. I’m sure she’ll mosey out later.
Third load in the washer, one more to go. Then, dunno. I should find something to do in the basement - it’s quite cool down there.
Happy birthday flyboy!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a whole lot slated for today.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Happy birthday, Flyboy! Fun dinner plans?
On he way home from the Likker Sto a fire engine went screaming by. And when I got home,it was in front of one of the apartment complex buildings, and the power is out. So EMS and Duke Energy have to work in this heat, and me and 580 people have no power and no A/C
If nothing else, photograph them and upload them to the web (Amazon or Google Photos) so that others can access them at a later date. My sister remembered being evacuated from Juneau after Pearl Harbor when she was only four years old as a big adventure. She also remembered wondering how a harbor could be made out of pearls. ![]()
To say nothing of the scolding and look that this cranky night nurse will give you!
Evenin’
Happy birthday FlyBoy
Not much going on here to report, irk was dead quiet; so I got some stuff done.
I’m both glad it’s the weekend and slightly panicking at the rate time is going, as deadlines that were far away in the distance start to loom threateningly. Oh well. Let them loom.
Happy birthday, Flyboy!
I still have time to change my mind, shits starting to get real.
I will add to the chorus: Please, don’t change your mind. It will be terrible and challenging and very not fun, but it will also be behind you. We’re all here cheering you on!
doggio sorry you’re without power and AC. I hope it is fixed quickly. If not, something tells me you may know of a friendly corner pub that offers both AC and access to other important things. ![]()
Sending healing vibes to all the ailing Mumpers and Mumpets!
70F today, heading for over 80. Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday are forecast to be even worse, close to 100F, so I’ll be indoors most of the time. I divide the world into two sorts of people: Snails and lizards. I am a total snail.
I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch, but she is feeling poorly so I’ve had to buckle down and get indoor tasks done instead. I’ve got assembly line cooking in process. Ollie is getting a bath soon. There’s a never-ending list of stuff to get to, so I’ll try to scratch a few items off it today.
Alas, alack, I am too boring today, even for the MMP!
Oy! I made a quick Aldi run. When I was waiting to turn right on the main drag, a truck from the towing company that my complex uses made a left across three lanes of traffic and totalled some poor schmuck in a sedan’s car. Because traffic was light, that’s the only other vehicle involved, but WTF? It was almost like he was trying to drum up business. When I came back, the police, other tow truck and ambulance were just pulling out.
It’s raining now, so I’ll have to suit Nelson up when I take him out.
Happy birthday flyboy!! I hope your coworkers enjoyed your bow tie. I personally love it when men can pull one off - it says they’re self-confident and a little quirky!
My goodness the Mumpets have been in for a rough week. I sure hope everyone is back on the upswing. My secret weapon for giving a pet a pill is to coat it in a little bit of butter. Makes it slick so it goes right down and they can’t hork it back up.
doggio I hope you get your power back on soon. It’s awfully hot to not even be able to use a fan.
JtC don’t you dare put that surgery off! Waiting isn’t going to make any about it better or easier.
cookie What a neat piece of history you’ve got there. I remember you talking about this before, and it sent me down quite the rabbit hole as I had never heard about people being evacuated from Alaska.
It’s hot and humid here so I don’t plan on being outside much. But a delightful cold front should be coming through Saturday which will drop temps by almost 40 degrees! It won’t last long but I can’t wait to open all the windows and enjoy some time in the low 60s.
