(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

I went to the far away doctor today. 45 miles one way. But she is the only specialist for my uncommon lady problem plus I like her. Early evening yesterday Ursala Kitteh horked up a hairball. This morning I found a puddle of weird liquid under the dining table. I don’t think it was urine. I think she had a dicky tummy. But she’s eating and enjoying the sunshine from the open patio door.

got the news back from the vet visit. lager’s thyroid dose is good, but he has slipped over the diabetic border and back to insulin shots. one unit twice a day. the thyroid med will be in chicken chews. shots are easy, i’ll give him a treat (chewable) and the shot.

thankfully, koritza is a healthy girl.

OKOK!!! No changing my mind, but I reserve the right to whine and complain!

There is a Great Clips next to the Aldi so I went in and got my hair cut shorter than usual so I wouldn’t have to deal with it. I also bought some prepared food, I did realize that my idea of making lots of noodle dishes was not a good one. There’s no way I’m going to be able to get noodles covered in butter (well alfredo sauce) from my plate to my mouth without making a real mess.

I should probably get a cheap hair dressers cape and fold the bottom over, then sew it in place so I can use it as a bib with pockets for the food to slide into.

Aldi didn’t have the 12 pack of cider I like BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! So I bought a six pack of black cherry cider instead. I also found Blueberry Margarita Cocktail made with agave wine (they must have found a use for the flower, they use the big core-stem for tequila) and a bottle of that came home with us. It is acceptable, but not really worth buying again.

PetSmart didn’t have the suggested Churu bites or any soft centered treats at all. We found some pill pockets by the cash register but George gets Greenies a couple of times a week, they aren’t special like Churu. I’ll find out how they work tonight.

Happy birthday flyboy! I’m sure everyone enjoyed your bow tie, they are snazzy and class the place right up.

Thank you for the encouragement, but honestly…its not going to be terrible or even very painful. Its just going to be inconvenient and very boring and I won’t even be able to whine about it here because my left hand doesn’t know how to use the keys on the right side of the keyboard. So I guess I better get all of my whining done now.

I did borrow Hub’s mic for my first stitching class and got it all hooked up and went to the zoom meeting to find a notice that there were technical issues and the class will be rescheduled. According to the email, zoom is now charging big money for classes bigger than 30 people so she has to find another hosting site or beg us to all kick in more money for the license. If I knew who to blame for all of this, fingers would be pointed…currently I’m blaming the fickle finger of fate.

Poor lager and poor you. When I was giving Fred insulin, it was much less expensive to buy it from CostCo and you don’t have to have a membership to use their pharmacy. Be really careful with those hair fine needles, it is way too easy to give yourself a cat sized dose if you aren’t fully awake.

Liking doctors is really important and worth making a longer drive. I hope Ursala Kitteh just had a little upset tummy and won’t need a vet visit of her own.

Much sympathy coming my way. I know you are in an older building so have more windows you can open but its still gotta suck. I hope you found somewhere to stay cool and hydrated.

Back when we had a St. Barnyard in Arizona, she got two crew cuts a year. Once around last freeze and again three months later. It made a real difference in her comfort levels even if she did look pretty goofy. We had a triple coated Maine Coon mix that also got regular crew cuts for the same reason.

FIL hated using his walker inside so we had hand rails installed in his room, bathroom and hall. His walker lived at the end of the hall and he knew he had to use it to come into the living room lest he get bitched at. We also rearranged furniture so he was never more than half a step away from a handhold.

He still fell. sigh.

I wish you much luck and even more patience. You will need all you have and more.

Whine all you want, I’m more than willing to listen. One-ended whining license is hereby issued to you.

Do you have a couple of good-sized freezeable gel packs on hand? I found them essential for drug free pain relief for my arm after the nerve block for the surgery wore off about 24 hours later. Ice packs worked better than opiates for me.

Aldi has a few decent prepared meals. Right now, there’s one of their quinoa bowls in my freezer. Mac and cheese freezes well too.

Nelson came back from Sis’ scratching (he gets sensitive skin from his mother) so after his bath the other day, I began using the anti itch spray when I brush him. It’s starting to work. With the rain today, he’s been a lap puppy.

Adds to list. I know we have some medium sized ones, but I hate opiates and want to avoid them all costs. The last time I took them I got constipated so badly I couldn’t even drink water because there was no room in my gut. Horrible, I will NOT do that again.

Also on my list is vape carts. We are going to the Huntington Art Museum on Monday if it doesn’t rain, I’ll be going to my favorite dispensary for those after we are done.

Adds note to look at those as well. I tried Marie Calendar’s mac and cheese a few months ago and was so disappointed. Even Marie has become enshitified in the past few years.

I will make my own mac and cheese and freeze it, that can be eaten with a spoon. But I probably am going to still want a bib. Damnit.

When I called Mom tonight I remembered to ask her if she was getting the post cards I was sending. That’s when I learned that she was now using a PO box because her mail was getting stolen from the box. And that sister was the one who picked up the mail from the box, but tosses all the junk mail before bringing it home. Grrrrr.

Howdy Y’all! I did the things early this mornin’ and then we spent the rest of the day in RDOS inactivities. It was and still is really HAWT out. Leftovers got et up for sup. We also finished binge watchin’ the latest season of Grey’s Anatomy. That show has been around forever, but we watch it on Netflix whenever a new season drops. They didn’t blow anything up at the end of this season like they did last season, but still enough unresolved stuff to warrant another one, I guess.

Mollie I am now jonesin’ for some Bojangles. I blame you. Sorry you can’t make your MTTA meetin’ tomorrow, but gotta do your duty, I guess. I think quality of life counts for a lot. Buttercup has had a good life, so if it’s time, you can rest assured you gave him his best life.

Cookie that sounds like a cool document. Glad it will be preserved.

MetalMouse I took Spanish in high skool and kolledge. I remember very little of it, except, of course, the cuss words I learned. I learned the cuss words on my own with extraneous readin’. Also from a fling with a gentleman from Honduras durin’ my mispent youth.

Taters hope the care plan is one your mom will follow. Maybe the incentive of still bein’ able to be in her home will be enough to make her want to keep it up.

JtC glad GG feels better. I hope you win the pill war. You do not need to change your mind about the surgery. Do I have to lecture? I will if MOOOOOOM says I need to. I see Mollie has threatened to use the DAD VOICE. I am sure BBBoo will add in her NIGHT NURSE VOICE if needed. I see she has chimed in. Looks like you now must go through with the surgery. You may whine and complain all you want, however. We will listen and offer sympathy.

doggio ICK! Hope the power is back on soonest. Wouldn’t want Spot to have to email the SPCA and/or CPS.

Evening all. Did manage to get to the gym for the afternoon sweatage and pretty much RDOS’s the rest of the day, will go to watch the USA World Cup soccer match here in a few minutes. Promised rain never materialized, you could see the clouds all around us promising it but they never got overhead. 30% chance this weekend, so we’ll see.

Quick run-though, game starts in 10 minutes…

Taters, you do keep your days full, I’ll give you that.

JtC, when cats have their own private robot, life has certainly changed since we were young. And won’t lecture you on the surgery, others have done much better than I and you are a smart lady anyways.

FCM, hope the cooling pad helps Otis.

rocky, happy aquarium placing!

doggio, hope you have power back by now.

Cookie, I will do as you suggest…one of these days…

red, wonder what that towing driver was thinking…he’s probably thinking about unemployment about now…

Wet one, best wishes to Ursala.

And time to go cheer on the US of A. Catch y’all later.

Noted.

False alarm. We do flag routes for every holiday, and we just assumed we would have to go on Flag Day, too. This means that we finally have enough volunteers that some families won’t have to go every time. It probably helped that Mrs Magill heavily implied that volunteering for flags and concessions was not optional at the parent meeting last month.

Anyhow, Mollie gets to go out tomorrow!

We went to the decent Mexican place with good Margaritas for lunch today. It was about 50 miles from home. While we were munching on chips and salsa, Hubs pulled out his phone and checked the litter box usage since we were gone.

This is not the future I expected, LOL!

The power came back around 4:30. Since it had been 4+ hours, I did have to do a fridge clean out(based on the government website guidelines. If the ivermectin garglers say it’s unsafe, it’s unsafe), which necessitated a trip to Teeter for bacon, eggs, and cream for tomorrow, and more tuna for tonight’s stirfry.. Everything in the freezer was still frozen solid, and the iced didn’t even melt so I’m good up top). Dinner tonight is tuna, bok choy, and broccoli stir fry with soba noodles. And a martini with Japanese Roku gin. I didn’t get a lot of sleep for obvious reasons.

TIL there is a Filbert St. in Raleigh. Isn’t that nuts?

My building is built into a hill, I’m on the bottom floor with the entire Earth behind my apartment, and 2 floors above me. It never got over 74, even after all the time.

Help yourself. But Roomie barely complained through 2 shoulder surgeries and a knee replacement, so you should hopefully skate through. :slightly_smiling_face:

This

“Dear Better Homes and Gardens I’m writing this email to ask you to place me in a better home, with a primate servant that can keep the lights on, and to stuff the current malingering maquace in a garden compost pit.” - Spot D. Catt, S.E.G.

Yay!

Yeah, i was expecting jetpacks and replicators(Star Trek, not Stargate)

Thank you, everyone!

susan: I made three mini pizzas on low-carb, street taco size, tomato tortillas. Mrs. L.A. is taking me to the closest casino for prime rib tomorrow.

liirogue and JaneDoe42: I got positive comments from some cow-orkers, and the credit union president, and from members as well. Mrs. L.A. still hates them, because she says they make me look like a TV weather man or a professor.

Roomie is a piker, I complain when I tear a fingernail.

But yeah, I’m not worried about the pain, I’m worried about the boredom. Its too hot and muggy to just sit outside and smoke, plus I won’t be able to smoke. Or eat shrimp alfredo.

OMG!!! There is a frog climbing up one of the glass doors. A FROG!!! In our yard!!! And it pooped on the glass, of course it did! I just went outside and took a pic, here is the first frog I’ve ever seen on property we own.

Imgur

A frog. Wow. Now I’ve seen it all

I’ll bet I could have even touched it, but I didn’t want to scare it or anything. Wow. A frog. I gotta call Mom and tell her.

And he’s a practiced lector! (Not the cannibal kind). You can add my dog wrangling voice to the chorus.

Quick late night final as I signed up to referee two games tomorrow morning (9am and 10:30am). Watched the US win it’s initial World Cup game in fine style (4-1) and also got some backdated papers read, so for me an active evening. No rain but the temperature is down to 73F, so comfortable sleeping tonight.

Mollie, hope Mollie has fun Saturday.

doggio, glad you have power but sad some stuff spoiled.

flyboy, I would go with the Professor option. Lookin’ good!

JtC, nice pic, even with the poop.

And off to Slumberland I go.

flyboy Happy Birthday.

If’n I forgot to say it yesterday, thanks for all the birthday wishes. I tried to take myself out for a nice dinner, but the entire downtown was without power.

Chat with my peer at the museum went well. He’s even less confrontational than I am, so we’re really low on the list of people who would get into arguments. But he agrees with me that the outside designer is not the best fit for our place.

JtC I’ve seen many frogs in my life, but neve one climbing a window, or a sliding glass door.

Now I hear clunks. I think the fool dog has dragged a small branch in through the dog door.

RelaxCoo Large Flexible Ice Pack for Injuries Reusable Gel, 11x14.5 Inches, Cold Compress for Hip, Shoulder, Knee, Back Pain, Swelling, Bruises, Surgery Amazon.com: RelaxCoo Large Flexible Ice Pack for Injuries Reusable Gel, 11x14.5 Inches, Cold Compress for Hip, Shoulder, Knee, Back Pain, Swelling, Bruises, Surgery : Health & Household

I used big ones like these-they were big enough to wrap around my whole arm inside the sling, should wrap around a shoulder. Get at least two so one can be chilling while you’re using the other one. Three would probably be better. I doubled them up at night so I could get enough relief to sleep before they warmed up. My orthopedic surgeon had me using ice around the clock for the first days, even while I slept (so I could sleep).

A very special friend sent me a care package with something chewy~helped me not care about the hurt. Between that and the ice packs I could sleep.

(I live in a very backward state that still doesn’t even have medical YKW)

Hm. Maybe I should wear a tie more often. I have a bunch of them, and I think they’re fun. I have a waistcoat, suspenders, and a fez. Maybe I could do the whole Doctor Who look… (No, I’m sure that wouldn’t fly.)

Heck, that’s why I like them. You do them proud Prof. Fly Guy-very dashing!
