(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

I have just picked up two new toilets. As I was ordering the replacement for the hall bath, Mrs Magill suggested I order another one for our bathroom.

This is what we got. Cool Ray will be here Monday to install them.

Leftover pizza for lunch, then finish laundry, make beds, then get ready for the meeting.

Alas, after 30 minutes, the overtemp alarm went off. At least we weren’t out on the river. FCD decided he just didn’t want to go out, so we had the engine running in the slip while we had lunch. Since then, we’ve been discussing what the problem could be - tho we know the coolant was low, so maybe that’s the only problem. Or not. We’re back home and we’ll have a look again tomorrow.

FCD is sorting thru and organizing 3 tool bags. I’m not sure what I’ll do. I’m thinking of looking at the engine manual, hoping for inspiration. Plus I need to yank something out of the freezer for supper. No yard work, tho - it’s already mid-80s. I’m not that excited about working up a sweat.

Mrs. L.A. has put up a nifty new blind on the large front window (with my part being tightening the screws once she got the brackets up). The side front window shade was missing parts, so she’s putting the shelf back there until a replacement arrives (Monday?), and she says she’ll put it up Friday. My mom’s Japanese pierced tea set (a pot and four cups – sorry, no pic) is on the shelf. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost as old as I am. (Could be more, or the same.)

I’ve eaten a ham-and-egg sandwich (I forgot the cheese, so I had a slice after I was done), done two loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher, put our barely-used paper shedder (and, instructions, cleaning/lubricant pads, two rolls of bags, a ream of bright yellow printer paper, and the curtain holders) out by the power pole, and posted the ‘free stuff’ on the neighbourhood FB page. Oh, and I ordered a new hose for the LG a/c. The end of the one we have is torn, and is being held to the exhaust port with Gorilla tape. Should be here tomorrow.

I have some scabs on my shins from fighting with shrubbery last week. The problem is they itch and I absently mindedly scratch them, thus opening up and, yay, new blood.

Plus the wounds really interest Ms Peach.

Back to work in a few minutes, and I have a serious case of the donwannas.

Monkey is comfortably sacked out on the corner of my bed, and I am so damn jealous.

Afternoon all. Soccer has been refereed and hunger/thirst assuaged, am waiting for the first of possibly 4 World Cup games to start (the 4th is due to start at 11pm local, so I think I’ll just watch the hightlights). Otherwise I think I got my exercise in.

Nut, sounds like a dirty job and glad I wasn’t the one doing it…

Mollie, new toilets look nice. I’ve though of getting a bidet-equipped one but just haven’t had the ambition. And happy pup means happy life.

Taters, I get new pillows whenever I decide to change mine, but it has been awhile so may wander over Wal-Mart way and peruse the options…

shoe, hope the throat is doing better.

JtC, knowing people, I am not too surprised at the result of that experiment..I’m sure you’ve heard of the Milgram experiments… Milgram experiment - Wikipedia Good luck on the stitching.

Oopsie, besides work and getting the new house in order (and finalizing departure from the old one), surprised you could even get here this week Glad things seem to be going well and congratulations on being a Plank Owner.

flyboy, sounds like the home improvements are functional and I sure someone can use the other stuff.

shoe, just close one’s eyes and think of England…

And time for Qatar vs Switzerland…not two of the major powers but hopefully entertaining. Take care all.

It was a bit busy on the 100 and 200 Slides wiuth the clerk work. I got that wrapped, then had to help with the 300, since they put people who really didn’t know what they were doing over there. Damaged took a while, since there was another Hope Despot LED light that was wrecked. I left at noon, and there was still overgoods to be done. But I’ve had my bacon and eggs and gin&tonic so i can nap.

only lost $35 of stuff, so it wasn’t too bad.

Sounds like he Marie Kondos kvetching.

Spot has been this week.

Gordie always lie to pull off Band-aids. Dogs are weird.

Funny how they get by on being cute rather than earning their keep. Must be nice. :kissing_cat:

The afternoon wasn’t a total waste, and we had a good supper. I’ve got to get the dishes into the dishwasher, then my recliner beckons. My thumb and adjacent area still itch, so I took another antihistamine, which means I should be feeling dopey soon (no comments from the cheap seats!!!)

Back to the boat tomorrow to try to wring things out again. Tonight is for chillage.

Hot (for here) day today, currently 85F with 90F in the offing. Tomorrow and Monday forecast even hotter. Icky! Thank goodness for A/C.

oopsie, glad the move is nearly in your rear view mirror! And congrats on the Plank certificate!

FCM, hope you and FCD are able to figure out the overheating problem with the boat. How very annoying. Also sorry you got stung. Sneaky nasty things!

Do eeeet! Without apology, I will say that adding a bidet seat to my throne was one of the best gifts I ever gave myself. The only real complication was adding an electrical outlet close to the loo, and with all you’ve been through with home, uhhhh, renovations due to your plumbing misfortunes, that would be a cakewalk. Assuming you even want one that needs access to electricity. I am grateful for mine every day.

doggio, glad your food losses were comparatively minimal and that you and Spot were able to get on with important things.

I worked on sorting through crap that has accumulated in a spare room today. It feels great to free up that space! Being a sentimental sap who struggles to part with things that fondly remind me of past people and/or events, I find this hard. But drowning in clutter is not ok, so I persevere. Ollie helped by investigating everything I discarded.

Speaking of Ollie, he’s turned into a real snuggler, too. (!!!) He was not a fan of being held when I got him, so I instituted a daily exercise of 2 Minutes of Mandatory Cuddle. He gets held and scritched and petted and fussed over and told what a good, good doggie he is (I haven’t been struck by lightning yet). Now he demands it, even shoving his big nose all over my face and glasses to demonstrate affection. And for much longer than 2 minutes as well. I finally have a pet!

Still, willful defiance remains his chief characteristic. When I let him out earlier for a constitutional, he immediately found… something unidentifiable… to eat. I could see a slimy-looking thing hanging out of his mouth. I went to investigate and he scuttled away, chewing furiously and giving me the stink-eye. This little scene played out a few times: I gave chase, he scampered just out of reach as he continued to chew and give me the eye-fuck. When he finally got whatever it was down his gullet, he shifted gears into But-I’m-Totally-Submissive! and rolled over on his back, waving paws in the air. Hope it doesn’t kill ya, pal!

He does take pills easily, though. I taught him to roll over on his back, and he lets me just shove them down his throat – gently, of course. Then he gets effusive praise and cookies. He reminds me when it’s time to take his daily pill now.

What a character. He does liven things up around here.

Baked a cake for dessert tomorrow after lunch at my friends’ place. Will also take the customary loaf of homemade bread and a non-homemade bottle of wine. I’ll be up at 5 a.m. tomorrow to bake the bread because of this heat. I can open up the house and usher the warm air out before the day gets spicy.

Dinner will be a lemony dill shrimp salad with celery, onion and avocado. This is the weather for it!

Have great evenings, everyone.

I treated myself to a pedicure this morning, then drove to one of the nurseries in the valley, then back up to Home Depot, and, finally, home.

I picked up a couple of different ferns and some other plants for the shade garden. I also picked up an Amethyst Lips Salvia plant. At Home Depot, I purchased a pot and some potting soil.

Once I was home, I ate lunch, unloaded the Jeep, watered the front plants, then the plants in the back. By the time I was done watering the back, the sun had moved into that area, so I came back inside because it’s 82F and it’s too hot for planting.

Think I am going RDOS for a bit.

Howdy Y’all! We had quality cee-mint pond time for a couple of hours then it got cloudy so we decided to go inside. Showerage and nappage then ensued. I went and got us some Bojangle’s chikin since I was the one that had the gnawin’ and a cravin’. OYKW did not object, however. We’ll heat up last night’s leftovers tomorrow. We also binged watched some Sweet Magnolias. Now he is upon the bed watchin’ some crime show or other that he likes to watch. I am not a big fan of crime shows, so I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit.

BooFae that was a wonderful idea to donate that album to the local museum. Is gettin’ rid of EDS comin’ close to reality? Will there be champagne and a conga line when it happens? A margarita night at home sounds like a good plan.

Nuts glad you got the patio pressure washed. I let the professionals pressue wash the house and the cee-mint pond area these days. Fortunately we can afford to do so.

Mollie best of luck to Squeaky on his ACT. I took the SAT back in the day when we used papyrus scrolls and quills. Happy terlet shoppin’. I see that terlet shoppin’ was met with success. I am sure the MTTA meetin’ will go well. Chloé looks so cute playin’ with her pride llama!

Taters I shall look into the gel pillow. I am intrigued.

shoe hope your throat is all better now.

Oopsie conga rats on bein’ a plank owner! This is a thing I got learnt about today. Hooray for makin’ progress in unpackin’, for the new couch and for gettin’ to park in your garage!

BrightTree Ollie sounds like such a joy. Hope whatever he ate doesn’t reappear later in the house.

Ladies a block away every summer sit out in their yard with a sign on the fence

Practicing Reiki on Petunia the donkey

 Love this

We keep our fridge colder than most people probably do, and don’t open it unless we really have to when the power’s off, so we’ve never had to clean it out like that, even when a passing hurricane knocked out our power for twelve hours.

Unless you can manage a really good Turkish accent.

Not an expert, but I was pretty sure that wasn’t a horse.

Last time I wore a bowtie was in high school, when a buddy and I decided to go stag to the military ball, for which the uniform was our standard Army greens with a white shirt and a plain black bow tie.

How awesome is that! Congratulations!

I can sure remember those days and it isn’t with fondness. I hope your night went well anyhow.

Yeah, about that…my shoulder really hurts and I didn’t even stitch longer than five minutes at a time. I’ll be glad when all of the surgery and boredom is over, I’m not liking being so limited.

Oh look, you’ve got something stuck to you. I’ll halp!

I agree. Even without the neato drying part, they are so much nicer. Plus they save a lot of toilet paper.

Hubs objected when I bought the first cheapo toilet lid gizmo, but used it once and was an instant convert!

I have moved commemorative t-shirts for decades. Last week I saw them and realized that they are doing no good just taking up room on a closet shelf so have started wearing them. I’m also slowly sorting through other keepsakes, nobody will want them when I’m gone so if I can use and enjoy them now, I need to do that.

I’m glad Ollie has finally grown up enough to be a cuddle dawg. I know that’s what you wanted, but sometimes waiting for them to outgrow their velociraptor stage can make you worry about their continued existence in this world.

Your dinner sounds devine and like something I might make one for dinner tomorrow. Tonight I made a big pot of shrimp fried rice, mostly for freezing and he had a bagged salad and baked chicken.

Hubs loves his. I think they are too firm, I like to sink into softness.

You look almost as relaxed as Petunia! I hope Ariel likes it when you are ready.

So not much today, it was almost hot outside and pretty muggy. Hubs went for a ride and I did a little stitching and a lot of watching the forest. It is a million shades of green now and there is a Cardinal nest in a tree next to the road.

Harry’s daughter came over today and said that because the funeral was on Monday, she would consider it a big favor if we would take Harry out for dinner Sunday evening so they could clean the house and power wash the porches. She’s a sneaky one, she is. She knows that Harry and I would get involved in the cleaning so wants to get all of us out of her hair for a few hours.

She also left a hundred dollar bill on the table when she left. I’m going to ask Harry what I should do about that, money can be a very touchy subject during this sort of thing.

George didn’t like the pill pockets but happily I still have him fooled into thinking that I’m bigger than him so the pills have all ended up in his belly. Only one more left, thank goodness! According to their robot, all systems are normal now.

They have outgrown their crows-nest, but still like to cuddle up for a nice nap at least once daily.

He’s just a little bit bigger than her, LOL!

Evening all. Soccer has been watched (and some more will be watched shortly), Big Bowl O’Pasta has been devoured and I’m comfortably tired. Might get a little rain tonight but nothing major, unlike other parts of the country. Think I will visit Red Robin (Yum!) for the first time in a long while for dinner tomorrow, which will lead to some more sweating at the gym. Other than that no plans are in the offing.

Bright Tree, to show how much research I’ve done on bidets, had no idea there were electrical ones. Will have to do some research before and buying is done. And glad Ollie had the ability to learn how to be really comfortable (by using his human as a cushion).

wet one, love the pic.

JtC, sounds like daughter has a plan, and hopefully you signed up for it. As for the C-note (I presume for Sunday dinner), well…I really don’t know what I would do, do what you think is the right thing (don’t return it or give it to Harry, if need be donate to a cause you/he believe in). And good lord, GG is huge.

And that’s all for now, folks.

I LOL’d.

From a geopolitik standpoint, soccer matchups are weird.

Right?

Hmph. Fine.

D’aaaawwwwwww.

Hey, have you posted Ollie pics?

I lurve long-ears.

Thanks! Since TPTB are watching hours like hawks, me & SometimesBitchyTeen got sprung ridiculously early (for a Saturday night in summer) but did you hear either of us complaining?

… no?

Throat was fine after one of those Luden’s pectin drops.

You probably know this, but there are people who will take a big collection of { band name here } t-shirts and stitch them into a nice quilt.

S.M. is having loads of knee pain and will probably need surgery at some point.

Ditto my mother.

I mentioned this at work and was like, “Y’all should hang out together, eat Advil, and talk smack about me!”

Whelp. Home early doesn’t happen often - next week’s schedule is gonna be “interesting” - and I suppose if I want clean socks’n’undies then I shall hafta bestir myself. Eventually.

Up from naptime, having a Vieux Carré, Chinese BBQ stir fry, and watch F1 practice

Well, that is more Snow White’s job.

“90% of having a pet is following each other around wondering what you have in your mouth”

Well, Roomie did open it a couple of times, besides better safe than sorry, because food poisoning sucks.

2027 IIHF Division III Group B hockey matchup: Mongolia vs. Luxembourg

I get to open the museum tomorrow since half the exhibits team is away. But, ummm, yay overtime? Ms Peach and I had a fairly productive day…cut down some dead trees, dealt with the already downed shrubbery, trip to the dog park where she got to run around like a doofus for an hour or so.

JtC Seems Harry’s daughter has a good head on her shoulders. As suggested above, either use the money to take him out or donate it to a worthy place.
