(Somebody had to do it!)

Afternoon all. Mowage has been completed (79F when I started, 92F when I finished; there were a couple of rest breaks in there). Four big bags of clippings collected so I think I got my daily exercise in. Was a great excuse to take a long hot bath, and am now relaxing from my exertions.

If you remember earlier this week, my phone mysteriously shut down and wouldn’t work for nothing. Got a new one and today, just for grins, I tried the old one and…it showed 0% battery, so I plugged it in and now it seems to be working. Why I could plug it in on Tuesday and get absolutely no response is still a mystery. May check with someone more skilled than I with phones before attempting to return the new one.

Wheelie, well played.

Nellie, just looked it up and I was Born on a Monday which does not seem to describe me at all, I prefer the Solomon Grundy option. And hope relation’s house is OK.

Different places, different tastes. The place I go to has real pecans embedded in the ice cream, which is one of the things I love about it. Enjoy your travels.

Taters, is grand-daughter anticipating the tooth fairy?

Ok, I feel like nappage is coming on, so take care all.

Off I go. Will most likely get …

  • {hands over credit card, no word about the NAME on the ORDER just shoves money in my face}

  • “Uhhhmmm … my wife called it in?”
    What’s your wife’s name?
    { phone ringing, one finger up at me to wait …}

  • “Jesus, what’s taking so long?!?!?”

  • Yeah. Can i get … um … hang on {phone call} yeah, what you want?

My responses for your employment enjoyment. But not on nights the GM from Hell is visiting:

  1. Hold the card as somebody from the 1880s might regard a social calling card. So two hands at arm’s length at about your chest height. Intone “Card’s the name. Visa [pause] Card.” Or else “Card’s the name. Master [pause] Card.” Or else just read the person’s name off the card and mispronounce it badly. Double points if they’ve got a weird name you can butcher to humorous or better yet scatological effect.

  2. Turn your back, deal with somebody / something else and stay busy with them / it until 5 minutes after jerkface gets off the phone. “Oh, I didn’t realize you were done. Lot going on here right now.”

  3. “Jesus ordered first. You’re next. But he’s feeding a multitude, so it’ll be awhile.”

  4. See Answer #2.

The school had been having issues with losing their internet when it rained, of all things. I went outside to look at the box where the connections are, and I called FCD out there - when discussing what was connected to what, he noticed that there was no ground between the splitter that went into the school and the ground terminal that the cable company put it. He made a little jumper, and lo and behold, there is internet!!

I moved some computers around but Daughter and her #2 will have to figure out things from here. We also got 2 of the PA system speakers working, so yay for that! And I learned how to put RJ45 connectors on the end of CAT6 cables - go me! So I’ll be doing that tomorrow while FCD installs switches and wires the rest of the speakers. Slowly but surely we’re getting stuff done.

Anyway, we’re home and chillage shall fill the rest of the day. Read all, retained little. Hugs and smoooshy cheek pinches all around!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 19c/66f as I sit here in your present or your past. In a couple of hours I will be starting my trek to my usual timezone in most of your futures. How bizarre is that?

We had a lot of fun on this trip and are already planning the next one. Weather app says “This stupid fucking angry day ball is shining up in the sky again. Such a stupid fucking ball!” Weather app will be pleased to know that it’s most likely wet and miserable at home.

Happy Swampy Day I hope the celebrations are fun and you manage to cope with a bit less slothage than usual!

Taters I hope you are enjoying your time off work and you get to catch up on some much-neeeed rest.

Sari sorry to hear about the legal trauma and stuff. Better to get everything checked out properly and get it right.

JtC sending you big hugs, just 'cos.

Oh, my gosh, I can’t stop laughing over this.   I hope shoe uses it!

BooFae, I’ve turned toward SeaTac to wave goodbye. Thank you for blessing Washington (and the other states) with your gracious presence. Safe travels!

Me too. Well-said Nellie.

Make sure you don’t get on a plane going West the long way home. If you do, you’ll end up in our days of future past / passed and all sorts of weird lyrics will ensue.

Yes, if it were practical, I would have wanted to keep them all.

With “Baby” way back in 2012, I just didn’t see it as practical for us to have more than one cat.  Allie was certainly making her opinion very loudly known on the subject, and at the time, I figured that she was right.

I guess Buddy was rather clever about how he worked his way into our home.  He’s not the first cat that would some times come in and visit with us, and then go on elsewhere.  off the top of my head, I can think of one other cat that occasionally visited us*.  It didn’t turn out to be much of a step from coming over and visiting us for several hours each day, to moving in.

Now the pair of cats from last December rather clearly proved that there are limits.  Four cats is just too many for our present apartment, especially as poorly as they all got along.  As sweet as they were as individual cats, the two of them, on top of Allie and Buddy, just proved to be unworkable for us.

*  Remember this little guy, from back in 2015?  At the time, we assumed he was a stray, until we learned that he actually did have a family.  I suppose that if he had been a stray, he might eventually have become our cat the way Buddy has. In fact, looking back at that Facebook post, it looks like you were on the verge of assuming that that was going to happen.

Dang, missed it by half an hour. I guess that’s why I stopped at floozy.

Got this one nailed, though, LOL!!!

I hope that is all the damage, but still. Dang.

That is how my beloved Razr met it’s end. Something connected to the charging port started shorting so it would only charge when the stars were right and finally it couldn’t be fixed again.

Can you look at the pins in the charging port and see if any are bent? You might be able to carefully straighten them out. Or someone with proper tools and young eyes and knows what they are doing might be able to help you much more than my feeble suggestions.

Hugs are always appreciated, thank you.

Today we tried to go to the Basque museum, but the street fair meant there was no parking close enough for us so we went to the Boise Art Museum and looked at Japanese textile arts. Mom got tired before we got through the first wall, so we asked for a wheelchair. I was really happy that Mom tolerated it so well, it made the visit so much more enjoyable. We saw some beautiful work and were constantly reminding ourselves to not touch. Once we got away from the textiles, we were able to trust ourselves again.

I’d like to get her one of those neato rolling walkers with a seat and a basket so she can have a little sit down and a drink whenever she wants one. I plan to be pushing her around in other places this week, maybe after she gets used to that, she will be more amenable to the idea for when I’m gone and she doesn’t have anyone to push her around anymore.

We stopped at a roadside fruit stand and I bought some huckleberries. TIL that I don’t really care for huckleberries but they are way too expensive to throw away so I’ll see how I like them frozen and then covered with heavey cream. I also bought a Santa Claus melon because I haven’t seen one before. I’ll try that for breakfast tomorrow.

Howdy Y’all! Been a fun day for the most part with some stress thrown in for good measure. The fun part was havin’ everybody over even if’n it did begin to rain and we couldn’t be at the cee-mint pond. The rain made the weather bearable enough for us to be on the back porch, which was fun. We et around three, lounged a bit to digest, and then had cheesecake and strawberries. Everyone was gone by five p.m. The stress (it wasn’t too bad) part happened around one when I got a call informin’ that one of the Bishop’s assistants (her title is Canon of the Ordinary, anybody who desires can look that up) is in town today for another event and desires to be with us at St. Patrick’s tomorrow to preach and Preside. Fine by me, but I spent a couple of hours textin’/callin’ folk that needed to know and to make sure we have the right set up for Communion and so forth tomorrow. As I was (and still am) a bit tipsy I had no intention whatsoever of gettin’ behind twuck’s wheel. Anywho, everything is in place. I’ll just be over earlier than usual tomorrow to make sure it’s all good. She’s tryin’ to give us grief over havin’ Communion from reserved Sacraments when we don’t have a Celebrant, but I am armed with proof of permission from the Bishop to do so. She could have known that fact herself had she only asked the Bishop. Oh well, it’s her liable for a chewin’ by the Bishop, not me.

I was born on Thursday. I’d rather have been born on Friday. Instead, like JtC said, I had to settle for floozy.

Thanks all for the bday wishes. They made a grumpy old man almost semi-smile. Oh and, Wheelie < golf clap >.

Hippy burpday, swampy!

I have read much, but retained little, except quietly, so sorry to hear about Pixel.

Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace.
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go.
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living.
And the child born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.

You’ve already seen this swampy, but I’ll share it here too.

That’s the way I remember it, but I like nellie’s better cause then you get a 1 in 7 chance of getting to be a whore. Or at least lecherous.

I’m a Tuesday child~”full of grace”. Hah! So much for that piece of folk wisdom. I would have blown “fair of face” just as much or more.

It is to laugh. I’ve seen your pic and you are beautiful.

We went kayaking on Lake Padden today – my first time in a sit-inside kayak, and my first time kayaking in fresh water. Not much of a workout, since 'Yakwife is slow and I spent a lot of time drifting or braking, but fun.

Getting home around 14 o’clock, I thought it was time for lunch; but SWMBO wanted something more akin to dinner. Everything came from Trader Joe’s: Kebabs, tzatziki, feta, Kalamata olives, and dolmas. (I had mine on a plate. The Spousal Unit made wraps with Carb Balance Spinach Herb tortillas, which were not from Trader Joe’s.) Good stuff. Gotta get another bag of kebabs and some more Kalamata olives.

Now we’re having Santorini Sunsets: Ouzo and orange juice, ice, and a splash of Grenadine.

The light just shines from our friend BBBoo
