(Old) Whatcha want on your MMP...izza?

Southern accent.

Good morning!

It’s 58F and clear outside. The expected high is 78F, and we’ll have mostly sunny skies too. All, in all, a pleasant day.

quietly, I’m so sorry about Pixel.

sari, I’m glad there has been a little clarification regarding the estate. I wouldn’t trust them either and definitely would have an attorney review what they send if you can.

Ms. Dog knows good people, nellie!

My granddaughter lost her first tooth yesterday. It went from wiggly to gone in one day. It’s been quite a week for the kids; a move across the country, their 10th wedding anniversary, and now Zoe has lost her first tooth! Jesus, she was just a baby and is growing so fast!

I called the vet yesterday, and thankfully, I don’t have to bring Polar in. They prescribed some meds for his skin infection based on what I told them and the pics I sent. I will pick them up today.

The Jeep has been scheduled for an oil change, tire rotation, multi-point inspection, cabin and air filter change, wiper blade change, etc. on 8 August. It’s further out than I would have liked, but I can’t help that.

I dinked around some in the yard yesterday but didn’t go anywhere. Today, since I’ll be out and about picking up Polar’s meds, I’ll cruise the blue and orange stores, plus a nursery down in the valley.

I guess I best get going. Places to go, stuff to do, and daylight is a-wastin’.

:pours a bit of bourbon in a glass and passes it over:

I can throw a few in there too if we’re starting a club.

nellie, MsDog knows who she likes to hang out with. Isn’t it fun when dogs want to spend time with you?

Happy birthday swampy! Enjoy your celebration.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. On the agenda today is syncing my new phone with the car (expect much cussing from the middle of Tennessee), harvesting some herbs, making some pesto from the sweet basil harvested and likely a short trip to the grocery outlet. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy, happy birthday, Swampy! May the day be filled with fun, sloth, love, and cocktails!

In a miraculous wonder, a few minutes ago I got a fresh email from Amazon saying my package was delivered. With a picture of a non-descript front door that could have been any of 200+ right-handed doors in my building. Carefully aimed to not include the apartment number sign adjacent to the door jamb. But at least it was obviously in my building.

The fact I’d gotten an “It’s been delivered” email last night with no picture notwithstanding. And another email in Spanish a few minutes prior to that one saying they were having trouble with the delivery & could I contact them to help out?

One of those “Were you lying to me then or are you lying to me now?” situations.

Happily enough, there it was, nestled safely at my feet outside the correct apartment door. YAAY!

Hence me leaving the state and never looking back!

I’m just fine with this part of everything, btw. Once Mom is gone, sister is as well. I’m certainly not going to fight her over the house or being left out of the will. I will be able to block her number, stop giving her kids and grandkids money or gifts (they never bother to thank me or even indicate something has arrived without being prompted, so I assume they won’t miss it) and will never think about any of them again.

Idaho is pretty, but it doesn’t have anything special so I won’t have any reason to come back. Today I am going to a street festival and maybe to the Discovery Center if it isn’t too kid packed. If it is, I will go Monday. They have a big interactive Star Wars attraction that just opened, hopefully all of the excited young people will be there and I can go to the other things without getting in anyone’s way. (I’m slow, I tend to get in the way in a crowd, so I try to avoid them.)

And the really really :sunglasses: kids were born on Saturday.

Working at the school about to test the new internet connection. Fingers crossed…

Last night I discovered I left my phone at the office…and I have a 4 day weekend, oy! Luckily, our building have extended shuttle hours on Friday, and I was able to get to and from fairly easily. Half hour later the storm hit.

This morning I decided to stay home and have ice cream for breakies, instead of going on the shopping trip. Later I will order food from a nearby Italian restaurant that will cover the 4 days.

Waiting for my get up and go to kick in.

HAPPY SWAMPY DAY! :champagne: :birthday: :gift: So glad you got yourself borned, Mister Bear!

In honor of your big day, the Army of Mump will give you a 21 bun salute.

My sister-in-law texted this morning to say a tree fell on their house last night. (This is the house we’re all going to stay in in a week.) Nobody was hurt, but the roof got damaged. I have tall trees behind me, but there’s an apartment above mine, so I don’t have to worry about a tree falling on me, but the guys upstairs might drop in.

Thanks for the kind words! I feel lucky to have Ms. Dog in my life. As Mom would have said, she’s got “personality plus.”

Taters, losing a first tooth is so exciting! I know it makes you miss them even more.

pilot, sounds like it should have been a Dylan tribute concert: A hard rain’s gonna fall.

sari, that attorney sounds like he smokes too much weed. I hope this all gets resolved soon. It seems like it’s been dragging on forever.

Is this a koan, or is my foggy little brain missing something?

Happy Birthday Swampie! I hope your day is full of everything you deserve and a cherry on top!

I do, thank you. That’s why I’m not upset over this, I have everything I want. Well…mostly I just want Mom, but you know…

I agreed with the others that dogs know people, and I’d sure want to come and visit you too!

Is the house livable while repairs are happening? Do they have cats? I am here to tell you that cats do NOT like having their roof repaired. They super do NOT like it if the roofers pound so hard that the bathroom vent fan falls out of it’s fitting to clang on the floor. If we ever have to have our roof worked on again, I will be sure to have some of the gooood catnip handy.

Happy Saturday!

Happy Birthday Swampy!
Your BD plans sound perfect.

No park this morning, I slept in.
We’ll be heading over to Barky/Humpy house later, so the pups will have a play date.
Since her house is near the PO, I can mail the letters that didn’t get mailed yesterday.
Humpy doesn’t like the GR, so we’ll see how that goes. She’ll probably fit as much of herself in my lap as she can, and growl if they come near me. I tell her she is not allowed to keep my own dogs away from me. Barky likes the GR, but she scares them when she barks at them.
Echo and Humpy always got along well, but Echo doesn’t like Barky at all.

Whenever da Jungle delivers a package here, they take a picture, so I know it was truly delivered.
It’s also how I knew when they delivered it to the wrong house. It wasn’t my front door in the pic, but I knew whose it was.

Everybody is different MetalMouse.
One of my dog parks friends said he could barely walk into the doctor’s office, he got the epidural, and practically danced out.

A Saturday baby here.
What’s cool about being born on a Saturday and ‘must work for a living’?

Hopefully all this damned estate stuff will be settled soon.
The house I saw is still up for sale, so I think once everything is settled, I will put in the offer.
One nice thing, all the trees on the property are far from the house.
I’m still looking at other houses online. I found one I really wanted to see, but I wondered about the low price. It’s going up for auction, very unlikely that it will go for that low price.

I’m already in NC with my sister, although I still buy presents for her children and grandchildren, even though she does nothing for my son. I’ve been having lots of weird dreams lately and stuff about her keeps coming up that I had forgotten.
I always wonder what I did wrong for it to be this way, but I think my dreams are telling me, there is nothing I could have done differently.

Time to get ready to go.

Something I meant to do prior to surgery and never got around to. The poor beast is also filthy inside and out, but at least we don’t have a daily commute of any sort. The car is seven years old but only has about 18K on the odometer, so it’s pretty much like new in the wear and tear department.

Yeah. Me too.

The way you dropped off mid sentence there I guess the answer is “no”. Or at least “Not yet”.

Amazon really scrimps on the third-party providers they use for delivery around here. Rather few speak two words of English. Which itself is not a strike against them as hard-working humans, but limits their utility at dealing with doormen, written delivery instructions, posted signage, etc.

We get pix on about 1/3rd of the deliveries at most. Half the pix include the apartment number sign adjacent to the door. The other half are simply the bottom of a door and a floor that looks exactly like all 400+ other doors on all 10 floors in this building. So the pic is definitive about one in 6 deliveries.

Her Ladyship got a phantom delivery that included a pic of her package and a door & a floor. Which door color and flooring style does not exist anywhere in our building, not even in the lobby or other public spaces. Where on Earth was it? Who knows? Amazon sent her another one.

Her son once had sorta your experience in Chicago. An Amazon package was allegedly delivered to the vestibule of his 3-flat. But nothing in the pic was right about the doors, walls, or floors. The package was both special and urgent, so he combed the neighborhood looking for a vestibule matching the picture. Of course it was February; how could it be otherwise? Found it two streets over at an utterly different house number (!!!). Fortunately he didn’t get busted (or shot) for what would have looked like porch piracy.

There is vast wisdom here.

You’re gaining wisdom.

Once you really grok that you not only can’t fix it but could not have prevented it you’ll be ready for the final step to enlightenment that jane has mastered. Complete indifference. They’re just another name in a phone book you’ve never opened from a city you’ve never been to.

One thing I find useful is to have a very distinctive doormat. That way, if the picture doesn’t show that doormat, time to go hunting.

I believe she said that if another home wasn’t found for him, she’d keep him.

Of the UCDS cats that we’ve declined to keep, this was by far the easiest to pass on to someone else.

You make it sound like we didn’t want to keep them. I at least did. It just wasn’t doable.

Finally caught up. You‘ll a talkative bunch. Hugs to silently and JtC.

Today we’re leaving Ocean Beach, San Diego and we’re going back to Seattle to spend more time with my parents.

Metal Mouse I finally had butter pecan ice cream in a waffle cone, and the butter pecan was not as good as I remembered, but the cone was.

@Seanette I did get to try a Strawberry Frosty - very yum. Funny thing, I was telling one of my friends and she wasn’t even aware of it. She generally doesn’t eat fast food or watch broadcast television, so it’s maybe not that surprising.

Oh, and Happy Swampy Day!

There’s a number of volleyball games right in front of our rental. I know I‘m not going to get hit, but I keep wanting to duck!

Damn. That’s a tough decision. Parents are great, but Ocean Beach … Sigh.

The house is livable, I think. From the photos, it looks like the (brand new) skylights were destroyed. I can’t tell much more. The tree mortician surgeon is there now to dispose of the deceased. No cats. My sister-in-law is allergic to furry critters. It’s too bad because nothing de-stresses like a dog or (when they’re in the mod) cat. Excuse me, dawg or cat.

sari, it’s a shame your sister is the way she is. It’s kept her from really knowing you.

The cool kids work hard for a living, so not only cool but possessing a good work ethic! I was born on a Thursday, so I have far to go, and I guess I’ll have to walk there.

While looking up the nursery rhyme to make sure I remembered it right, I came across this 1775 version from The Original Book of Knowledge (Bolding is mine for readability):

A Child born on Sunday shall be of long Life and obtain great Riches; A Child born on Monday shall be weak, and of an effiminate Temper, and seldom come to Honour. A Child born on Tuesday, shall be given up to the Inordinate Desire of Riches, and is in danger of dying by Violence. A Child born on Wednesday, shall be given to the Study of Learning, and shall profit thereby. A Child born on Thursday, shall arrive to great Honour. A Child born on Friday, shall be of a strong Constitution, but very letcherous; and if it be a Female, she is in great danger of turning Whore. A Child born on Saturday, shall be dull and heavy, and of a dogged Disposition, and seldom come to good.

Do with that what you will.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWAMPBEAR!!! At least you are older than me. Well, by all of five months.
