(Old) Whatcha want on your MMP...izza?

I must add my condolences to Quietly for the loss of your Pixel. We go into pet ownership fully aware that we’ll probably outlive them, but it never gets any easier.

JtC, will you and your sisters inherit your Mom’s house together after she’s gone? That will make for an… interesting situation.

Moooom, good for you doing all that work to help at your daughter’s school. But it’s a sad commentary on the state of education in this country that you have to.

Nope, sister gets it all because life has been so unfair to her.

I’m hoping Mom will be able to gather up the stuff she wants me to have so I can take it with me. I’m fairly sure she doesn’t have anything to make it worth driving back and dealing with sister, so this is my last chance to get it. (It is all needlework stuff. If I needed it, I would have it. I have things she’s done hanging on our walls. I don’t need 4 yards of even-count linen to remember her by.)

Evening all. I think I said this morning there was a 10 per cent chance of rain…should have taken that bet, we got about an hour’s worth of wet to include thunder and lightning this evening. Had my Big Bowl O’Salad for dinner and tried to keep up with my You Tube channels, thought about going back to the gym but decided not to. Tomorrow will probably be mowage once the grass dries out some.

Nettie, glad Weeble (did he wobble?) is in good hands…or should I say moving from your good hands to another’s.

JtC, families are the hardest thing to live with, IMHO. Despite living together for 15-20 years people just go their own way…see Sari for an example. Best wishes and hope you get what you deserve.

boo fae, seems to be a week for long-distance flying, first Sensei and now you. Take care and give the fuzzballs a couple extra scritches from me.

FCM, don’t think I’ve ever watched a single episode of Major Crimes. I am of the opinion that, if you have most of the cable channels, you could watch a Law and Order show 24/7 these days.

OK, getting a little late so need to be thinking about bedtime. Take care all.

It was a hot walk to the gym and store, and…nope, not going to gripe, not when so many of you have bigger things to gripe about.

I got home and was just putting things away when there was a knock at the door. It was Ms. Dog and her person! Ms. Dog threw herself at me. Her person, Jen, said they left their apartment to go for a walk, and Ms. Dog planted her feet and kept looking in my direction, then kept drifting this way and finally pulled her up the stairs to my door. It’s nice to be wanted, especially by a dog.

Quietly, I just noticed that autocorrect made Pixel into Pixie. I’m sorry.

JtC, ugh, I hate it when the least deserving sibling gets more than deserved. Do you have all the old photos and other keepsakes you might want?

Flyboy, the salmon sounds wonderful. Also, Batteries and Bulbs replaced an old watch battery that required a screwdriver, if that helps any for next time.

Don’t be. That’s usually what I called her.

Weed and whiskey - Can’t fix things, but they can make you numb for a bit. Tomorrow it’s back to the new normal.

{ lights one, passes it over }

It’s all I can do.

I got my epidural done.
It doesn’t hurt they said, you’ll only feel pressure, they said.
Bullshit!
That ‘pressure’ went down my legs and up into my belly. I got cramps afterwards, and have been getting them off and on all day. I still hurt, but in a different way.
I think a good night of sleep may make a difference.
They said I didn’t need a driver, but some people do because they feel a little woozy afterwards. The doctor wants to do another procedure, and I will need a driver for that one.

I’m supposed to put ice on the shot site every hour, but until it hurt, I forgot to.

After that we went to pick up a script. After sitting at the window for 15 minutes and being ignored, we left. We went home to pick up the pups, then went to get my son’s glasses. I wanted to go to Brusters, but they didn’t open until noon, 45 minutes later. I saw a Roy Rogers and got some lunch since I didn’t eat anything but a hard-boiled egg.
Going to Brusters on one of the hottest days of the year was kind of stupid. None of the tables had umbrellas and they had no way of packing up a cone. We tried to eat it fast, but I ended up in the truck with the AC running. I sat in there with the dogs, my son stood in the parking lot. The pup cups had lids, but there was no way I was letting the pups eat them in the truck.
Brusters makes their own waffle cones, and they are pretty soft. The cones were falling apart as the ice cream melted. My son and I had ice cream on our shirts, on our pants, on our shoes, and I had it in my hair.
When we got home, the pups got their cups on the deck.
Adam pushed his way in and had a little ice cream too.
Misiu is better. You’d never know Rayleigh was hurt, he is full of piss and vinegar. I have a rug in the kitchen that covers part of the AC vent. He pushes that rug up and flops right on the vent.

We didn’t make it to the PO because I realized I didn’t put the paper in the envelope so that the address shows through the window.

After we got home, I was going to sit down and call the lawyer referrals.
Much to my surprise, I got a call from the lawyer handling my mother’s estate. The one who said he couldn’t talk to me.
He apologized for the error, that it was his firm’s mistake. I said yes, and I was advised by my lawyer not to sign it. He said I could cross out the bad info and put in correct info, but that was a hard NO from me.
I said no offense, but in light of several things that have happened, I don’t trust any of you. He said yes, that happens. He was going to send out new forms today, but decided he wanted the money person in the office to check the figures. The new forms will be mailed on
Monday. Then he said something about my son not signing the forms and I said he lives with me and he isn’t signing his until mine is correct.
So, was it a typo and an honest mistake? Probably. Do I trust any of them? Absolutely not!
They also forgot to include the report showing how the money was distributed.

While I had him on the phone, he cleared up a point of confusion for me. The amount, even corrected, is way too low. The annuity was not included in the total amount, because it isn’t going to be cashed in. We all get a percentage, then we can do what we want with it.
Now I have to create an account with that company and give the account number to my niece.
I don’t like giving out that kind of info, to anybody.
Bad enough I had to give her my social security number.

We got the thunder boomers tonight that we were supposed to get last night. The power flickered but didn’t go out.

Safe travels home BooFae

I wondered why Weeble looked angry. A bath will do it. I hope he finds a nice home; he is cute.
Black cats are my favorite.

I think I have never seen Major Crimes

JtC, one day we will have to compare sister notes.

{{Quietly}}

So much for going to bed early tonight.
I plan on sleeping in anyway.
And we’re going to Barky/Humpy house tomorrow to pet sit them for a bit. We’ll take Echo and the GR with us, so five dogs to watch.

All I’ve got is … I told my manager (who is strong as shit and opens my jars for me) …

Shoe: Hey, you remember how you opened jars for me?

Manager … yeah?

Shoe: Guess what I just ordered on Amazon?

Manager: A jar opener?

Shoe: … no … but, um hey, gimme a second lemme just get on my phone real quick? (Fuck, good idea!)

Narrator: She had two jars on order. Also, some shelves she’s not sure how to assemble.
Now, a jar opener.

ETA who wants to put together some stoopit-simple shelves, and open a coupla jars, in western Mitten State?
Payment includes being yelled at by an idiot cat, and possibly meeting one, or two, snakes, if you would like. Or not.

Busy day here; nearly 60 posts since 9am my time.

Congrats on rehoming the kitten so quickly.

Congrats on progress, hair-pulling though it is, with stoopit sibs and messed up estates and all the rest.

Our 3-couple dinner came off well, and the concert was, well, underwhelming. A Neil Diamond tribute group that had heavily rearranged all the famous songs to disguise the fact they really couldn’t play very well. Nor sing. But the evening was warm, the almost half Moon was shining brightly, the price was right (free), and the company was good.

We’d walked over from home whereas the other 4 folks had driven together. After the last tune we split up. About halfway home I was surprised to feel light sprinkles. In a mere few minutes a cloud had moved between us & the Moon and we were getting dampened gradually. 3 blocks left to walk & we both had umbrellas. Her Ladyship instantly deployed hers. I’m not quite so water soluble, so I left mine furled.

As we got to the next intersection and had to wait for the traffic light the sky opened up. Most of the last 2 blocks are under the eaves of small retail, but it was pouring pretty darn good. I was glad to deploy my umbrella too. Made it home before the sidewalks had gotten deep enough to soak your socks, so all’s well that ends well.

While we were gone Amazon had promised a package, then failed to deliver it, while claiming they had. Looks like I’ll be spending some time with “Peggy” in India getting that straightened out. It’s very common in this large secure building that Amazon-branded drivers don’t want to bother with all the effort necessary to get to your apartment, so they just pitch the packages someplace and claim they were delivered. You’d think Amazon would get wise. No sign so far.

Knew a woman who called it “a frog-strangler and gully-washer”. After my first visit to the Philippines I told friends that the only time the temp and humidity were bearable was ehen it was raining cats, dogs and baby elephants.

Shouldn’t that be “emigration”?

{{{{Jane}}}}

I much prefer The Rocky Horror Muppet Show.

{{{Silenus}}}

I’ve never understood why people spell ‘dog’ this way.

Because it’s funny.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

“I am a smol god. Why did they pour water on me?”

Yay!

My Aunt Mary went to different schools together with Bruce Springstein.

< pours a dram >

Nor should you.( I won’t say lawyers will do unethical things for their client, but 3 of my friend’s ex’s divorce lawyers got disbarred.)

that’s how it’s spelled in Georgian.

Hello everyone, finally back from boat maintenance/camping trip. Got her highness pulled out of the water and de-barnacled, while I sat in the office enjoying the A/C (it was nearly 100). Generous tip to the poor guy who did all the work and he let me ride the boat on the travel-lift back down to the water (easier that way, but probably gives their lawyers the vapors). Made arrangements to have younger, stronger guys wrestle it onto a trailer next week, while all I have to do is hook up the truck and pull it to its new home. Also, got the marina to weigh it out of curiosity. It (and trailer) are easily within the new truck’s tow limits, so it’s trip back “home” will be easy.

We both got jury summons last week, and dutifully filled out the online forms. Our county does the wait-in-a-room-until-they-decide-they-don’t-need-you routine via web, saving most a journey into town. A few days later, Mizpullin got her email/text that she wasn’t selected and is free to go about her life, as expected. However, my email wasn’t good news. It demanded I dress up and present myself early in the morning next week, at Judge So-and-So’s courtroom, along with the pleasant threat to arrest me if I don’t show. Then a link to a detailed questionnaire which asked a lot of personal info and other questions. The “other” questions foreshadow a gruesome trial I’d rather not attend. Also, it will foul up a lot of plans, and likely cost me big bux. But, I have no choice so off I shall go. FTR: No posting details about it here. Not sure of the rules but it seems the safer option.

Wow, sorry to hear about this. I’m more familiar with parts of it than I want to be. You have my sympathy and best wishes.

In other news: pullinDaughter is finishing her wreck dives in the Med. Sent cool pics and even BDay wishes to one of us (holding a sign at 160 feet down). She’s beginning the slow crawl of buses, ferries, taxis, and whatever to work her way back to a bigger city. Plans to be home in a week or less. pullinSon has finished the last step (they call it IOE) to becoming a real employee of his new company. Spent a few weeks riding around with a training captain, and all went well. He’s still jazzed about all of it and has a week off before joining the grind.

I still have a lot of small tasks to prepare for both the boat move, and our long vacation trip next month. Today I’ll try to get the wheels back on the trailer (experts say these are important!) and start replacing some deteriorating seals on the camper. Then run some soaker hoses around the house to combat the dry soil (it hasn’t rained here since mid-June). And call the eye-doc to see if my new glasses are in.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Note: apologies if double-posted. Nothing happened after pressing the Reply button, then screen froze. Sigh. I will retry this later.

After copy-ing to clipboard, trying again.

Edited to add: This post was from two days ago. For some reason the Reply button wasn’t responding to me. Now it finally “took”.

It is a small private school - I don’t know if they get any tax dollars for anything, so volunteers are critical.

That’s another one I hate. Especially SVU - ick!

OK, off to shower, then to get breakfast, then to the school.

Happy Saturday! Laterz!!!

Oh, wait.
HAPPY SWAMPY DAY, you old fart!!! :birthday: :champagne: :beers:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 77 Amurrkin out and cloudyish with a predicted high of 93 and partly N.O.S. JDD and Partner and the wives will show up around eleven to hang at the cee-mint pond where we will have munchies and adult beverages/beerverages. I envision us eatin’ around three or four this afternoon. The chikin will cook away in the slow cooker and the dressin’ will need to be baked along with the squish casserole and rolls, which I decided upon instead of cornbread… Everything else just needs warmin’ up. OYKW will take care of all that as I get to just loll around bein’ slothful and useless. Should be a good bday with good company and a good feast. I have to behave myself adult beverage/beerverage wise as I am Presider at tomorrow’s service.

MOOOOOOM thanks for the bday wish ya old broad!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy, Then I suppose I should make myself somewhat presentable to receive company.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

It’s probably going to be a couple of months before he’s big enough for snippage, but once that’s taken care of, he’ll have no trouble charming his new staff.

Mornin’ all. Up balconatin’ and caffinatin’. Warm not hot 45 minutes after sunrise. NWS sez 83/29 now, but I don’t quite believe them. They also suggest later it’ll top out at 92/33. We’ll see. The puffy clouds over the water are just losing their last hints of orange.

The patch on their shirt says Policía Inmigración. Half of them have machine guns. You want to argue, be my guest.

Because that’s how it’s pronounced. Actually “daaoowwwg” would be even more accurately phonetic.

Congrats to pullinSon!! Dad’s gotta be so proud. I bet he’s stoked. It’s not just a job, it’s an adventure. And thus the cycle of life continues as he starts and I finish. At least I know my replacement is a great guy.

I was in the jury pool for a murder 1 trial about a year ago. We started with about 120 jurors to get 12. By the end of the 3-day voir dire process I was one of the 108, not the 12. Your odds are good, especially if the trial will be disruptive to expensive prepaid non-refundable plans.

As the prosecutor said several times, “We all know you’re here interviewing for a job you don’t really want.”

And happy recent birthday to you or Mizpullin or whoever too!!!

Special birthday greetings to swampy All the really cool kids get their birthdays on Saturdays. The rest of us have to put up with lesser days of the week.

Morning all. Up at 6am again, so nappage may be on the agenda. Debating if I want to mow today or tomorrow, my schedule (such as it is and what there is of it) works better if I get it done today, but Saturday is usually a case of the ‘dont-wannas’ with me so we’ll see. Maybe do the back this morning and the front this evening. 15% chance of rain, but after yesterdays shower from nowhere, I’m not sure I believe them.

nellie, dog knows when a person is a good one (so do we Mumpers).

Sari, never had an epidural, after your description don’t want one. And Ice Cream Leakage is not uncommon in this season. And I have also had to open envelopes back up after putting things in wrong.

As for the will, once you get the ‘revised’ one, read it good (know you will). If you have some spare bucks, might even ask a lawyer to take a few minutes to read it, just to be sure. Your call. And can you give the new account number to the lawyer to give to your niece, that would add him to the chain of custody and make him partially responsible if anything untoward happens. Just a stray thought at this early hour.

Pilot, glad company was good even if the music was not. And yeah, yesterday seemed to be the day for ‘pop-up showers’ for Mumpers. So far Amazon hasn’t screwed up deliveries for me, but I have 4-5 of them coming in the next week or two, so we’ll see.

yanker, sounds like a pretty good deal; got the boat ready and other people did the sweating. Never have been called for a jury in my entire life, don’t know why. Hope it works out for you. And kids sound like they’re doing great.

Happy Swampy Day!!! :boom: :boom: :boom:
:tumbler_glass: :tumbler_glass: :fork_and_knife: :fork_and_knife: :fireworks: :sparkler:

OK, onward into the day. Have a good Sattiday all.

A sunny Saturday following a bit of T-storm activity yestiddy. Feeling pretty humanoid this morning. After thrashing around for about an hour with the damned muscle spasms again last night, it occurred to me that I still have a pill bottle with some 10mg cyclobenzaprine tabs (muscle relaxer) left from when I had a back problem a couple of years ago. Popped one of those and it was bye-bye birdie. Little groggy this morning, but the coffee should help clear the webs.

Now Ima dive into a big bowl of nectarines, bananas, yogurt and granola.
