(Old) What's the winter forecast in the MMP?

Afternoon all, shopping is done and I had a little extra to eat once I got home, I am actually losing more weight than I planned on (my goal was 220lbs and last scale check was 211.4). So in response I have a 5 Guys stop planned for tomorrow after soccer, that always grows the waistline. Refereeing at 8:30am, coach games at 11am and 12:30pm and have team pictures at 2:15 and 2:30pm, so should work up a pretty good appetite.

pearl, glad you are ok and property damage is minimal; Hope Yom Kipper goes OK.

flyboy, I’m planning on a cruise next year that will take me to Norway, so hopefully I’ll have my chance there to see the lights.

That…doesn’t sound like playing…

shoe, good on ya for helping her out. Hope Monkey adjusts (is there any ‘safe’ spot he can be outside in?)

Need to get out the Friday swim trunks and head over to the pool for the afternoon’s swimmin’. Take care all.

Making me hungry for bratwurst with onion sauce (no guarantee about the recipe, but you get the idea.) Hubby doesn’t like onion sauce, so I only order it in restaurants.

This is wonderful news!

We’re looking for cruise recommendations in that direction - any suggestions?

{{{FairyChatFamily}}} Sorry about Higgs

Went looking in the fridge for jelly and found two science experiments. Wasn’t expecting black olives to grow mold - don’t think that’s ever happened before. And the jelly was 65% fruit so I should have eaten it soon.

Did find some orange marmalade which is much older than the jelly, when went quite nicely with the last of the natural peanut butter (darn it, forgot to add salt) and two pieces of whole wheat (not moldy, but should get et).

Been sort of keeping up with this week’s MMP, but not enough to post much. Managed to go to the gym on Monday, and meet with my personal trainer on Wednesday and even did some exercises yesterday evening at home. So this evening I’m being lazy.

And now hubby’s getting ready to settle down and watch something on tv and he wants me to find something to watch. Always got something to do.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday, all!

I decided to have some Panera delivered for lunch, and just finished half of a ciabatta cheesesteak (w/provolone, caramelized onions, and garlic aioli drizzle; I opted out of the sweet peppers). These days I can’t eat an entire sandwich from them in one sitting and Panera has never leftover-ed well, but 1/2 sandwich with a side of fruit salad is pretty perfect. And I might have taken the opportunity to get a brownie and an almond pastry for later.

I, too, missed the northern lights last night – even though I saw photos taken in my neighborhood. Ah, well.

Work is alright so far today. It helps that a lot of people are out of the office – on both the corporate and customer sides – because Monday is a federal holiday. It’s one of three fed holidays that are “optional” corporate holidays (meaning you’d have to use leave just like any other day off), so I’ll be working. But a lot of folks won’t be, so with luck it’ll be less of a typical Monday. :crossed_fingers:

The Lego Statue of Liberty got delivered a little while ago – a day early! Woo hoo! Now I can start building it tonight, meaning there’s a better chance it’ll be done by the end of the weekend. Also, for the first time I will be keeping the “gift with purchase” set instead of giving it to my nephew: it’s a little jack-o’-lantern that lights up! I mean, look at how cute this is:

There’s an option to build it with a smiley face (and turning the ghost’s mouth upside down makes it a smile), but I think I like the “scary” version better. :jack_o_lantern:  At just 254 pieces, it’ll be the smallest set I’ve ever built; it’ll probably take ~1 hr. I’ll assemble it before I start Lady Liberty.

A Friday night of Legos, pastries, and baseball…and I’m really looking forward to it…try not to be jealous of my fast lane lifestyle!!1!

Yay! Good to see you…or, at least, your head.

Grrr! But actually I’m surprised they gave you this much notice: I get 30-60 days notice of rent increases, and I seem to recall 30 days being standard when I was living in apartments. I guess at least you have some time to plan (which I know is barely a silver lining…I’m trying!).

That all sounds amazing.

Oh, that’s excellent news! :tada:

i sent the email this morning. the property manager had at least 8 complaints about the driver this morning.

the manager sent an email to the shuttle company listing the complaints and asking why this driver was on our shuttle. the manager was under the understanding that this driver was not to be on our shuttle.

this time an immediate response came from the company, “okay, no more”.

i find the response a bit…disturbing. okay, no more what? complaints?

how about, i’m very sorry, you will not see this driver again.

this time i mentioned the 23 dollars it cost me in cab fare.

Having a wonderfully time with my son and his wife. Last night I had one dog at my feet and another on the floor beside me. "Twas very comforting.
My SIL is doing…OK. She’s got 20% less pain on whatever she’s on now. She’s realized that pain is probably her life now, as she’s had so much of it for years now, with only the briefest respites and is trying to resign herself to it. Honestly, I think she’s being realistic. I’ve been there with the eye stuff. Hope become a very expensive commodity, emotionally speaking.

Yes, I just wish I knew where I should and can afford to live. Son and I are going to look while I’m here. I don’t know if I want to live here, though. They many only be here another 2-3 years. I don’t really want to be in another apartment complex. I’d rather be in a two-flat or a small house, but those don’t go on the market this early. Sigh. Anybody have a dog house they’d rent out? I’m quiet, neat, and I don’t bark at squirrels.

Wait. He wants to kill a groundhog? How will you know whether you’ll have six more weeks of winter? Or is that just Phil?

Boy, I was that woman. You’ve had a long day, your brain can’t brain any longer, and there you are, faced with pepperoni vs. sausage. I’d have said, “Surprise me!” But you left us hanging! What kind did she order?

Also, I’ve been meaning to ask you: do you offer anchovies? I’m not a fan, but I noticed few pizza places have them any more. Did they go out of style?

You watch that kind of talk, mister. Those initials stand for something else to Nurse Boo, I betcha.

You’d think, wouldn’t you? But they’re in the business of price-fixing, and by golly, they’re going to stick to it.

Pearl! Glad to see you alive and well! I’m so sorry about Milton.

Aw, thank you. I feel like I’ve been hugged by a friendly bear.

You renegade. I knew I liked you!

And I hope it’ll e over with soon. That’s a lot of prolonged stress both personally and professionally.

Whoops! Leaving for a hike with pups and son! I didn’t get to reply to all, yet. Hmph.

Meh. Sometimes I could swear that customer service is just a quaint notion these days (except for shoe!).

I had to look up “two-flat”: I kinda like those! Apparently, in DC they are called “stacked townhouses,” “maisonettes,” or “two-over-twos” (though I’ve never heard any of those terms in my life). Something like that – or maybe an English basement – seems like pretty much the only kind of apartment I’d even consider living in again*.

*While I have options, of course.

I went and set up my table cloth where I’m selling my stuff. Then, on a whim, I decided to go vote! It’s very easy to vote early here and there was only a very short line, so I went for it. Then, as my reward, I went to the freeze dried candy store and bought some skittles for myself and tootsie rolls for my mom. Now I’m just hanging out with a poodle on my lap until it’s time to go look at old doors.

My condolences to the FairyChatFamily.

It has been twenty years since I lost the last of my pugs to old age. I, too, rather quickly got rid of her bed and thoroughly cleaned the area where we kept it. It felt like it was coldhearted, but actually, it was because the sight of her empty bed and her shed hair left behind broke my heart. I think I put a potted plant or something in its place so it wouldn’t feel so damned empty.

Yes.

The entire kitchen rolls their eyes, whoever is making the pizza dons gloves (that stink does not wash off your hands easily) and twenty feet away at the other end of all the chaos you still can tell when it comes outta the oven.

Oven Master: “Large … uh, half fishie … comin’ out fast your way!”

(It’s best to announce what you’re doing in a kitchen full of hot/sharp/heavy things that could be slingin’ your way any minute.)

Yes, now out of learned habit/instinct, I’ve said “Behind!” absolutely unironically, a lot in public now, esp. at the grocery store where people are just milling around or staring into space like lobotomized sheep.

Howdy Y’all! We were bears who brunch and then got shorn. The rest of the day has been spent in RDOS inactivities includin’ nappage and day drinkin’. Soon 'twill be Netflix, chill, and popcorn time. Plus, there’s cake, strawberries, ice cream, and whipped cream to look forward to. Life is good!

Pearl huzzah for the homestead bein’ OK and for electricicals! Hope your fast has been an easy one.

shoe love a good pot roast! Good for you for helpin’ ditzy lady figure out pizza.

Dicey I would soooooo eat bratwurst and onion sauce. YUM!

Oopsie the punkin 'n ghost lego set looks tres cool! Any night that includes pastries is a good night.

nellie ain’t dawgy therapy grand! Glad sil is feelin’ a little better, at least. If’n we were near each other I’d have a place for you to live. I’d even bark at squirrels with you. It’s usually just the one squirrel that likes to sit on the fence.

:joy::rofl::sweat_smile::rofl:

This is the one my friend Jeff is proposing to our group of travelers. Actually only 2 stops in Norway but a pretty active short cruise. If you’re interested I can help put you in touch with him (he does regular travel agent stuff too).

As well you should.

But surely it will make you lose your mind…

nellie, my mom was in pain most of her final 20 years, the docs at the time said there was nothing they could do about it…all the best for you SIL. And you could always move down here, they are building places like crazy.

Swimming is done, Big Bowl O’Salad is in the near future, and all is well.

Unless they’re trying to drive everyone away as part of a Big Plan?

Are you sure you were facing north?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Home - well, we’ve been home about 2 hours, but the grands were here and I needed to make them mac-n-cheese-n-peas. They’ve since left, and daughter took all the stuff for Trevor.

As we were driving back, FCD asked about the stuffed moose that Higgs chewed on and pretty much destroyed. I pulled it and the monkey out of the trash and I’ll launder them tomorrow and put them in his office. He’s really having a hard time with this - he keeps saying “She trusted me…” It breaks my heart. But he has agreed that she was our last dog. And when Ziva is gone, she’ll be our last cat.

Daughter took MIL to lunch then shopping at Target, Kohl’s, and WalMart. I think they enjoyed their time together.

FCD and I got an education about our boat and its fuel tanks from a guy who’s been selling this particular make of boat for 50 years, so he knows a little. We saw several corroded tanks that he removed and we saw the replacement tanks that were being installed into one boat. We’d like to have him do ours, but (pardon for sounding like a vulture) till FCD gets his inheritance, we can’t afford to have it done. So it’s up in the air for now.

Rude BBQ was OK - I had a good smoked turkey sammich and FCD enjoyed his platter, but dang was it pricey. I didn’t notice on the online menu that all sides were extra. Plus they didn’t have fountain drinks - can you imagine?? Still, it was a nice break, and despite the traffic, it was a nice ride there and back.

Tomorrow will be laundry day. The rest of today is for chillage. I hope. I’m beat.

Hope you all had a Happy Firday!

Well, since we’re south of the Canadian border and I was looking at the white glare of Vancouver..

You’re not the only one. If a lot of folks at the grocery store worked in a warehouse or kitchen, they would have been killed or maimed by their second day.

The abode is cleaneded, groceries bought and supper et. I was supposed to go pick up a Marketplace buy this evening, but the seller had a death in the family and offered to meet me tomorrow in the 'Boro (quite a bit closer) with the purchase.

My evening’s excitement will be messing around with some paper scrap management in the studio with videos and / or Pandora playing in the background. My evening will be almost as exciting as oopsie’s.

I really do wonder why they are doing this. If half the of the apartments are empty, I would think they would be lowering the rent, not raising it. I’m so sorry you have to move, moving just sucks. I hope you find a nicer, less expensive place with fabulous views.

I’m sad for your SIL, chronic pain also sucks.

Poor guy. I knew a human who went into roid rage sometimes and he said it was like he just went crazy for the duration. He was always shook up and drained afterwards because that wasn’t the person he wanted to be but it just happened. As I recall, he stopped taking the steroids Against Medical Advice and was much happier even though his doctor fired him over it.

I once made the mistake of wanting to be management. Watching that as a minion would have been so entertaining!

I saw them when I was a kid at my grandmother’s home in northern CA. Scared the crap out of me, I thought bombs or something had gone off. Grandma seemed to think that seeing them was a normal thing and didn’t even stay outside to watch them.

Skies were clearer back then.

I hate him. What is the groundhog doing to hurt him? Reminds self where she is posting and dials back the bad words.

I’m fairly sure swampy has a dishwashing machine that just needs to be loaded and have buttons pushed. You will just need to load it and wipe the counters.

Oh, I wouldn’t give the dog treats with my hands, I would give them to the driver instead. We’ve always thought that using meat appendages to give excitable carnivores or omnivores meat or meat flavored treats is a really bad idea.

I could bring my own fork.

Oh, I get it. She ran out of thinking for the day. I’ve had that happen, it is a thing.

It smells like Dad, of ourse that is his favorite place. GG takes Hub’s chair when he can and I often find Jolene in mine. Except I think that it is just a dominance thing with her because she doesn’t ask me for cuddles.

I don’t wear jammies to sleep and have stopped wearing them in the house. Sweat pants, baggy t-shirts and short shaft UGGS complete my always smexy look. it works great, if I want to leave the house, I add a bra and change into walking shoes.

I sure do get that!

Oh, GG and Jolene are being pic cute again, be back with pics!

I’m on my break, burning up my data to tell y’all the BEST story.

S.M. was making a slightly complicated pizza & I heard, “Oh, shit.” Supposed to be a medium, she made it a large.

No biggie, I get to tell someone it’s their lucky night.

Started by saying, "Hey, I need to tell you about your pizza … "

He was immediately like, "Oh, no, do I need to come back … ?

Me: { giant smile } “No. I got you.”

Hand over the pizza to one exhausted looking guy, tell him what happened, hey, it’s his lucky night, and he gestured towards the backseat.

“I’m bringing my newborn home today. It’s already my lucky day.”

My. Heart.

I absolutely stopped the entire kitchen to tell everyone that.

Once again they did the Sorcerer’s Apprentice with work, so I made it to the Garner building late. Which was fine, because the whole building shut down, and even when they got the belts running, the SSLAW continued pinnin’ for the fjords. But I get paid whether it runs or not, and this was a test week to try to iron out bugs. LOL But I got hockey, a Cuba Libré and some fish tacos. Spot is curently playing with the New Best Toy In the WorldTM, the broken off hook from a clothes hanger.

[Firefly]Ah! Curse your sudden, yet inevitable betrayal![/Frifry]

A spear and magic helmet would have less collateral damage.

The name always reminds me of The Machine from Person of Intrest

Yay! And may your fast be easy.

OOOOOOOOO!

Don’t forget, my Mom is also a (Pediatric)RN, so that doesnn’t bother me.

We say that at work,so you don’t get nailed in the head by a mini fridge going to 100 Top Blue.

After 20 years in management, I am so happy that when things go pear shaped, I just fix what I can and don’t have to explain it on tomorrows conference call.

Tuxedo Reclining On Comforter, cat hair on polyester, 2024

A lot of times , when a middling to older complex has plans to be put on the market, if it’s in a neighborhood that is beginning to be gentrified, they would rather have the place emptied out so that they can either refurb the place to rent out at an increased market rate or raze it to put up a fancier place.

If he has a vegetable garden or is lawn proud, the ground hog is likely doing damage to his crops or property. While he chose a weird way to inform shoe, at least he did have some concern for neighborhood pets.

That is museum worthy!
