I’m quite sure you are right.
I think JtC is pretty darn kind too, she just hides it better. You, my dear person are no kindness slouch either.
“Aww, guurl”, said with a slightly tilted head and eyelids half way lowered.

Aw, that’s what that bitch was sayin’ to me the other week?
(Must practice new lingo. Does one give a slightly tilted eyebrow, or is that considered to be too much?)
Sorry that Monkey’s on a (virtual) short leash - hopefully it’s only temporary.
I just posted the final epilogue, over in the mini Pit. Had to spoiler most of it.
Stay out of it - I’m just telling y’all here so you know there was some conclusion.
Monkey is fine.
The rest of the story is … not. I’m upset, and pissed off, and thankful that Monks is safely purring next to me, and more than a bit disgusted with humanity in general.
Hopefully, that tells y’all enough without filling in the details. This was a not-so-great ending to what was already gonna be a sad story.
At least - and I feel like an asshole for saying this - at least it didn’t end with Monks dying poisoned at my feet. So yay, that.
I’m sure next week will be so much more chipper!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Bad music or bad behavior? Dish, we wanna know!
It’s getting to be a little of both! One particular band was approached (along with 7 others) for the first Sharkfest - Mark contacted them to explain he was putting together something to celebrate their wedding and were prepared to pay all the bands to play. Seven bands replied to congratulate them on the wedding, said they’d be happy to play (and some of them said they’d do it for free). The other band sent a very clipped reply just saying they would only do it if they were the headline act and wanted to know how much they’d be paid. No pleasantries, no nothing.
Since then, that band’s guitarist has left and we’ve heard a lot of other unpleasant things about them. One of them dated a gig friend of ours, she’s a lovely person and he treated her extremely poorly. The married-with-kids singer has also been known to indulge in drugs and other women when they’re out on the road.
The vast majority of people I know from a lot of bands are genuinely nice people who are always happy to spare some time for their fans. This particular bunch are down on the list of total arseholes.
They said students would trash them when they’re actually good teachers
We have mid- and end-module evaluations that are internal to our dept so the students can rate their teachers and the content of the classes. Most of the feedback is not exactly useful - they didn’t like the seminar room, the slides posted online weren’t snazzy enough, the class was at a time of day they didn’t want…not much we have control over really!
And my TV is now working!
Yay! I vote for you being the TechnoMage!
Over in the DeathPool it has been reported that leading Scots politician Alexander Salmond has passed. Never met him, but I know who he is from themed lists I’ve done. It kind of gets to me because he and I share a birthday, 12/31/54. When someone just your age dies it’s kind of a wakeup. Now I just don’t want German engineer and race driver Herman Tilke to go, I’d start getting nervous.

That’s how I felt when Carrie Fisher and Anthony Bourdain died. Both were exactly my age.
I’ve had a list of celebs that were within two months of me in age. Some of my favorite entertainers. Ray Liotta, Dennis Quaid, Reba McEntire. And Denzel Washington is just three days older than me.
