(Old) When Mom's Away...A Coasterless MMP

Your boss needs to buy a BIG bottle of your favorite tipple to help motivate you after you realize that you do. not. have. enough. time.

Reasonable heaving. We have the sog/fog going here as well

Just before I left last night, I heard metal crumpling, skidding tires, and later someone doing a burnout. But there’s no debris or damages anywhere. Maybe a ghost car wrecked.

Eating cold lasagna, am I the only one who does that?
Was going to get that 3+ year old root canal ( which was never finished but always sensitive and now more so) pulled tomorrow but most places don’t take Medicaid.
Now waits til Feb. 20th. They said if it starts bothering me, I should go to urgent care and get an antibiotic. Bah!

Guessing whoever it was limped peeled rubber away from the scene.

I’ve seen cars with the bumper literally zip-tied into place. Bonus points for using red duct tape over the holes where the rear brake light gaps shine out. Yes, carS plural.

Well, room temp. I dislike re-microwaved foods. But otherwise, sure!

My nuke has two primary functions: frozen TV dinners, and - look away, all ye British! - to heat a mug of water for tea.

Afternoon all. Went over to the plumbers and settled my bill with them, it was actually smaller than I thought it would be so my budget for next month is happy. Still raining and we’ve just had a bit of thunder and lightning pass through, so gym time may be delayed to this evening. Nappage is a definite possibility, still have some sinus and chest congestion so rest seems to be indicated.

Coppertone, the ‘hurry-up-and-wait’ medical system here is a cross we all must bear. Hope your root leaves you along for a month more.

Taters, thanks for the explanation, and hope you get the time management help you’re going to need for this. And I concur with JtC recommendation to your boss.

shoe, I hope your Manager sticks around awhile, you get folks like that very rarely in management positions (as you well know).

OK, feel nappage coming on and the rain is getting heavy again, so have a good afternoon all.

Looks like IT Support has fixed the FTP problem. Now they’re like, ‘Now that we’ve fixed the problem, can we change everyone’s password?’ Um… No.

Trying my hand at making garlic naan today. The dough is in the riser, so here’s hoping. We’ll have it with some chicken tikka masala that I bought.

Finally got off my dead butt and did some exercise on the NuStep today. Ten minutes about did me in.

Looks like they’re not going to find a driver for our van. Instead, they’ll rent a smaller one and staff will take turns delivering people where they need to go. I guess these positions are hard to fill, as the requirements by the state are pretty stiff.

You know about our new Indian restaurant in town. Today I looked up a recipe for saag paneer. It included a recipe to make the paneer at home. Might have to try it one day.

Interesting. As I was snarking about microwaving a mug of water for tea, a related thread was … um … heating up.

I swear, I didn’t even know that convo was happening until after I’d posted here!

She’s quite literally the reason I keep at this job. She glues the place together, as far as crew interactions, but she also supports me - who never made a :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: pizza in my life and certainly never worked an oven - both personally and professionally.

Speaking of, today’s gonna be weird. Sweet Manager is off today, plus - looking over today’s roster - we gonna have one helluva full kitchen.
And we’ve been dead-ass slow lately.

I anticipate a lot of stepping on each other’s toes - literally and figuratively - and a lotta standing around bored.
And a short shift.

Whelp, I’ve ingested my TV dinner (butternut squash ravioli) and I have a pork chop thawing for dinner. Gonna toss some brown sugar and seasoned salt in with that bad boy & let it be all ready for me when I get back.

Things are thawing outside and I was even able to successfully pull my car up into the driveway last night, so that was a minor win in my book!

A-ha! I have returned once more, sans cat pictures. Whoops.

We are a chatty bunch. I’m trying to keep up and gradually improving.

Pilot I’m sorry to hear about your marriage. Best wishes as you navigate through this.

My mom had cardiac issues yesterday, so I spent half the day with that, and half the day recovering. Disability for the win :stuck_out_tongue: The fantastic news is that the cardiologist thinks that a medication change will fix the heartbeat irregularities.

Happy Thursday everyone.

New development in the neighborhood. The next door son has taken to dribbling a basketball in the street. People drive much too fast on the main road for that. I hope he goes to the side street more often. Or better yet, a driveway.

We spent months listening to a kid trying to learn how to do an ollie on his skateboard. His home was behind us, which was on a very busy street, so he came one block over to practice. Hours of that fucking racket. We used to pray for rain.

Has anyone actually seen someone do an ollie in person? I’ve seen countless hours of knuckleheads trying with no success.

I really have not been doing great at managing my work stress this week. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster every day. Panic, relief, hope, rage, panic again. I don’t really know why I’m having such a problem. But I do tend to get stressed when I have to work at the last minute. What bothers me the most is when I have to ask other people for things at the last minute. I try to be more accommodating of other people’s time. But when my own timeline gets pushed back, I don’t have a choice. Then I have to worry I won’t get the thing I need in time for the deadline.

And I’m coming down with a cold now. I ordered a pizza. I told my husband I’m out of healthy coping tools at this point.

At least this will be over soon.

Howdy Y’all! We actually got started early for us this mornin’, so we ended up bein’ bears who brunch at Eggs Up as stuff got did and it was still an hour before the hog trough GC would be open. That was fine by us. The rest of the day was spent in sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ (martinis today) as predicted. Now we shall proceed to Netflix and chill, plus ice cream.

So IT Support fixed the FTP issue. I thought it would be a good idea to contact the members who send their data via FTP to: A) Tell them that their login information should not have changed; B) Tell them that our IP address has not changed; and C) To please contact me if they receive any errors or have any difficulties. After (almost) 17 years at the company, I’ve never had to email ‘everybody’. Our Admin showed me how to set up a group distribution list in Outlook. It worked. I received two automated replies telling me that my contacts are no longer with those companies, and I’ve updated the list. A nice thing is that a CIO from a certain bank called me directly because my contact sent my advisory email to him. And it’s a good thin, too! We have not received their commercial accounts since August and no one answered my emails asking for them. It turns out they had a system change, and their program is not automatically sending my their file. So the CIO is going to look into it.

I’m the one who submits report correction requests to Big Multinational Credit Reporting Company, and there’s one company that keeps wanting UCC filings removed from their report. Seems like I hear from them a few times a year. Got three requests today. I had to ask him which UCC filings on the three credit reports he wants to show as Terminated, and to please provide official documentation to prove they’re terminated. He sent them. He knows I’m taking Friday off, so I can let them slide until Monday at least.

14:30 here, and I generally log off around 15:15. Hopefully I can coast into the long weekend. Wifey, RN won’t be home until 16:30 or 17 o’clock, so I have plenty of time to make the chowdah.

Our upright freezer was scheduled to be delivered on the 31th. They called to say that it could be delivered tomorrow instead. All of my plans have changed and I’m super happy. We really don’t know what is in the bottom layer of our largish chest freezer (but do know it hasn’t been there for longer than a year and a half) so tomorrow will include an afternoon of discovery!

TC friend wants to buy our old chest freezer (it works fine and is still well under the three year warranty), but she is still very sick so I haven’t told her that it will be available earlier than planned.

We got the good news early enough that we didn’t buy milk which makes me happy. There is no reason to buy (expensive) fresh dairy milk and let it sit in the fridge for a couple of days, that’s what grocery store milk is for.

I probably still will make egg bites using the free eggs and the meat and cheese tray. I love the meat slices, they are discs that fit perfectly in the muffin pans and hold the eggs and stuff together nicely when I take them out. The cheese slices are squares but they melt so nobody cares how they are shaped.

The two tubes of crackers went to the library food shelf. I was both happy and dismayed to see that everything I had left on the shelf yesterday was gone. Besides food today, I went through the linen cupboard after all of the unopened perfumed body washes and shampoos I can no longer use and then found all of the hotel toiletries I had squirreled away.

When I showed the toiletries to the library lady, she said the first person who saw them would take them all, so she put most of them in the back to put out as needed. This does make sense, you can buy chips and energy drinks with food stamps, you can’t use them to buy soap.

Or diapers. Speaking of which, I just learned that we are spending 50 bucks a month on diapers. I used our joint Prime account to buy a breast pump for my BFF’s daughter because I thought it would be funny for hubs to get the focused advertising. Being an only child and childfree, hubs has very little understanding of anything involving childbirth and isn’t too old to be flabbergasted by some of the new fangled stuff involved.

Well…due to the advertisements, he was also getting pleas for donations for formula and diapers. There is a legit charity in town that helps single moms with diapers, so hubs signed us up.

I don’t have a TBI and I would have taken as long or longer to recover. That sort of thing is just stressful, no matter who you are. I hope the medication change fixes things right now.

Pet your new kitten and smile

Looooong day, but it was a great trip. First stop was a cormorant rookery, second was a small island full of seals and cormorants, and finally, the penguin rookery. We took a bunch of photos, but until I get to my computer, I can’t post any - I used my camera, not my tablet.

The weather was glorious - around 60°, sunny, and the winds didn’t kick up till we were on our way back. We have fed our faces and we’re trying to decide if we’ll go to the show at 9:30 or just crash. In the meantime, we watching Cheers on TV. Good times…

Evening all. I actually did do nappage (nearly 2 hours, so might call it sleepage) this afternoon, guess I was more tired than I thought, first nap in several weeks. Still debating on going to the gym, I feel fairly good but my cough is in my chest now and my nose is running like a politician, so maybe not a great idea. Shirts I ordered from Amazon were due on the 23rd, are now scheduled for the 27th, although the apparently got to the main city yesterday, so we’ll see. Still 65F outside and looks like the rain has ceased, so that is an improvement. Garbage has been picked up but the recycle can is still at the curb.

Cookie, hope the naan and the exercise both do you good. And had to look up ‘ollie’, I knew skateboarders try to do that but didn’t know it had a name.

Shoe, glad the car is back where it belongs; of course, I seriously doubt you are through with winter weather yet…

{{Sunny}}, for you and your Mom.

VanGo, I’m with you, one careless dribble or chase after the ball…

Spicy, hang in there, sounds like you have a plan, just keep at it.

Flyboy, sounds like IT was on the ball, and so were you in checking in with everyone.

JtC, we have pics of the new cats/dogs here, how about pics of the new freezer? And money for diapers is a noble (albeit messy) cause.

FCM, glad you got to see so much wildlife. Now, IIRC, comes the Drake Passage to Antarctica…hang on!

OK, I think I will try the gym for about 30 minutes of predaling and see how I feel after that. Take care all.

That sounds like so much fun!
