(Old) White Out! The Official Start Of Summer MMP

Burgage was good. The Spousal Unit ate some of my keto bread, so that I wouldn’t have to eat all of it. She had Swiss cheese on hers, with avocado slices and BBQ sauce; plus honey-BBQ Fritos twisties. I had American cheese, avocado, a slice of onion, and Dijon mustard and mayonnaise. Since they were ⅓ pound patties, we had one patty left. I threw that one on the barbie and ate it without bread, with BBQ sauce and chopped onion; with the rest of the avocado on the side. We’re both stuffed.

Wifey, RN, CFCN did our toes afterward.

Howdy Y’all! I have an announcement to make. Perhaps clutchin’ pearls and faintin’ couches should be close by before further readin’. We got productive and gave the back porch a good clean up this mornin’. How unRDOS of us! I mean we spent two hours doin’ this. Then we sat out there and admired our hard work whilst day drinkin’ bourbon and ginger ale. Then nappage occurred. Sup got fixed and et with leftovers for tomorrow. I also remembered to haul the biiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. It’s been rainin’ off and on most of the day. I hear tbooms as I post, so I think it’s time to repair to the back porch and watch. Love me a good tstorm!

[Fred G. Sanford]IT’S THE BIG ONE! I’M COMING TO JOIN YOU, ELIZABETH![/Fred G. Sanford]

Go you!

Good job, you are making a good start!

I’m glad you found it, how fun! Do save and share the rest of them as you have time please.

How handy is that!

I keep going out and sitting on our nice, clean porch as well cause it just looks so nice. Plus the forest is lush and thick and the birds are busy.

The cicadas have hatched and are as noisy as can be. Back in AZ, they had a high ear-hurting screech, but these sound like a 1960’s flying saucer and are kinda distracting. I keep looking for the mothership despite knowing that nothing that big could land here.

Hubs didn’t bring any potato salad home with him, so its good that I kept some out for me. He had a New York strip steak and I ate potato salad and half a hamburger. I made him a green salad because I know he didn’t eat anything green at the potluck and then made some welsh rarebit with sharp cheddar and parm for dessert.

I took another couple of handfuls of George fur off and he’s starting to look much better. Steve liked it when I ran the shedding comb’s tines against his skin so he could feel his fur getting lighter. George is much more special so I have to just surface brush one patch until I am down to his skin and then work out. That would be fine, but he won’t hold still for longer than a few minutes before he gets bored or Jolene shows up wanting some of whatever GG is getting.

And a good evening to all. Got my swimming and exercise in and moved some weights around under direction from the trainer, so I am in good shape…of course that shape also includes a Double Meat Whataburger w/cheese and large fries because I can. Am home and not planning on venturing out tonight, there is rain due within the hour according to the Weather Wizards and I’d just as soon stay dry, thank you very much.

And got some serious scrolling to do…best be about it.

FCM, I can see your taking a serious trip north, and yeah, layers of clothes are the thing. Glad the luggage wheels have been replaced.

Taters, those jobs will keep you busy for some time, but I concur that you need to set up a routine for the long-term. But leave time to do wild and crazy things too…

Cookie, far as I am concerned, any day is a good day for a root beer float…

Oopsie, looking forward to the typewriter reveal.

So, you’ve been living 2 miles above sea level and are coming down to a Denver-level (for some of our foreign Mumpers, Denver, Colorado is called the “Mile High City”). I find that fascinating. And I’ve heard of nomads/herders using cattle poop for fuel, but never considered immolating dog poop…

BBBoo, blah indeed. Been rainy last week and will continue the trend this week, but it will get to near 80F by Wednesday, so the lightweight comforter is plenty.

52, good luck on the makeup hunt (I consider myself made up if I wash my face..). And won’t comment on BIL-to-be, but others have offered cogent comments and experiences that hopefully will be of some help. We had some roof and fence damage around here but no cars crushed to the best of my knowledge.

Pilot, hope you enjoyed the get-together.

lucky, appendages crossed that the wedge pillow helps you out.

JtC, yeah, don’t give then any excuse to run you in…and from what I have been reading, their excuses can be rather flimsy…and haven’t noticed any cicadas around here yet, they were quite loud last year, I’ll try to listen closer. Happy cat de-shedding…do you have something like this: EquiGroomer Deshedding Brush for Dogs and Cats | Undercoat Deshedding Tool for Large and Small Pets — Girl with the Dogs

flyboy, just looked up the TCM movie list, they didn’t show “Battleground” which is my personal favorite WWII movie.

red, good luck with getting companies to commit in writing.

swampy, I really need to do some Spring cleaning around my place and your shining example has made me…think about doing something tomorrow…

And time to resume browsing around the internet. Have a good night all.

“That’s for sure. That’s for dang sure”. Plus Khan sees snow for the first time.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s supposed to be a rainy day today.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 16c/60f and cloudy. Weather app says “Welcome to today. It’s a grey bucket of fucking suck outside. You’re fucking welcome.” I have to agree, it’s grey and gloomy out there. We have precipitation on and off in the forecast all day.

It’s called “What the Forecast” and should be easy to find in an app store

Taking a month to get used to not having a work routine is a very good plan, you need time to adapt to not doing the whole getting up insanely early thing! Having a routine is also good, and it’s nice to have a longer-term plan for things you’ve wanted to do but never had time for. Tidying, clearing out, reorganising…all of that is as good for the mind as it is for the body.

The world is slowly coming round to the idea that people of any size and shape should be able to wear whatever they want without judgement, which is not a bad thing! I carry more weight than I should, and I’m also pale (typical delicate English rose, me)…wearing white makes me look like I’ve been dead for a week.

Pilot I hope you enjoyed the partying and finally being able to hold a decent conversation with GF’s friends.

Do they get bothered about people smoking weed and driving? Around here, you can be roadside tested for alcohol if they suspect you’ve been drinking and driving, and now they have swabs for cannabis and cocaine.

clutches pearls

Did she paint yours a nice colour?

Good job I was already clutching those pearls after doggio’s tea-making revelation!

Yesterday was a pretty slothful day as expected, I did make chilli so there’s a tub in the fridge for me to have later, and a couple more tubs in the freezer. I gathered up all the recycling stuff and emptied that, then hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection.

The dustcart was a bit later than usual this morning as they will have been round to do yesterday’s recycling collection route as well as today’s. We have had some system outages at work today so I couldn’t access various things that I needed so I used the time wisely and ripped up my wedding photo album and cards so that could all go in the recycling bin as well. Now it’s all on it’s merry little way to the recycling centre. The album itself won’t go in the recycling because it’s not the right material, but all the packaging, the cards and the inserts are all disposed of. The photos themselves are in the normal rubbish, and I feel much better about that.

Today I am back at irk but since we all had Monday off, our rota says that each half of the team only does two days on campus so I will not be commuting until Thursday, which makes me happy. I went out earlier to take 'im indoors to the station, and am going out at lunchtime to do the grocery shopping so that will be enough adulting and being around the Great Unwashed for one day.

Yeah, my blood oxygen % is much better down at 5000 feet.

Burning dog poop works well for us. The other option is bagging it and taking it to the dump. We also get rid of downed tree limbs and stuff. Need to get a good hot fire going first.

It’s very different at new house. We get trash service, mail delivery, have natural gas (no more propane deliveries). And of course UPS, FedX comes right to your door. Heck, I’ve even had groceries delivered. It’s a whole new world for us.

Good morning Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. * YAWN* ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and rainy off and on especially this afternoon. We had tboomers overnight. One even woke me up. Today is laundry day. I am just so excitated. Other than that we shall be our usual RDOS selves. Sup is leftovers from yestiddy, so nuke and serve.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Annie has conceded and is currently sitting in her chair beside me. So I’ll type while I can.

MusicMan has gone back to work and is a stubborn man. He is there and hurting quite a bit. I’ve been filling out job applications and writing cover letters. Rah.

Today Annie will be heading to the groomer for the first time in a very long while and I will continue to organize the art stuff.

Sounds like a great plan if you want to be left alone!

How long ago were you married? I don’t recall you mentioning a spouse or a divorce since you’ve been a Mumper, not that my memory is worth a squat.

I think that’s one of the biggies that came about because of COVID - both deliveries and having the stores shop for you and load your vehicle. I’ve also noticed people randomly wearing masks - heck, I did last week when I was coughing something awful, tho, oddly, I didn’t cough at all in the store. I’m pretty sure it was just allergies, but since I have some masks in the car…

I had one of my worst nights in a long time - I’m sure it’s because I over-caffeinated yesterday. I didn’t fall asleep till after 1, then less than an hour later, I woke from a very bizarre dream. And apparently it took enough of the edge off that I was awake again till well after 3. So maybe 4 hours of sleep all told. I fully expect to nap today.

There’s a pretty big chance of rain tonight and all day tomorrow, then lesser chance for the rest of the week - not that I’m in any condition to work outside. I’ll see if I can snooze a bit in my recliner, but my brain won’t let me plan anything else for today. I fully expect to sleep with Mel tonight.

Can’t believe it’s almost the end of May and we watch TV under afghans instead of having the a/c on. Makes me wonder if it’ll be colder than normal for our cruise. I guess we’ll find out in a month.

Happy Tuesday!

I am surprised I slept 8 hours through. I don’t like to as I must take my levothyroxine an hour before eating.
Not much going on today, there never is. Grocery shopping is on the agenda.
Its been 11 days since my partial nail avulsion; Im gonna try wearing a shoe today.
Flip flop is not fun.

It was back in 1993, didn’t last all that long and ended very badly  I think I’ve had 'im indoors as long as I’ve been a mumper and he was the one you met at the Smithsonian all those years ago.

Goodness - there was no SDMB, let alone a MMP way back then! But I do remember your Smithsonian visit, and I seem to recall 'im indoors was rather quiet - no doubt overwhelmed in my presence.

OK, I think I’ll try a recliner nap.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 56°F and mostly sunny outside right now. The day will be a mixed bag, with sunny to partly cloudy skies throughout, and an expected high temperature of 76°F.

JtC, do be careful.

liirogue, I hope your future BiL gets the insurance sorted. I think his comprehensive coverage is supposed to cover him as well. I am not an expert in this area, though.

I was absolutely non-productive yesterday and slothed in the highest of RDOS form. Well, I did clean the kitchen and sweep the floor, but that’s about it. I even napped for about 30 minutes.

I did not sleep well last night, mainly because the husband kept taking his BIPAP mask off, and was scratching and tossing. Add the dogs jumping up and down off the bed, and well, sleep was elusive. I heard an owl hooting in the wee hours of the morning, too.I think it might have been a Barred Owl.

My husband wants to get a haircut today, then go to the park and take a walk. I’m sure he wants to take the pups along. Other than that, I’ll need to tend to flowers and what-not.

Oh! White. I have some white sleeveless tops that I wore with summer cardigans for work, plus a couple of more casual eyelet blouses for summer wear. I tended to wear the white blouses more when I was much slimmer, though. I haven’t worn white pants since being in the Junior High Band.

Okay, time for some more coffee. I’m sending you all my best. @Nellie, I hope you can check in soon.

Morning all. Clear outside but a 60% chance of more rain later, so glad I have nothing much planned. Working on a Big Bowl of Cereal (Rice Krispies) and once the morning internetting is done might even do some constructive things around the house…or not…

Sticky Buns, men can be very stubborn at times…I guess women can be too, but it’s most noticeable in men, IMHO. Most of our problems in History were caused by stubborn men, in my estimation…Happy grooming day to Annie!

FCM, happy nappage, I have been sleeping better, got about 7 hours in last night with only one bathroom break.

And onward into the day.

Ahhh…white.

Even as a large woman, I have no issues with white, other than I have to be more careful eating. I wore white when I worked in a nursing home and in the kitchen of restaurants. I usually have a pair of white capris in my summer wardrobe and white tops for any occasion.

Today’s agenda includes getting the appointment for the spinal injection, checking out how much COBRA would cost, given that I’ll be moving out of state, which would affect my insurance choices and calling actual movers, as opposed to brokers to price the move. Plus, I need to pop into the grocery so’s Sis won’t starve to death whist she’s here (she’s on the road now).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Yup. I shopped for my mom (she lived 100 miles away, made for long weekends) and then with COVID she could order online and they would bring them to my car. Much better. Then they started delivering, but my mom was very infirm and had to use a walker. The groceries still needed put away. Some where nice enough to do that. But it’s seriously against the rules.

I was waiting for a Lowes delivery, but needed food at new house. What the hell says I, try this online stuff. Worked like a charm, you can get early delivery like 6am which works great for me. I think the delivery was less than 5 bucks.

I do need to go to that store though, it’s at LEAST twice as big as the one I frequent. Might get some new ideas.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think that qualifies as slothing in the highest RDOS form… :winking_face_with_tongue:

I just applied for a job that I don’t necessarily want but that might work out very good for me. If the part about working for a non-profit wiping out your student loans remains, then this would be the place. They very quickly replied and we will be setting up a virtual interview soon.

Off to the groomers very soon!
