What makes sense when you’re in mad flail mode and what makes sense when you’re just lazing about being a settled RDOS are two different things.
I too am happy to pay extra to buy more hours in the day when I really need them.

johnny la, i’m sorry to hear of the patient’s passing. end of life care is difficult. that line of: am i better for knowing them and losing them vs never knowing them at all. so difficult.
crazy about the “caregiver”. hopefully it won’t take too long to get the gentleman back to health.
fun fact: wombats poop cubes, about 2cm cubes.
i need a weekend to recover from the weekend.
there was stepladder climbing as i had new curtains to hang. then multiple loads of laundry. then barbeque with cousins. on the way home from barbeque a woman was walking down the street with her skirt up around her hips. strangely she had either a jacket or sweater thing tied around her hips as well. it did not cover what needed covering. she kept pulling down the sides but not the back. there was no visual proof of undergarments of any kind. i only saw her from the back. she did cause double takes as she walked along.
i have found “the coroner” on brit box, and a fun cozy mystery series that takes place in austria. the main character is a malamute. it is a fun read taking place through the eyes of a dog. a very noble and proud dog. in the first book, a cat joins the dog in mystery solving. the dog and cat will interview other animals to find the culprit.
Fortunately, she doesn’t do end-of-life care; just the feet. But she did enter a patient’s house one morning, and found him lying dead on the floor.
I actually did know that!
Morning all. Bladder was quite industrious last night so sleepage was a little shorter than I like, but feeling fine. The Weather Wizards are saying there is a slight chance for rain so I’m bracing for another major storm, but will still try to get out and do things today. Do want to stop by my bank and see if I can exchange money (need Pounds and Euros for my June trip) or if I need to pursue another angle. Weight training is at 3pm but that’s the only firm time appointment I have.
VanGo, FWIW, I think you did the right thing. Having a steady paycheck for the next 7 months gives you a certain amount of flexibility if things don’t pan out.
flyboy, some people ain’t no damn good…glad they at least caught her and the old guy is getting taken care of. And I couldn’t do the job Wifey RN does either; couldn’t handle the emotions.
Sticky Buns, hope you and Music Man both get to doing better today.
You are wise.
Flyboy, glad the great meeting of the GF’s BFF’s went well, and I think we all know the ‘chatty’ type. Best you can do is nod once in awhile, get a word or two in, and look to make your escape (there are a couple guys at the gym like that…)
And enough for the morning, need to do the rest of the internettin’ and procure me some sustenance before heading outward. Have a good Hump Day all.
Raining here in no. Illinois. Morning shift of Ariel meds is done. Stopped at da Jewels and Ace Hardware before going home. Now to clean litter boxes.
Ariel’s vet has no children and no office with a waiting room. I’ve spent a LOT of money in the last 6 weeks. Maybe a down payment on a snazzy horse trailer with living quarters?
This must go on my watchlist! It sounds like a hoot!
Single data point, but yesterday I halved my ingestion of Diet Coke and bladder urgency was noticeably decreased during the day. The experiment continues today.
For some unknown reason, I’ve had an attack of productivity! I’ve been going thru my kitchen cabinets, dusting, arranging, and removing as I feel necessary. I decided it’s time to rehome my jam-making supplies. I haven’t made any in years and for the two of us, it’s just easier and cheaper to buy it. So I just put an ad on FB Marketplace and I asked Daughter to ask her coworkers and friends. Taking a break, but I need to get back to it. I’m maybe a third of the way done. So much stuff I don’t need, some of which will go away. Some I’m not ready to part with yet. Yet…
OK, back at it.
I’ve belonged to several over the course of my career. Mostly music and industrial though. I belonged to the UAW when I worked in the auto industry. When the rust belt hit the Great Lakes midwest full force, a lot of plants, including mine were shuttered. When I came to Nashville, I first belonged to the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners in a flooring factory, then the United Food and Commercial Workers when I worked at the chicken nugget plant (I’ll be getting a couple of hundred dollars a month retirement from them once I start drawing. Not bad for 4 years service). I have always belonged to a musician’s local and still pay dues to BMI (songwriting), so they’ve pretty much served me well. I grew up in a household with a dad who belonged to the sheet metal worker’s union when I was little, then the UAW. Mom belonged to the ILGWU and the UAW.
Among our local Indian / Pakistani expat community, call center work is pretty common, so you just may be getting someone from Nashville.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and doing some housekeeping re the insurance / medical / moving stuff. Sis and I are going to get sheveled in a bit and go the the grocery outlet for chicken livers for homemade dog food, then come home and do an hour or so sorting. After that, we’ll dine on pintos (currently in the crock), rice and greens.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Hubs likes making the bed because that means he gets to give Jolene blankie rides. I think he just likes having an excuse to wake her up because she’s so cute. She wakes up like me, just sits there and blinks her eyes while trying to focus.
Will wonders never end! I hope he is able to get in this morning, don’t want him to change his mind when he starts feeling better after moving around.
Tsk. I thought you were too smart to say something like that!
I’ve never used that service, but have considered it at times. Thanks for the warning. Does that also apply to ordering online and parking lot pick-ups? I keep thinking I should do that because it would stop impulse buys. Packages of cookies don’t look nearly as attractive online as they do when I’m holding a bag of Pepperridge Cookies in my hand.
I knew that too. I have a talent for remembering useless trivia and forgetting important trivia like how many grams in a cup of flour.
The Weather Wizards are saying there is a slight chance for rain so I’m bracing for another major storm
It’s been raining here all morning despite the clear skies prediction. It is distressing to know that weather forecasting is going to be even less reliable now that the national weather service has been doged. Le sigh.
Maybe a down payment on a snazzy horse trailer with living quarters?
And a cabana boy to cook and clean?
the cozy mystery thing is a book series by alex wagner, it starts with “cats and other calamities”. it is free on kindle unlimited i’m on book 5 now. so fun.
the coroner is a 2 series show with 10 episodes. also interesting as uk coroners are a bit different than us coroners. the uk coroner is more an investigator who looks into deaths but doesn’t do the autopsies.
Good morning.
It’s 61°F and sunny outside. It’ll be sunny all day, and our expected high temperature is 83°F. Clouds are expected to move in around 9:00 tonight, and there is a chance of light rain overnight and tomorrow. I plan to take advantage of today’s nice weather.
VanGo, you did the right thing and took care of yourself. The union isn’t paying your bills…
Johnny, I’m sorry about your wife’s patient.
Pilot, I’m not sure I could stay for long in such a loud and intense social setting. I’ve been in settings like that, where one person is clearly the energy of the group, and I find it exhausting. But you made GF happy, and that’s important, too.
Yesterday, upon his return from the barbershop, my husband and I loaded up the pups and took them over to a park for a walk. It was a workout for all of us. Buster is all about trying to get to the squirrels and chipmunks, and that park is filled with them. Maisie is always trying to catch any birds she sees. Maisie is all business and must lead the gang, so the first part of the walk was her panting and straining against the harness. She still refuses to pee while on the leash. By the last third of the walk, they had both calmed down somewhat, unless Buster saw a squirrel. I can’t convince my husband that we need to take them to some training; he thinks that repeated walks will eventually train them. While taking them on more walks helps, they still need training. I need to be serious about finding something that doesn’t break the bank. Now that I’m practicing to be an RDOS, I don’t have excuses about time limitations.
By the time we walked to the Jeep to load the pups, they were ready to go and anxious to get home. They crashed at home, but they got to burn off some energy, and that’s always a good thing. By early evening, Buster was ready for his hourly play sessions, and Maisie and Buster were both up for a good game of chase throughout the yard.
Sticky, I hope MM makes an appointment to see the doctor.
I was a slug-a-bed and slept in a little. However, I’m now sorely regretting it. I’m behind on my coffee consumption, and the window for getting to the nursery is shrinking.
Same-day delivery from Costco is more expensive, likely because they use Instacart for this service. They used to clearly show warehouse prices versus delivery prices. I have cut back significantly on Costco deliveries.
Alright, I need to get going. I wish you all a smooth, easy day.

Every store and every delivery service is different. There are no universal truths. Gotta check the specifics of your store and whichever surrogate shopper / delivery subcontractor(s) they use.
Back when I was doing this, the grocery store had about 50% of their products on the website. Stuff I knew they had carried for years and I knew was on the shelf that week simply was not on their website. Which further reduced the utility of the service for me. But might help you if they forgot to put the cookie aisle on the website.
My info may be a little obsolete and it’s certainly all local to here. Which is very different from where you are.
Good luck in your research.

As I hope came through between the lines, I did not much enjoy that aspect of the experience either. Ms. ADHD bloviates and the others gape in rapt attention. So tiresome. But I’m a good soldier and can take one for the team now and again. Which is what I did.
I was also showing the flag that I was a good BF. I know of many successful relationships that have been torpedoed by the woman’s gaggle of BFFs filling her full of suspicious sexist BS that all men are evil and … . Training this gaggle of women to not aggressively distrust somebody they’ve almost never met is to GF’s (and my) benefit too.
so you just may be getting someone from Nashville.
Fair enough. Regardless, in my old age, my hearing is bad enough, and when you layer a thick accent over it where I can’t see the person who’s talking to me, it’s a challenge.
the coroner is a 2 series show with 10 episodes
The only one I can find on BritBox is about an investigator named Jane Kennedy - no mention of a dog. And more than 10 episodes.
My sister called - she and her husband aren’t leaving on their vacation till July 14, so she’ll be able to take us to the airport on June 28. And if BIL can’t get their RV fixed, she’ll also be able to pick us up. Anyway, that saves us some stoopit high parking fees. But we need to be prepared to tip the cabbie since it’s just 2 miles from the airport to her house. FCD wants to Uber, but cabs are lined up and waiting at the airport - lots easier to my mind.
OK, lunch has been ingested. Time to get back to cabinet cleaning.

I’d be more than happy to be your character reference, any time, any where, however often you need it.
And I mean I’ll vouch for your good character, not that, as the joke goes, that you are a character (they can find that out for themselves, all in good time).
I have 2 rolls of t.p. left which will last me today and tomorrow. My friend at church said there is t.p. in the churchs pantry basket. Today Im not taking a bus to give me toe a rest. Hoping to beg some off of neighbors. Churches have been getting me t.p. for a year now as I cant afford it.
In other news, Church Guy posts his breakfasts, yesterday Bob Evans, today Cracker Barrell.
Yet hes obese, has a pacemaker, etc and complaining about his job phasing out.
It just doesnt occur to him how money saving it would be to make breakfast, not to mention yogurt is way healthier.
Our pilot niece brought us some smoked sockeye salmon from Alaska, which we had on a bagel this morning. Yummo.
Checked on our plants after exercise this morning. All looking robust, especially the tomato. I’m hoping for a productive plant this year.
AC/DC is performing tonight in Cleveland. A band I wish I could’ve seen. Brian is a great singer.
that is the one! jane kennedy, 20 episodes in all. no dog, interesting cases, not always murder.
Cats and Other Calamities by Alex Wagner | Goodreads
this is the dog and cat duo. really fun, easy reads.
Okay- it will be added to my list. Thanks.

Oh, I read between the lines, lol!
Well, I went down the real estate rabbit hole and was looking at properties and homes both within my price range and the dream properties. I do not understand why a home that is over two million dollars would have boob lights. I hate those things.
Long story short, I’m still dithering about and not getting on with my day.
AC/DC is performing tonight in Cleveland.
