(Old) Who's thinking about summer plans in the MMP?

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/58f with a predicted high of 19c/66f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Sure, it could be fucking warmer outside, but you could also have more fucking spiders in your hair. Count your fucking blessings!” It’s definitely cloudy, but if there were any spiders in my hair, I’ve just washed them out.

That is good news, I hope Hubs appreciates the care he gets in between you wanting to murderise him

Happy anniversary to you and Sunflower, hippie

Sounds like a pretty serious storm, especially if there’s mini-chainsawing involved in the aftermath!

Quiet evening yesterday, we had chicken curry for dinner (leftovers from the freezer) and watched a film, I went to bed after that and 'im indoors stayed up to play computer games and watch another film. He’s got a stock of films he knows I am not bothered about so he watches those when I’m asleep.

I was up early this morning to feed the cats and clean the litter trays, had a cuppa and a banana before heading to the gym. I have no idea how many calories I burned but I was worn out by the end of it! Came home and got cleaned up, and am having a restorative cuppa before I go and dry my hair.

Our plans for the rest of the day are to feed the mogs and then take ourselves into town for lunch. We will go our separate ways to do whatever errands we’ve got, and meet up in the pub later in the afternoon. There’s no football matches so town will be quiet, which also means the pub(s) we have in mind will also be fairly quiet. It’s ‘im indoors’ birthday tomorrow and I asked him what he wanted to do for the weekend, his decision was the pub.

We do have tickets for a couple of bands tomorrow night at the Giffard but due to some drama a week or so ago, the band I’d actually bought tickets to see will not be playing. Two of them have left the band and are back home in Wales, and the others are back home in Australia. The two support acts have said they’ll still play and our tickets will be valid for the night, but 'im indoors is not sure he really wants to go. His birthday, his decision.

Up, dressed, and fed. Coach at 8am and 9:45am, referee at 12:30pm and 2pm, so will post more later today.

Got to remember to take stuff with me, the 6-year olds get medals and I’ve got something for all the kids, and might haul some things I’ve gotten over the years to show and tell, we’ll see how it goes.

More later.

Happy anniversary hippy and sunflower!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP.

Sis and BIL (and the puppers) will arrive sometime this afternoon. They plan on staying until early Monday morning before heading back to Houston.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

And you both look every bit as happy about it now as you did 52 years ago!! It’s marvelous to be around. Mazel tov!

Good morning.

It’s 54°F and raining steadily. Steady rain should continue throughout the morning, turning to showers by afternoon. Our expected high temperature is only 60°F. This has been one of the coolest and cloudiest Mays in a long time. This kind of weather is expected until close to Memorial Day, and even then, the expectation is only partly cloudy skies and low 70s for high temperatures. I’m good with the temps, but straight-up sunshine would be lovely.

Nellie, sending you hugs. You have way more patience than I.

Happy Anniversary to you and your sweetie, Hippie!

fachverwirrt, I’m sorry to read of the storm damage. I’m glad none of you were hurt, though.

The Jeep PM was surprisingly inexpensive. I didn’t need an update for the UCONNECT or a new battery, and the brakes are still in excellent shape. I can’t explain how an 11-year-old car battery is still going strong. They said to keep doing whatever I do because my Jeep is in amazing shape. I only have just under 78,000 miles on it, so that probably helps, I guess. I’ll be honest, though, I’m still leery about the battery.

After dropping the Jeep off, I hopped in my husband’s car, and we went to the greasy spoon for brekkies. Sixty-three dollars and change for coffee, one OJ, chicken fried steak with the usual sides, and a Denver omelette with hashbrowns. That doesn’t include the tip. The portions are huge, but still, that’s a lot of money.

Once we got home, my husband finally went and renewed his tabs. I thought he had only missed last December; turns out, he hadn’t renewed since 2023! I don’t know how he didn’t get a ticket. It’s been so long since he renewed his tabs that they were forced to change the anniversary date to May. So now, we both have tabs that expire in May. I’ll probably renew mine later this week.

We left the house again around 11:30 to grab lunch at Jollibee’s. I don’t recommend it. It’s Philippine fried chicken with sides such as spaghetti and hot dogs. It also has fries, mashed potatoes, and gravy. It was terrible. But live and learn, and it’s not the end of the world. After eating lunch, we drove to the dealership so I could pick up the Jeep, and then we each went home via different routes.

Once we got home, my husband decided it was probably better to do some grocery shopping, especially since he was in public clothes and Saturdays are crowded at the grocery store. So, he did that, and I puttered around the house while the pups stuck to me like glue since we had been gone TWICE IN DAY and left them alone. I need a camera so we can leave the pups alone inside the house, but not in the kennels. I want to be gone for more than an hour or two, but trust them enough to be loose in the house and have access to the yard so they can relieve themselves. It took some time with Brandi and Polar, but we could leave them for a few hours eventually and not have to worry about anything. I want the same for Buster and Maisie.

By late afternoon, we had settled down. I went to Netflix, and he went to his Microsoft flight simulator via VR.

I like my manners on the greenish side, with firm but not woody flesh. Once bananas are fully yellow or getting brown spots, I don’t like them, and the dogs get to split one until they are gone.

My son is coming up again today, but I’m unsure what time. I guess I’ll find out. I had originally planned to go down Lowes and Home Depot this morning to pick up some container and raised bed dirt, along with garden bed soil and amendments, but I hate schlepping bags of dirt in the rain. I also need to return to the grocery store and pick up some provolone cheese and onions so my husband has all the ingredients for a Philly cheesesteak sammie.

Time to drink the last of my coffee and get my day started. I hope you all have a good day!

Breakfast for 2??? Holy crap on a cracker!! And I choked when breakfast for 3 adults and 2 kids was around $100. (Well, that, I don’t like IHOP but everyone else does.)

I hate my broadband company with a white-hot hate but there’s no alternative around here. The online chat rep gave me instructions to set it up - again - and I keep getting errors (cannot find your account) again! And, of course, we’ll be in Norway when the July bill is due and I can’t count on being able to pay it from there. So I need to pay before we leave.

We hates then we do!!!

But the sun is now shining, so there’s that.

Thursday’s prediction of severe storms and golf ball size hail never panned out. However yesterday there was a dust storm warning! Pictures in FB showed a literal wall of dust about 20 miles south of me. Very weird. My non meteorological knowledge believes storms divide north and south when they get to my area of Illinois. Today is 20 degrees cooler than yesterday, windy and not sunny. I have no plans today except to see Ariel at some point.

I didn’t go on the shopping trip, I thought that it would be rainy. Turns out things cleared up 4 minutes after the shuttle left and has been clearing and finally sunny.

Yesterday, the storm knocked out our phones and tv at the office. Stayed a bit late for the it company to fix it. They needed to be let in and have access to the server room. It is getting rather old having it outsourced rather than an it person in the firm.

I am knitting a furry black hat. It is nice that the yarn is soft, it is sooooo slickery, creating a danger of slipped stitches.

Its windy and finally in the 60s instead of 80s.
I took the bandage off my toe as instructed. Washed toe, put a regulation bandaid on.
A tiny bit of bleeding, still hurts, staying off feet.

It was one of those shorthanded days, I was on the 300 Table, then pulling cages for Blueberry loaders on the 300 Boxline, then loading on the 100 and 200 Boxlines. TPTB had me doing that til 10:35, then they let me start on the rewraps and damages. Starting at 10:50, the very same PTB starting coming up and asking how much longer I was gonna take. “dude, I just started, you guys kept me loading till past 10:30, and all I can do is work as directed.” So I got out at noon. i picked up a frozen pizza at Aldi for lunch, while the washer is washing.

:heart: :partying_face: :champagne:HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, COOKIE!!!:champagne::partying_face: :heart:

When Spot does it, it means he wants unspecified thing.

I read that as “the 6-year olds get mental”. Which they do sometimes.

Hopefully it gets better.

WAY cooler today than in previous days. It’s 2 pm and only 47F outside. Got some good rain over the past 24. Slept in for some reason. I’m usually up by seven, but it was going on 0800 when I finally came to. My new pot didn’t arrive yesterday, so I made oatmeal in a frying pan as trying to clean cooked-on oatmeal out of a non-nonstick pot was not something I wanted to deal with.

I pre-ordered Stephen King’s new book on Amazon. It’s called “Never Flinch” and is the latest in his books featuring the Holly Gibney character.

Alas I can’t mow the lawn. It is raining again. I’m devastated. :sad_but_relieved_face:

What a beautiful wedding picture, both of you look so happy!

Oh, you poor man!

Hubs just mowed the lawn, but that’s because he didn’t have anything else to do.

We had big winds and noisy thunder, rain and flashes of light all night long. Come to find out a tornado touched down a few miles away and knocked the power out. It also knocked a few of my plants over and the hummer feeder was on the ground. That’s never happened to us before, we think the wind got the feeder spinning enough to allow it to come off the hanger.

The rain has stopped but it is still really windy. Hubs was happy for the opportunity to actually use the genny and it is doing its job powering the freezer, HVAC and his computer. Usually we can use my phone for a hotspot but that didn’t work today.

We went out to Tudor’s for breakfast. He had the low-carb breakfast, three eggs and 6 pieces of meat, no toast or potatoes. I had biskits and gravy with hashbrowns. He had plain black coffee and I had a large iced vanilla coffee. Less than 18 bucks and we ate on nice china.

We went on a nice rambling drive and came home in time to see the power come on…and then go off again. Hubs went out and started tinkering with his bike and I played games on my tablet.

The power came back on an hour later, so I turn the AC down to 70F and cycled the litter robot. Ten minutes later the power cut out again, but at least my hotspot is working. Monster killin’ will be laggy, but Sanctuary will be protected!

So, more later. lights just flickered again. Full restoration is expected to be tomorrow night.

Back from the marina party. Roxy and Tobias had a lot of fun. FCD really enjoyed the hot dogs they served - I think they were half a pound each!! There was a guy on stilts who entertained the kids with bubbles and juggling. But I’m glad to be home - I’m starving and exhausted. I didn’t want to eat their snacks and I didn’t think to bring some fruit with me. So I’m having an early supper while FCD snoozes.

The car show starts at 8 tomorrow, so we’ll go early and have time to see it all and get home before it gets hot. It’s for the benefit of Hospice, so we’ll stop by the ATM for a donation.

The rest of today is for chillage. I’s pooped.

I like mine about that shade. Once they start to get speckled, in the freezer they go for nanner bread.

I had a lot of noisy storms too last night, but no tornadoes. A whole path of tornadoes through northern Kentucky did happen though. I gave Sis a head’s up, since they’re traveling through there today.

Sis and BIL are about 1 3/4 hours out. They decided to head back to Texas in the morning instead of Monday, since the truck is too full to go rock hounding as planned. She’s bringing the big dog bed in for the crate so’s my bed won’t be so crowded this time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy Y’all! Crisis averted. We are not the worst yahd in da ‘hood. It was cloudy with a little breeze so mowage was not too bad. I had a celebratory post mowage beerverage at ten a.m. Then I went out to the cee-mint pond, took off my shirt, shorts, and drawers, rinsed the dust/dirt off myself with the hose, and took a refreshing and coolish plunge. Let that be your RDA of TMI. I will pause while everyone gets out the brain bleach, clutches pearls, and/or retires to the faintin’ couch. I took a shower and whilst I did that, OYKW went and got stoner food. Nappage then ensued. We have also been in high RDOS mode this afternoon/evenin’. We watched a documentary about ABBA and then wondered why we did. Pretty much because it was as mindless as anything could be, so it paired well with sloth.

Hippie happy fiftieth anniversary to Sunflower and you. That is a classic mid 70s tux. Oh so chic and stylish for the times!

Howdy all. Back from soccer day, the kids played well, the 6-year olds got participation medals, the 9-year olds got to play 3/4 of the game (we had 2 missing) and both got to paint my beard, get a gift certificate from me along with a foreign coin and got to see some stuff I brought home from my travels (the Fez from Turkey and the Sword from Jerusalem were big hits). So we all parted on good terms. Then I had to ref…

One game the coach kept trying to help me with my calls, he finally relented and behaved himself, in the other game an assistant coach I have been on good terms with for years lost his mind when his son was fouled (I had called the foul already, mind you) and I had to give him a Yellow Card to get him to settle down. Now I have to do a &*(T^&%^&^ incident report.

All this is 70-85F heat…so I’m a bit tired. Mowage is planned for tomorrow, like swampy I don’t need to have the best yard, just not the worst and the grass is a bit shaggy.

The U10’s left me a box of Krispy Kreme chocolate-covered donuts, so that will be my diet for the rest of the day (4 down, 3 to go) along with fluid intake.

Pavo, mentioning those areas that got hit in the St. Louis area did bring back memories, glad you and yours are OK.

Cat Glove, that’s a pretty prestigious place to play mini-golf at.

FCM, hope the strong words work for you. And I have all my bills on direct deposit, wonder what your broadband folks problem is…enjoy the Car Show.

nellie, good luck with being a bridge over troubled waters with SIL, just don’t let yourself be washed away in the current…and I love the description of Bluto, glad you were there to restrain Ms. Dog’s impulses…

Happy 50th Anniversary Hippie and dammitIforgothername…Sunflower (thanks boofae)–and may many more be in store for the both of you.

boo fae, an early happy birthday to Im’ Indoors.

Taters, glad the Jeep checked out fine, but that’s a bit pricey for breaking your fast, IMHO. Never been to Jollibee’s, none close to here and probably won’t be in a rush to try it.

Reading the weather reports, either you’ve got rain or you were expecting rain and didn’t get it (I was in the latter group).

Coppertone, keep taking it easy on the toe.

If you only knew…

cookie, enjoy your reading. Never been a Stephen King fan but know he’s good at it.

JtC, hope the power stabilizes soon…not a lot of fun when it goes on and off like that.

Whew. Think it’s time for a couple more donuts and a Pepsi Zero…fine dining here. Have a good evening all.

Thanks, we went out to eat and got back around 1930. No power so we took advantage of the light to get things done. The power came back on 15 minutes ago and I did the one thing you aren’t supposed to do. I cranked the AC. Today we learned that we can have AC or fans and his computer on the genny, we can’t have both.

GG had a very bad day, there were work crews outside our fence most of the morning and he has learned that he doesn’t like it when people work on our house or yard. Outside the fence still counts and they were very noisy as well. He spent more time pouting than he did napping, he needs his peace and quiet. Isn’t that why we moved him out to the middle of the forest?

I’m always impressed at your volunteer work. Those kids might not remember what your name is and they might give soccer up next year, but you have touched their lives for the better no matter what. Thanks for doing that for the future.

Hehehe!!!

Whatever did the neighbors think?!?

I hope they have a good trip with no delays for road clean-up and repair.

It’s good that he was able to have a treat AND that he enjoyed it! It does sound like a great day, I’m glad you enjoyed.

Full, fun day. In the morning we went to the Scottish Games to see large people in kilts throwing heavy objects. Didn’t get to see much caber toss, which was disappointing, but they did have a display where a bunch of people in chain mail and plate basically beat the shit out of each other, which was new. Usually there’s some sort of sword play display with explanations and precise choreography. This was just a free-for-all. With armor and (dull) swords and axes.

Then home for a shower and quick nap before going to a colleague of my wife’s 40th birthday party, quick was at a darts place.

Then to see another colleague play drums at a block party/crawfish boil.

Now home and very tired.

Tomorrow I sing at the Basilica, which got power back the afternoon. I’ll see first hand some of the damage. Probably won’t take my normal Sunday detour through the park, as I understand it’s a mess.

So it turned out the thing I agreed to do was install a very silly rocket at the middle school’s theater. Took all of half an hour, and my cordless hammer drill to do 5 screws into the cinder blocks.

Aside from that, have been avoiding mowage due to rain. Been raining for a month. Off to bed with me, I gotta open the museum tomorrow.

Stay safe, y’all.
