(Old) Who's thinking about summer plans in the MMP?

Mrs. Nott showed me the big news from the neighborhood HOA. As it is now, the street ends in a stub into a big woods. They’re going to expand that into a cul-de-sac with seven new lots around it. New sewer lines, water lines, gas lines, electric lines, phone, cable, and so on. That’s after they cut down most of the trees. It’s going to be a noisy few years. I don’t suppose they’ll rename Woodland Estates Drive, after cutting down most of the woodland. Life in suburbia.

I’m glad I inspired someonr! I just got a sliver of each side of big toe removed. I went to church with flip flop on. Afraid to try shoe on. Theres still a little pain.
This title made me laugh, people have money to go on vacations? I can’t imagine what thats like.

This is political, but it just occurred to me. It’s also a short film, so it’s Café Society (and yes, I used an ‘é’, even though the forum doesn’t have one). But it’s also mundane/miscellaneous so…

It occurred to me that Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery reminds me of MAGA.

That absolutely sucks for both of you.

TLTE: I picked up some Saint Louis-seasoned beef ribs out of the BIBYIR bin a few weeks ago. I defrosted them, and made them tonight. I also bade corn on the cob, the first ones I’ve seen at the supermarket this season. One of them had some not-so-good kernels. I took that one for myself, and gave The Spousal Unit the larger, nicer ear. Goo got some tribute from me. It was basically lunch, as we were done eating by 14:00. (It’s 14:51 now). Mrs. L.A. won’t eat again tonight, unless it’s honey-sesame cashews or chocolate. I’m wondering if I’ll have dinner.

Bi-weekly trash and recycling are out. Picked up prescriptions. Mentioned my Sister Drama to the pastor today (in reverse order).

We lived in a development called Hickory Glen. This was in Florida - there was no glen for miles and hickory trees just grow in the panhandle. We lived near Jacksonville. My daughter’s school was Ridgeview. Again, no ridge for miles, and the view was of neighborhood houses. Optimistic and wildly inaccurate names.

I ran to CVS to pick up my meds. The pharmacy had closed 20 minutes before I got there. Thought they closed an hour later than they did. Dammit.

We had Chinese delivered for supper. The rest of today is hard-core RDOS.

What a good idea!

We thought so!

Howdy Y’all! I enjoyed pew ploppin’ with OYKW this mornin’. Well, pew aerobics cause it’s sit, stand, kneel throughout the service. We came back to da cave for sammiches, followed by nappage. Then we day drank out at the cee-mint pond. It clouded up and got thundery, but no rain happened. It was to the northwest of us, alas. Shortly I shall join OYKW upon the bed to stare at teevee. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’.

It’s the 45th anniversary of the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens. It reminds me of a song I heard on The Doctor Demento Show back in the '80s.

She’ll be comin’ like Mr. Saint Helens when she comes…

Afternoon all. Did get out and about, Bobby’s Cheeseburgers were not all that good, so will not be paying a return visit. Did go see the Thunderbolts, pretty good movie but a regular popcorn and coke were $18!! Need to sneak my own food in next time. Then since it was (mostly) on the way home, stopped and stocked up on my Brauschweiger supply until my vacation travel starts, so that is something done. Alas, I have no ambition to go out and perform mowage, guess I will have a shaggy lawn until Wednesday or Thursday. Will be staying in for the remainder of the day.

FCM, sorry FCD is hurting, most cruise lines know how to deal with such things, if the passenger is agreeable (big word there…if).

Cookie, concur it is better to sloth than risk injury or further complications. Enjoy contemplating the Memorial Day Ribs.

Oopsie, glad you made it out with your friends, and a nice looking bag there. And good wishes on the toenail removal. Looking forward to seeing your new Lego creations.

Knots, I’m on a cul-de-sac too, but the space the last 2-3 houses would go on is owned by the city and so far (30 years and counting) they haven’t shown an interest in selling it, which suits me fine.

flyboy, I saw that film in English class way back in High School…and haven’t had the slightest desire to see it again…however, if you haven’t seen it, you should watch it–it is that good. (Only other two films I can say that about are Grave of the Fireflies and Schindler’s List}.

And probably should grab a sammich, because if I’m going over my calorie limit then do it whole hog . Catch up with y’all later tonight.

We’re having a weirdly gender-roled evening (my wife is the major bread winner and I do the bulk of the housework). Bought a chainsaw to help with yard cleanup, which I may or may not break out after dinner. Right now grilling some brats and drinking a beer while my wife does laundry.

Later on I plan to do some unintelligible grunting.

Was a fairly quiet day at the museum, only emergency was a display screen went out by the front door. I had to figure out if the power strip went bad, small trouble shooting, turned out someone had turned it off. The exhibition we got in last week has been on the road for a while, and it is showing it. I had 2 dials fall off…poor initial design, but not sure how to fix that right now.

Did not get the lawn mowed, I really got to do it tomorrow, cuz I’m off on a museum field trip on tuesday. With the rain and the warm, the lawn is doing too well. Who the hell decided grass was a good thing? I’d prefer clover, or maybe phlox.

I’d be OK with paving my yard and painting it green.

(Kind of a giant, yard-sized patio…I could go for that!)

Watching the Leafs/Panthers game. Poke loin is in the oven, Wisconsin Old Fashioned is in dogbutler. So ends another day off.

Love it

My complex has a lot of trees, so it’s mostly natural, with a few grassy areas. Cheaper, more drought resistant and cooler.

Don’t forget to breathe from the belly.

I live in a complex called Redwood Hollow. While hollows (aka hollers) are found here, we’re a couple thousand miles away from the nearest redwood tree.

Oh, wow, did I misunderstand. Now I totally do get it!

I enjoy cooking and tend to start thinking about dinner in the morning if I hadn’t planned it the night before. So of course it befuddles me when people don’t look at cooking as something to look forward to instead of a task that must be done a couple of times a day.

Before she was my BFF didn’t like mixing work and personal life so wasn’t planning on inviting any of her co-workers to her 40th birthday. I overheard her talking about it and told her that I was going to crash her party. She kinda scoffed until I told her that I also lived out in BFArizona and knew that all I would have to do would roll my windows down and I could follow the sound.

She caved and sent me an invite. I think she was hoping it would scare me off because the event featured four rage-rock bands (Her husband was the lead singer for the Phoenix Hooker Cops when he wasn’t a plumber)

I showed up with an oz of good weed and was instant friends with many of them, including the 20 year old death-metalhead who spent the next couple of weeks talking about me being life to his death.

BFF was feeling very festive and while showing me where the food and bathrooms were, opened her freezer to show me five quarts of Fireball (her favorite tipple) and an ice tray with a couple of sad half-evaporated ice cubes. That was as full as I have ever seen her freezer because she can’t even think about what to have for dinner until she is on her way home and needs to stop at the grocery store.

I love your new bag, I think it will serve you well for many years to come.

You need to start out well rested before killing dustballs, those things are fierce yanno!

Cute pic

I really hope your wife’s balance improves soon. That’s got to be so troubling.

Well, that sucks. Start dealing with the ramps and stairs now, it will take longer and cost more than you hope.

It’s always good to use an unneeded bribe, it helps remind them that doing chores with you is fun!

When our window guys were over, they wanted to put clouded privacy glass in our bathroom windows. I said “No” because I figured that anyone who climbed our fence to look at me in the shower deserved everything they got. The window guy looked rather disturbed at this thought.

He was probably thinking “Damn, that girls got moves!”

VBC used to be so considerate about uneating her breakfast that she would deposit it on her place mat to make it easier for her slaves to clean up before giving her Second Breakfast.

Love the Jays of our Lives, we don’t get that channel here but we do get As The Squirrel Turns.

OMG, not really. I remember that like it was last week, wow.

I’m glad you didn’t get hurt during the mess, I understand that breathing volcanic ash is hard on one’s lungs.

Yeah. We don’t bounce nearly as well as we did when we were thirty.

I’m thinking about that. Nope, I would be even more scared to have a stranger driving me than doing it myself. States are smaller here, driving half way across Kentucky to avoid a scary bridge wasn’t nearly as much of an issue as driving across AZ or TX would have been.

I thought they cut all of the trees down BEFORE building the subdivision. That’s why you never see Elm trees on Elm lane.

It’s your yard. I like clover better as well. Hubs is planning on overseeding our grass with white clover this winter.

So, not much from me today. This morning I cleaned out the fridge and sniff tested all of the condiments. It didn’t get warm, but I’m kinda paranoid so a lot of the leftovers got tossed and the rest were eaten. I wiped the glass shelves and went through the veggie bins but nothing there needed to be tossed.

Now I get to cook and refill! I’ve got a hunk of ham, a rack of baby back ribs and some chicken thighs thawing. I know that chicken enchiladas are in our near future and Hubs likes it when I make crock pot ribs with cornbread. He’ll eat the ham with cornbread for lunch, so meals are sorted for at least a few days.

Hubs took me to the capital this morning and went off to hang out with his cousins. There were a few new faces, but I recognized everyone else there including the three very bored looking undercover cops. They aren’t even bothering to pretend that they are worried about us rioting anymore, they just lean against the walls and play around on their phones.

I’m thinking I’ll want to bring my Handmaid garb with me in September. I’ve been firming up my vacation plans and planning my route around good needlepoint stores and scenic drives. There are only two places that I will be on the interstate, but they are short and then I can get back to sightseeing.

I’m figuring on taking ten days to get to Boise and ten days back. How long I stay will depend on Mom, but I’ve got a week booked at the extended stay place I used last time I was there. It had ceiling fans in the picnic areas and lovely mature landscaping and a kitchen nook you could actually cook in.

I’m planning to save money by cooking in my room so I can spend more on threads. Mom doesn’t have a whole lot of energy nowadays and sister gets threatened when I’m around so makes it hard for Mom to spend time with me. (this isn’t new, what is new is that now I know what will happen)

I’ll probably spend maybe twenty hours total with Mom before getting aggravated and heading home.

I do plan to go to the Peregrine Sanctuary, that is always entertaining. The Boise Museum of Arts is also on my list. Mostly I intend to spend way too much money on needlepoint supplies though so low cost and free options are high on my list.

So, yeah, a boring vacation that I will spend doing what I want to do when I want to do it. I do hope I don’t get too spoiled, I’ll have to go home some day, LOL!

I accidentally called my sister.

‘BIL’ is out of surgery and doing OK. Blood pressure is low. (He usually has high blood pressure.) There seems to be some confusion about the Unclaimed Property. I’ll send Sis the claim form – which she has to have notarised and send back to me – so that I can resubmit everything to the State of California. She seems confused. As I mentioned, I did give her money so that she can have the catalytic converter replaced so that she can get her car registered. I told her that she has resources with the San Diego Dept. of Health and Human Services, and that there’s not much I can do from 1,400 miles away.

I’m starting to wonder if I should somehow gain ownership of her house. If she goes into assisted living, I’m sure they’ll take the house if she owns it. (Of course, if she croaks then I benefit. Hey, just being realistic.)

Check into medicare’s look back rules. Be very careful about transferring assets within five years of someone going into nursing home care.
