OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! Doug And The Slugs!!!!

I have obviously been living under a rock, because until this evening, when I went to the site of one of my favorite animators, mogipbob, I never even knew this group existed!

As a musician, I’m pretty well “up” on music and groups, so how this great group missed my attention, I have no clue.:rolleyes:

Once again, my thanks to Lurkmeister for bringing this guy and talent for putting classic (and current) songs to my attention.

He’s a hit on the blog. Sure is.

Thanks

You’re a little late here. The band broke up in 1992 and Doug Bennett died in 2004.

I know! :frowning:

Sorry I missed 'em, Nemo!:frowning:

Still gonna check 'em out though!

Thanks,

Quasi

I get a Charlie Pride video.

Give it time to load, John:wink:

Doug and the Slugs played a dance in my res in university in 1984.

Every once in a while I hear one of their songs on the radio, but then, I’m on Vancouver Island.

And that’s all I got for D&TS. Oh, I think I have one of their albums in the back bedroom. Champagne and Bologne?

Quasi, in Georgia, didn’t know that the twat that used to annoy me down the pub even existed?

I’m stunned. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d love to go to one last Slugfest…

Stunned?

Dude, I’m warbled!!!

Q

I remember these guys from the early days of videos - this video in particular.

I think it was on Night Tracks. I loved that show when it first came out.

That would be Cognac and Bologna. Still, I think the best title of any of their albums was Music for the Hard of Thinking. Yep, I remember them too.

Looking forward to listening to some more of their stuff on YouTube! Thanks, Face!

I also was a big fan of that show hosted by Wolfman Jack! Never missed a show that The Guess Who (another Canadian group, right?) were on!

Midnight Special, wasn’ it?

OMG! I MISS those days and playing my drums to Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s “Takin Care Of Business”!

“The Live Five” and I had a regular gig at this place right here in Carroll County, out in a pasture, and the rest of the band used to put down their guitars while me and the drums and the audience just kept singin’.

You had to be there, ah reckon!

Thanks, y’all!

Quasi

I used to watch Midnight Special.

Linda Ronstadt was hot.
