I expect it was rather the point, considering the school.
The fast-growing college is part of a constellation of conservative Catholic colleges that tout their adherence to church teachings and practice — part of a larger conservative movement in parts of the U.S. Catholic Church.
The college is located in in Atchison, Kansas, about 60 miles north of Kansas City, and traces its roots to 1858. It has an enrollment of about 2,200.
Its “mission as a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, residential college is the education of men and women within a community of faith and scholarship,” according to its website.
But its also home to more traditional expressions of Catholicism, such as the Latin Mass, all-night prayer vigils and a strict code of conduct.
Also mentioned in the article:
Video of the commencement shows virtually all the graduates and spectators rising to a standing ovation, but student interviews showed a more mixed reaction.
So hyper-conservative religious school picks someone to speak who is hyper conservative on gender and sexual roles. Not to mention a heaping helping of just the worst sort of fact-free BS on political matters, combined with “I say my opinion and it’s God’s Truth™ and you must respect my rights to say it, but if THEY say anything, it’s the most deplorable LIES and how dare you say anything!”
Fucking double standard, entitled bullshit, but, as others have said, I hate him and hope he ends up bankrupt, divorced and alone in the future, but I still respect his right to say it all. And if his religion is correct, I am all but certain he’s fully damned for his many sins of pride, vanity, and the like.
