Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

She always reminded me of Ali G. Doing interviews where you’re not entirely sure if the interviewee is in on the joke.

Ok. The guy is a bit of an asshole - manufactured outrage for his channel or whatever. But I don’t think spreading his content is smart. It just encourages that behavior.

I strongly encourage looking up Philomena Cunk videos on YouTube. They are freaking hilarious.

As I understand it, the interviewees are let in on the joke, but are told to treat the interview seriously. Unlike Ali G and Borat, Cunk and her thickness is the joke, not the subject’s hypocrisy. It’s like the Belgian artist Techtronic’s Pump up the Jam.

Which is why seeing her interviews reminded me of Colbert’s old persona.

A Christian heavy metal band called Demon Hunter is suing Netflix, alleging that their plan for a live KPop Demon Hunters tour infringes on their trademark, and their complaint cites a concertgoer in Albany, NY who bought a ticket to one of their concerts thinking they were going to see HUNTR/X.

Even more intriguing (to me, anyway) was the followup link to a story about a “Satanic doo-wop” group booted off a country music tour after the headliner disocvered they were, well, Satanic.

Not my thing, but not a bad sound.

I’ve seen Twin Temple live twice. They put on a great show.

While pretending to crush a coworker’s head, stupid motherfucker crushes his coworker’s head.

Some things are extra funny w heavy construction equipment. Some things are not.

I’ve seen a vid of two dudes knitting a rope into fabric with each driving a building demolition chomper w a ~15’ length of pipe held in its jaws.

Unrelated, but I grew up watching Kids In The Hall and it took me way longer than it should have to realize that was Mark McKinney as Glenn in Superstore.

Wow! Today I learned. I loved Kids in the Hall when I found them back around 1995. But I never would have made that connection if you hadn’t said it and provided a great preview shot. But once seen, it can’t be unseen. In a good way.

Thank you!

Today I learned that “Cunk” is a person and not the latest euphemism.

With those wacky Brits, you can never be sure.

Philomena Cunk rose to fame on Charlie Brooker’s[1] Weekly Wipe along
with her colleague Barry Shitpeas.
Here they are explaining that orange git..

I saw them on The Daily Show. I liked the song they did, and they have a fabulous presentation.

A California company called GRU Space has announced its intention to open a hotel in 2032 and they’re accepting advance reservations.

One small detail. The hotel will be located on the moon.

Yes, despite the fact that there hasn’t been a manned flight to the moon in over fifty years, this company is actually saying they will be able to operate a motel and fly tourists to the moon and back within six years.

They’re selling advance reservations for a $250,000 deposit.

Bonus shadiness: Nvidia and Y Combinator have invested in GRU Space.

GRU? Isn’t that the Russian Military Intelligence Agency? Nice of them to be so transparent.

Maybe they’re just Minions fans.

How GRUsome.
