So a few billionaires pay an exorbitant amount of money to engage in a high risk stunt being managed by some shoddy businessmen who don’t do the math. What’s the worst that can happen?
Oh right.

And they named their company after the guy who stranded someone on the moon. You know, after Palantir, I’m not surprised.
Hakeem Jeffries had a secret private meeting with Jared Kushner to discuss how he can work with the admin as Speaker, because he’s a gutless centrist for whom “bipartisanship” is an end goal in and of itself and who’s utterly misreading what Democratic voters want from the party right now.

Fuck that. What the fuck. I vote for Democrats, but I’m not one of them. Not like Jeffries is.
Paywalled for me.
Curious how on earth those two could possibly co-mingle.
Odd, it was a free read for me.
Here’s another source;
Gift link to the New York Times article about the meeting between Hakeem Jeffries and Jared Kushner.
Representative Hakeem Jeffries, Democrat of New York and the minority leader, met privately in recent weeks with Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and top outside adviser, and discussed potential areas of common ground, according to five people with knowledge of the meeting.
Thanks, folks.
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Maybe Jeffries is just laying the groundwork for that inevitable day when Trump’s advisors, “friends”, and even his family throw Trump under the bus. “Trump? Trump? I may have had dinner with him once, but we barely spoke.”
I’m not particularly aghast over who Jeffries may have met or spoken with. If he starts voting with Trump or Republicans, that’s when it becomes a concern.
Or maybe he’s an establishment stooge bought and paid for by AIPAC and the techbros, like his counterpart in the Senate.
I’d be willing to cut him a modicum of slack — hard as it may be to imagine, there are probably some issues on which the Dems can see eye to (shifty) eye with the malAdministration — if not for the fact that the meetings were a) secret, and b) with Jared Kushner
. As it is, I have a feeling he’s written his political obituary, at least as far as being a power player is concerned.
I think that Jeffries’ meeting with nobody-in-government Kushner shows, at best, that Jeffries thinks this whole shitshow is only a game. At worst, potential collaboration.
I want a detailed accounting of this meeting. FFS Democrats.
Georgia police ask for the publicist help tracking down a man who was caught on surveillance camera (checks notes) finding $30 on the floor at Walmart and not turning it in to lost & found.
Believe it or not, even here in Washington State you can be charged if you find money and don’t try to report it.
The very end of the article is relevant:
According to state law, anyone who doesn’t report the lost property they found will “forfeit all right to the property” and “be liable for the full value of the property to its owner."
That means there’s a chance the original owner reports the missing cash and police are able to figure out that you found it. In that case, you’d have to return the original amount you found.
You’d also have to worry about the state’s definition of theft, which includes “[appropriating] lost or misdelivered property or services of another.”
Most cases where the property is valued at less than $750 are considered third-degree theft, which is a misdemeanor in Washington.
I’m assuming the surveillance team also traced back to when it was dropped to maybe locate those folks.
A couple months ago my g/f and I were leaving a food court and lo and behold came across a trail of twenties and tens, starting from about thirty feet before the exit, and then we followed it for another 30 or 40 feet, outside, well into the parking lot. Enough people around to make us wonder why we were the only ones picking it up (TIL about being charged for it, btw), all the while, both of us yelling “HEY! Who’s goddamned money is this?!? HEY!!!” Eventually we’re somewhat dazedly walking around with ridiculous amounts of bills wildly scrunched up in our hands, approaching anyone we saw, and all of them saying “nope”. Back in my truck I counted out $260 and Sylvia had 70.
While we were eating, I had covertly pointed out to her this total fucking idiot from an old job at a neaby table. He left a couple minutes before we did, out the same exit, and so I soooooo hope the dorkstick had turned out to be our Mystery Benefactor.
I wonder, would this count as “reporting” it?
Ah, yes, my miscreant youth when we would pick up lose change dropped in parking lots. I hope the statute of limitations has been passed.
A buddy and I (5 years old) were walking along a dry creek bed next to a city street. $10 bill!!! After a slight scuffle, I end up with it. He thought I owed him $5 for some reason.
My precious! /gollum
