Rather than erase the threads started by banned trolls, I wish they’d put them in a new locked forum “Island of Misfit Trolls” so we can see what was said and the replies but not make any new replies.
That would incentivize trolls to start threads just to see how many they could get exiled. I can see where the mods would not want to do that, but it would be kinda fun to view.
Make access a perk of paid membership. Like getting a season pass to the zoo.

So, now we give the board and the trollers a perverse incentive. Board: to make more money, they’ll tolerate trolls. Trolling galore. Trolls: bulletproof trolling, with an entire board of captive audience.
And also, the only thing that would make this work would be the already-overworked moderators. Like having an unpaid and understaffed animal-control department responsible for rounding up every rabid rabbit and ill-mannered grizzly bear that gets baited into town by FREE FOOD! and rousting them off to the zoo. Sounds like a lot of fun.
