It’s a challenge to rate his stupidity in comparison to the venerable village idiot Urbanredneck, whose lunatic rantings are by now the stuff of legend. Over here he pontificates on the subject of college tuition. I have not had the privilege of being treated to his wisdom in earlier posts in that thread, and I think I’ll keep it that way. But I just happened to see that latest one. The idea being advanced here is that studying the humanities in university is a waste of time and money, because that’s what movies and museums are for. Watch a movie on Friday, go to a museum on Saturday, and your edumacation in the humanities is complete.
What universities need to do – I think I remember this from earlier Urbanredneck pontifications – is impart real knowledge, like welding and plumbing. This is the purpose of higher education. I’m pretty sure that it was Urbanredneck who once formulated the brilliant philosophical conundrum that still has our deepest thinkers completely stymied, namely, what would the president of Harvard do if, say, he took a really big dump and his toilet got blocked? Clearly the man is useless, and doesn’t hold a candle to the societal value of the Roto-Rooter guy.
It was bound to happen eventually. The pressure of having to come up with a post hoc rationalisation every time a black person was killed by the police or died in custody must have gotten to him.
Hey, I obviously searched Google for some ridiculous reasons and came up with this stupid website. I’m going to waste my time signing up just to complain about signing up and make a confusing post to a 20 yr old post.
He’s a nasty piece of work. My immediate thought is “sock”. Who was the person who eventually got tossed off the board over British politics a few years ago?
