Do you enjoy it, or not so much?
There have been times when my SO and I both have woken each other up because we were horny, more or less. Despite being male and the initiator of sex in most instances, I’m actually not completely fond of this practice (on the receiving end) because I generally don’t like being woken up unless there’s something I need to be doing. But in whatever case I’ll always oblige since hey, sex is sex, even groggy, half-hearted sex. But it’s mostly for her. One notable exception was when I had a nightmare a ghost (a la The Ring) was reaching down into my pants to which I reacted with a punch to the face in the dream, but thankfully not in real life. But anyway, in the few times I’ve essentially molested her into waking up, she says she doesn’t mind and actually enjoys it, which kinda surprises me.
I’m curious to know which one of us is in the minority and hopefully you guys can help me out.
So this is sort of a poll, so please state your gender and sexual preference before answering. Thanks to those who reply!
Gender: Male
Preference: My wife
Answer: Duh
Depends.
Sometimes it’s exciting and great fun for all.
Sometimes it’s an evil plot.
For example, I dated a man for a while who woke me up every freaking morning at 4am wanting sex. This is because that was when he felt like some sexx0rs. He’d work until midnight, hit the bar, come home, play computer games for a couple of hours and then decide to wake me up to have sex.
At the time, I was working two jobs and going to school full time - I had to be up at 7am and wasn’t getting to bed anytime before 1:30 - 2am. And, if I’m woken up during the night for any longer than it takes to pee and get back into bed, I’m not going back to sleep for several hours. For those keeping track of the timeline, that meant he’d be home while I was awake, and then wait to wake me up later when I was trying to sleep.
His habit of waking me up for sex was actually, literally, torture. It meant I was trying to get by on less than two hours of sleep out of a possible five because he was too selfish to skip a night at the bar.
'Course, he was an asshole
So it depends!
Granted, because I have a bastard of a time falling back to sleep and don’t function well on interrupted sleep patterns, I like being woken up for sex less than some people (at least in the middle of the freaking night). Also, I’m not a morning person - at all. My husband doesn’t generally wake me for sex - he’s aware of the fact that I’m not a morning person (and on weekends, I’m quite often awake before him) and he usually sleeps like the dead himself.
Edit: Sorry! Forgot to add my gender and preference. Straight, female.
Gender: Female
I lurve being woken up for sex. Hubby has figured this out and knows that if I am not “in the mood” before I go to bed, if he waits til I hit REM and then wake me up with all the <TMI> stuff…well, he will get laid
I don’t know why, but I have always loved groggy sex. I am actually a pretty light sleeper, so I am accustomed to waking up a lot, and have been known to answer the phone from a dead sleep and sound as if I were wide awake while saying “no, actually, now is not a good time, I am asleep.” My friends think it’s hilarious. I wake up, am fully awake as long as I need to be (for sex, phone, whatever) then right back to REM I go.
I don’t so much like initiating, but that’s just a female/sub kind of thing – hubby loves being woken up for sex, though. Sometimes, since he works nights and sleeps days, I do oblige him as I might be horny when I get home from work, and he needs to wake up anyway
I’m female and bisexual, but I do not sleep in the same bed with anyone else ever, so this hasn’t come up in practice. I don’t think I would like it. I hate being woken up unless I need to be awake for some reason. Then again, I might think it’s the greatest thing ever if it did happen one day (that’s happened with other sexual stuff before, after all), but I’m never going to find out.
What Hal said.
ETA: I mean, what he said, but with my wife, not his. I mean, I’m sure she’s nice and all, but I’ve never even met her, and… :smack:
Female, straight, and absolutely not. I think I’ve woken up Ivylad once or twice, and he’s ready and willing, but if he tries to put the moves on me while I’m sleeping I will push him away. I’m sleeping here!
I’m female, straight.
The husband has woken me a couple of times for sex, with mixed results. Sometimes I’m not awake enough to make it interesting for him. Sometimes I’m annoyed. Sometimes it’s great fun.
I’ve woken him for sex on occasion. Generally, it doesn’t work out, as his brain hasn’t had time to catch up with the fun. Usually ends up disappointing for both of us.
What works best is when we wake up naturally after a good night’s sleep, with no particular morning appointments, and just loaf around on the bed for an hour or so talking.
Damn you, now I miss him
Female. Straight. Wake me up and I’ll smack you.
Female, hetero.
Do not. Wake me. I’m serious.
Straight male. Ohhhhh yes.
Ummmm. . .OK.
When you start smacking me, can you do it while wearing this? Puh-leeeze???
Male. Straight. Like it.
Female. Straight. Go ahead. If I’m not interested I’ll just stay asleep, thank you.
Male, straight. As a morning wood guy, you probably wouldn’t even have to wake me.
Hetero female. I like it, as long as he wakes me up slowly and is not too far ahead of me.
Female. Straight (married). Don’t even* think* about it.
Female, straight. I don’t mind at all, as long as I’m not woken abruptly by, say, a jab in the back. Ask nicely, please.
Male, hetero. Don’t fuck with my sleep unless the house is on fire.
Female, straight. Wake me up before 7am and you die.
