Afternoon all. Shopping/Sammich/Swmming/Sauna are all completed, weight is steady at 270.2 lbs (been that way for several weeks, swear that scale at the gym is broken…). Have a pain in my lower back, but only if I’m crouched over, like sitting on the terlet or getting out of bed–when I try to stand up it’s like someone is stabbing me in the back in my right kidney. But once I straighten up it goes away and the pain is non-existent when I’m sitting or walking or standing; only when I bend a certain way…weird.
Apparently lost my laptop, I took it with me to the gym Saturday and apparently forgot it, the school is checking for it but wouldn’t let me go to the gym to check–apparently they are super-cautious about strangers going into the building, which is smart on them but a bit annoying. Warming up the tablet my brother got me several years ago (never used it because I had a laptop…) and we’ll see how it does (if it still works…).
nellie, interesting story, and cats can go anywhere, can’t they?
BBBoo, don’t have a tree to put up, much less take down, so I’m out–but I like your style, lady…
Flyboy, that is marvelous. My elder nephew has cats, I wonder…
Heard back from my doc. I must isolate for 5 days then mask for 5 days. So on Sat I’ll test again. Meanwhile, I stay hydrated and be aware of respiratory issues.
Just finished de-ashing the pellet stove. I should gave done it last week, but at least it’s done. FCD will take his mom to Food Lion on the way home. Hope he gets here before 8. Poor guy…
Daughter’s family seems to be ok. With luck, SIL can go back to work tomorrow.
Today I enjoyed the sight of snow on our eastern mountains, which only happens once or twice during each winter. It melts off pretty quickly.
I had Trader Joe’s frozen Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) for lunch, which in my opinion is one of the finest frozen dishes out there. The whole kitchen at work smelled like a dim sum restaurant when I heated them up.
Howdy Y’all! Twuck got it’s service this mornin’ and then chillage ensued along with nappage and day drinkin’. The beef stroganoff(ish) turned out great. There are leftovers for tomorrow even. The new matress and box springs will be delivered between 12:45 and 2:45 tomorrow afternoon. How do they come up with such a delivery time frame? Anywho tomorrow night we shall sleep on our brand new mattress. The thrill of it all!
GodBod yay for the new threads!
BooFae yay for last day on campus this year!
Quietly get 'em tested, graded and then get outta there! When I was nine years old I had the chicken pox over Christmas vacation. My rotten little brother and sister (twins) gave 'em to me. Of course, they were over it before vacation. I have no idea why that popped into my haid or why, even, I felt the need to share, but there it is.
shoe I’d go with a new tree, but then I am highly slothful.
FlyBoy enjoy your pukin’ kitty creamer. I think a dog peein’ creamer would also be fun.
Boodoggio is light years ahead in the who can leave their tree up longest contest. His has been up since the middle of Queen Victoria’s reign or some such.
Nellie the cat story made me giggle.
MetalMouse hope the skool can find your laptop.
MOOOOOOM glad daughter’s family seems to be OK. Also hope you are over the plague soonest.
red do you wear a trenchcoat when you flash at irk?
Sorry you’re plague -ridden Mom. People who have been vaccinated usually have a much milder case so I’m sure you’ll be right as rain in no time.
I dug out my old Kindle Fire yesterday and have been playing with it (sorta). It’d go much better if I could get a decent web browser for it. Anybody know of one?
I’m reminded of why I quit messing with it in the first place. It burns through a battery change really quickly.
Our tree is still sitting on the hearth with nothing on it but the (white) lights that came on it and the tree-topper angel. As long as Wifey doesn’t care, I don’t.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Had an Old Fashioned for (Southwestern)burger night. 2 weeks of peak left then making fistfuls of dollars (temporarily) ends.
Literally pin(e)in’ for the fjords.
[Ric Flair]TO BE THE MAN, YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN![/Ric Flair]
I think I win.
That cat has read the Scottish Play one too many times.

Too late for yours, but keeping things pluggged in longer than needed to charge things to 100% can heat and reduce battery life. Plus any apps that run the CPU wide open turn a lot of charge into heat. < squints at Zoom >
It’s a good thing I don’t feel too irresistibly pulled by jelly beans as I live about 15 minutes from the Jelly Belly factory, and the food bank warehouse I volunteer at is just down the road so it would be very easy for me to pop in and buy Flops by the case. Actually did that a few years ago, and gave two pound bags of the things to people for Christmas.
Been a weird week…
Someone got shot and killed in front of a local cafe that we frequent often enough that they bring us iced tea before we ask when we go there for lunch. At 5:45 AM while opening the restaurant, a would-be robber attacked, but a daily regular customer intervened. Robber shot and killed him.
OK that’s bad enough, but there’s a personal connection - the server who was attacked is the one that brings us tea before we need to ask, and the victim was the father of a guy we know. Server is unharmed, robber got nothing but arrested, but our friend’s dad is dead for trying to stop a crime.
And then a couple blocks away, the owner of our favorite Chinese place got robbed. The restaurant was robbed a few weeks ago, but this time, the robbers ransacked the owner’s house. The crooks dumped out every bottle and jar in the kitchen, apparently looking for money or jewelry, then, finding only spices and sauces, they tore the insulation out of the attic. Apparently robbing restaurant owners is a thing - the robbers are confident the owner will be away from home for many hours so they leisurely rummage through everything.
Ha! He couldn’t understand MacBeth if it were performed in fluent Cat with hand puppets. If he and GG put their furry little heads together, they could still get outsmarted by a bowl of yeast.
Aren’t you supposed to be resting? I’m tellin’ Moooom. Oh, wait…
Working out makes me itchy. I think all my mast cells fly the Jolly Roger.
After farting around with my thermometer, I finally got it set to °F and depending on where I shoot on my head, it’s either 98° or 102°. I’m more inclined to believe the higher number, considering how I feel.
FCD still isn’t home, poor guy. Not sure how much longer he’ll be, but I don’t want to go to bed till he gets here. Plus I need to drink some water. Just popped a couple of tylenol, too.
It was a cold 40 degrees at the park this morning, damp and windy.
It was a peaceful morning though and the dogs had a nice time.
I didn’t stay long not only because of the cold, but because I had a PT visit this morning.
I got there just on time, not because I didn’t allow enough time, but because there was no parking.
I got there 15 minutes early, it took me 10 minutes to find a spot, and 5 minutes to walk to the office.
Morty, I can assure you; I have never peed on an electric fence. I’ve heard the stories though.
I didn’t get much done today. A friend called today. I’ve been worried about her because I haven’t been able to reach her. We talked for 5 hours. Lots of catching up to do. She’s been out of town, which is why I couldn’t get her on her house phone. Her cell phone wouldn’t charge, so I couldn’t reach her there.
Evening all. I usually go out and get a cheeseburger and fries on Moanday, but my wallet only had $6 in it and I hate using a credit card for a fast-food meal, so I had Mac-n-Cheese (my usual 2sDay evening meal) tonight and will get cash and a Whataburger tomorrow.
gotti, not a good week in your neck of the woods. At least they got the shooter, hope they can track down the robbers, too.
swampy, enjoy the new mattress and springs and don’t wear them out too fast (wink, wink, nudge nudge…)
OK, finish my internettin’ and watch some tackleball. Everyone take care (FCM especially).
Uh oh. There may be a third cat trying to stake a claim. Small black shorthair, very skittish, has made several visits to my patio tonight. Buddy does not approve. He apparently thought it was just fine for him to move right in, but another cat visiting is Not Allowed. Allie doesn’t seem to be reacting much at this point. Buddy’s making about the same sort of comments on the subject Allie tends to make about him.
And it gets more worrisome. Turns out my little visitor, who is definitely not yet an adult, has a kitten. The kitten is in a carrier in my living room (elusive little brat ), Mama’s exploring a bit. No, I cannot adopt them. Trying to figure out transportation to get them to a shelter once it’s open, since DH has to be at irk before shelters are open, and it would not work for me to take him there and hang on to the car. He needs it to stay on site. I don’t think Lyft would be OK with transporting pets and while I could transport them by bus in the carrier, I think that would be excessively stressful for them. Mama was ravenously hungry (she’s eaten an entire can of wet food already) and it is literally freezing out tonight.
It’s a little cool out there, right now. 31F, currently, and getting up to 46F, later. Not bad for mid December. It’s supposed to get officially ‘cold’ next week. Down to the single digits, or thereabouts. Whatever. It’s Winter in Indiana. We’ll deal.
Every Christmas, I give out goody bags to friends. This year, I’m cutting back on the baking. They’ll get a loaf of Zucchini-Nut Bread, M&M Cake Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Soft Gingersnaps, Peanut Brittle, Chex Mix, and some Cheese Dip/Spread. I think that’s enough. But, it’s several kinds of cookies less than I usually make. Oh, well. I’m just not feelin’ it.
Anyway, all that should keep me out of trouble, and keep me busy for awhile. I’ll get all the ingredients on Thursday, when I do my grocery shopping, and I’ll get everything made the week of the 19th. Won’t take long. A couple of days.
Hubs will be getting home on Christmas Eve, and he’ll be on vacation for 12 days. He’ll be home on our anniversary, for the first time in at least a decade. That’ll be nice. We’ll be married 38 years, on December 30th. It’s been an experience, that’s for sure.
I need to get a coffee refill, and get the day underway. Take care!
