On this day in the MMP

Speaking of cats, Teaser is a 14-year-old tuxedo gentleman who recently lost his human. Someone posted a pic and his first-person kitty appeal on Nextdoor. I hope he finds a loving home for what remains of his life. (He says he should be an only pet.)

I need to make a correction - There’s been enough mayhem around here that I mixed up events.

The guy who killed our friend’s dad at the restaurant is still at large.

My dad managed to get his mitts on a copy of my birth certificate, and sent me that & a notarized translation. (I wasn’t born 'round here.) Off to the DMV or whatever they call themselves in a few minutes, to hopefully, finally, get a valid driver’s license.

This has been a huuuuuuge source of stress in my life lately, and I really, REALLY wanna get this done and over with.
Fingers crossed they accept my paperwork.

Here’s a picture/post of the cat.

Someone asked someone, ‘Could this be a new kitty for you?’ The person responed, ‘Thanks for the referral,’ and said he’d contact the OP.

Fingers crossed for Teaser; a cat I’ve never met.

Total bust, and I KNEW it would be so. I need proof of citizenship to get a D.L., and a birth certificate in a foreign language is pretty much the exact opposite of that.

Now I gotta call my dad, explain all this to him (again) and then probably have the exact same conversation with my mother, which is just exactly how I love spending my afternoons.

At least I got my Secret Santa package mailed off on my way home.

ETA: oh, just kill me now.

I’m sorry to hear that, shoe.
:people_hugging:

shoe that sucks but there’s got to be a way…
Ace that sounds like a great goodie basket. Wish we were neighbors.
FCM Yay for no fever and I hope you are through the worst of it.
Swampy yay on new bed. My new bed in a box is in the garage.

Here’s a funny. My former colleague and good friend from the Keys sent me a wreath made of succulents. I misted them twice while waiting on the hanger to arrive. When I hung it I discovered they are not real. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

When I got up very late I discovered the kids had cleaned and mopped the floors. Yay for clean floors except for my rooms. Instead of cleaning it I sit her watching Cleveland Brown.

There are thick poke chops thawed so I guess that’s the evening meal.

Nettie hopefully you can find a cat rescue that will take them. I’ve never heard of the shelters turning animals away.

Flyboy too bad he needed to be an only cat. You liked him.

I have a cat, Scooter, who’s 12. She is fixed of course but she is a man’s cat. She was hubs Baby. I am pretty much stuck with her as she shows me no affection and is aggressive except at the every two hours she wants to feed. I could never abandon a pet and even have my male dog fixed. The dog Buddy is a little mean too. He is an alpha for sure.

Taters glad daughter is OK and hope she doesn’t have anything crop up.

Sari I don’t think I could talk to anyone for five hours but glad y’all got caught up.

Red you still walking the neighbor dog? Your meals always throw a craving on me. That stuffed squash meal and those beans and greens sounds so good!

We have showers in the area and I am praying one parks over my house for a day or two. It won’t happen.

ETA shoe maybe INS can help. Or maybe that’s not a good idea…

My name is Cleveland Brown, and I am proud to be
Right back in my hometown with my new family

Plague update:

Roxstar is still neg.
Daughter is getting her sense of taste and smell back.
I’m not coughing nearly as much and my nose is less drippy.
FCD took a long nap - he seems to be ok.

So that’s the excitement hereabouts.

We have at least three people, who were at the Christmas party, who’ve come down with the plague. One person there left before dinner. Turns out she has flu, and not the plague. I didn’t touch any of the infected people at the party.

Another COVID-infected person came into the office today, after having tested negative. He was wearing a mask, but I made sure I kept well away from him on my way out to pick up my lunch.

I like him because he’s a cat. But really, I feel sorry for him. He’s elderly, and probably lived with his human most of his life; and then the human wasn’t there anymore. He must be sad and confused. :frowning:

… and I was all set to tell you how to propagate babies and get started on a brand-new hobby!

(Succulents are FUN.)

So, my dad’s got a copy (my dumb ass lost the orig) of my naturalization certificate. He is mailing that over.

Ye gods in which I do not believe, please, please let them accept a copy.

(It’s over $550 and an enormous pile of paperwork to request a new original.)

My ratties are dwindling, so I bought a frozen rat for Pretzel today, like some peasant. She hasn’t eaten a rat-rat (as opposed to an African soft-furred, which is what I raise) in years and I haz a skeptical that she will accept it.
Totally different species, different smell, not to mention the flavor (which, no, I have not sampled). I may drag it (the thawed body) through my soft-furred bedding first, to upgrade the scent.

But meanwhile, I gotta give my Friend-With-Six-Cats a ride home from work in a bit. (Pretzel will just have to wait. Her still-half-frozen rat is thawing in the fridge right now; she can wait till tomorrow.) 'S’okay, since Friend is doing my still non-valid-ID-having ass a favor & hitting a dispo for me. I had a :smiling_imp: of cash saved up, and this will close out my last Xmas shopping.

Bringing my cross-stitch and bathing suit; gonna marinade in her hot tub later, and maybe finally finish this project while being fawned over by her 'meezers and tabbies.

the 2nd kitty looks like our recently departed raven … just that look of " I do what and when I want " shed be a lovable handful once domesticated

They’re both obviously not feral. The older one is quite affectionate with humans.

If anyone heard screams and cursing, it was probably me. None of the shelters are taking cats, and one idiot “animal services” person kept blattering away about TNR for ferals after being told repeatedly they are NOT feral. Rescues apparently don’t bother answering their phones. Still waiting to hear back from SPCA.

@Sunny_Daze, you’re not an outrageous distance from me. Anything useful in your area? I’ll go to Enterprise and rent a car if I have to drive out of town to get these two taken care of.

Afternoon all. Did my stationary pedaling and then got two nice surprises, my last Christmas gifts arrived by Brown and the school called to tell me they had found my computer, so that is back in my house. So all is well in Casa Rat.

shoe, hope the paperwork is accepted, but the DMV universally is a bunch of anal-retentive p****s (IMHO), so you may need the original. If you do, let us know.

lucky, good news at the dermatologist, and nice move on the mole.

{{BBBoo}}, just glad you are still with us here at the MMP.

swampy, so did the pest guy check the mattress for bedbugs???

Nothing much on the agenda now, Whataburger will provide the evening meal in awhile. All y’all take care.

No apparently fever today and I’ve been drinking a lot of water. I want to sleep - I foresee a Nyquil night.

FCD will make me an omelet for supper. He’s not much of a cook, but he does a good job with omelets. When I try, they end up as scrambled eggs with stuff in them. I should probably watch a you-tube video to learn how. Later. Not now. I have zero motivation.

Actually, that’s a Japanese omelet you’re making FCM

i learned this by playing a Japanese farming video game series… they have a thing where you can cook in your kitchen and all the omelets looked like scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese and when I inquired as to why I was told that’s whats considered an omelet in japan … and that was backed up by someone who went to college in japan

here’s the game description if anyone plays video games here besides me lol its a some what “chill” game

Speaking of succulents and funny…
Remember nearly two years ago when I was in hospital to have my colon turned into a semicolon? While still under the effects of anesthesia, I bought some stuff online and was unaware of it until UPS delivered. When I mentioned this on Twitter, a couple people said they’d bought stuff while on Ambien, so shopping while semi-conscious then getting surprised about a week later is a thing.

One friend in Chicago said he once bought a pile of succulents and a terrarium, and like me, didn’t know until it was all delivered. Didn’t think to ask what he did with all of them.

swampy, no raincoat is involved when I flash . Have fun with your new bed.

That’s terrible about the robberies in your neck of the woods gotti.

seanette, IME, most cabs, Uber and Lyft drivers will take small critters who are crated to their destination. I took Nelson in a cab when I had the accident up in Indiana a few years back and he wasn’t even crated.

ace, could you, would you be my neighbor? Your goodie plate sounds awesome.

I hope that your daughter doesn’t have any lasting effects from the accident taters.

Yay for the birth certificate and I hope that the license branch will accept a copy of the naturalization certificate shoe.

butters, Miss Ann just got home from the horsepistol today, so it was the first time for me to walk Charlie and Della. They were good girls who seemed to enjoy going in a different direction. Several of the other neighbors are taking turns helping out with them (we are a dog friendly complex  ).

Flashed again today, but will change gears tomorrow since we got December shipment in today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! The new mattress has been commissioned. I will leave it up to your individual and/or collective minds to decide what that means. Sup got fixed and et. Chillage ensues.

FlyBoy I hope a home is found for Teaser soonest. Hope you don’t get the plague.

gotti hope they catch the guy soonest. I’ve heard of people orderin’ under the influence (OUI) but have never done so.

shoe sorry the birth certificate didn’t work out. Hope the naturalization certificate works.

Butters yay for clean floors. A lady in the 'hood I grew up in “planted” artificial flowers along her walkway. It looked just as horrible as it sounds.

MOOOOOOM glad that it looks like everyone is on the mend. Kudos to FCD for makin’ you an omelet.

red you get major karma points for walkin’ the doggies.

Just a wee bit of snark here… passengers in DFW airport told to shelter in place because tornado. Um, what else would they do? Run out on the tarmac?

End snark.
