One food/meal for the rest of your life - what would you choose?

Another vote for Pizza! Or a sub sandwich, with lots of veggies.

Hubby eats the same meal for supper, 5 out of 7 days a week: Tiny Green Peas, Mashed Potatoes, and Tuna Fish. I suspect he could live on that forever.

Because I know I’d definitely get sick of whatever meal I picked…no matter how good…I’m opting for “people kibble” cause I’d need to resign myself to just eating to live. :frowning:

Steak (pref. NY, medium-rare)
Broccoli (barely steamed)
Baguette with olive oil, garlic, basil and tomato
Cape Cod (pref. with Grey Goose and Trader Joe’s unsweetened cranberry juice)

Dessert is not necessary.

Fried chicken, speckled butterbeans, collard greens, cornbread.

I can truthfully report that I can live on the following for dinner, every day for weeks on end:

  • greens (spinach, collard, chard, pumpkin, whatever)
  • tomato/chili stuff with paneer or tofu
  • brown rice
  • chick peas

I didn’t realize it until my friend eagerly brought her boyfriend over for dinner, and while we were eating the above she informed him that this is what she ate every time she came over.

If I had to pick ONE meal, it would be a bowl of Phở, a bánh mì thịt, and a tall glass of cafe sua da. Quite possibly the perfect meal!

mmm mmm mmmm!

Bahn mi… the Vietnamese subs? And is cafe sua da the Vietnamese coffee I keep hearing about? I live in a city with a large Vietnamese neighborhood full of restaurants and grocery stores, and I never know what to try, or even what a lot of the stuff is. Can you recommend anything? (Sorry if this derails the thread, but I’ve been looking for a Vietnamese food expert forever!)

Thai curry. I do love them so.

–Cliffy

Filet mignon (medium), half a bunch of broccoli steamed with salt, mashed potatoes with butter, cherry pie, and a rum (Sailor Jerry’s) and coke.

I do eat pasta every day (or nearly). I’m fat, but happy.

Katsu curry rice. I’d be morbidly obese and die at 40, but the next 6 years would be awesome.

And if we’re allowed to add a dessert, then after every meal I’d have a Chocodile.

Gumbo.

Since at least 50% of my meals over the past 30 years have been spaghetti, I don’t suppose it would be too much of a stretch to make it cover the other 50%. I guess it would have to be with meat sauce to cover my protein needs, although I more commonly eat it with tomato sauce. And lots of Parmesan. Kraft.

Um, this “one meal for the rest of your life thing” is government subsidized, right?

Assuming so:

Sushi and a small side salad w/ miso salad dressing. Green tea and a glass of ice water. And a multi-vitamin.

And if not, well, I won’t be able to afford to eat anymore after, oh, two weeks or so.

Bacon and beer.

Pizza. Cheese and canadian bacon/ham, or even just straight cheese.

Since I’m pretty much incapable of turning down pizza anytime it’s offered to me, I figure I could probably live on it if I had to.

Hopefully I could switch pizza purveyors for a bit of variety, but if not I’ll take it from my favorite local pizza joint and be happy.

Philly cheesesteaks. I can live on those, indefinitely.

Now I’m hungry…

Bread, cheese and potatoes.

I have an extremely frugal uncle who, before he retired, ate the same meal during every lunch break. For 35 years. He’d even turn down meeting my aunt for lunch.

He ate two hotdogs, and drank a cup of coffee.

He did retire with a lot of money in the bank, though…

Lamb vindaloo (hot please), garlic basil naan, saffron rice
