One last shot of white stuff in the MMP

Good morning, all. It was a breezy 49ºF this morning, so Chloé and I walked. She briefly saw her friend, Roxie, but Roxie had some urgent business to do, so couldn’t stop. Otherwise, it was uneventful.

I was all excited last night at yoga. I had finally achieved the Bird of Paradise pose, but I hurt myself trying on the left side. No yoga this morning, while my back heals. This is what I get for getting cocky last week and thinking I could do a fold.

Saturday, Squeaky has another robotics competition. We’d gotten a little more information. It’s not supposed to be Battlebots, but (in the spirit of teenage boys everywhere), the strategy has become not so much “pick up the most balls,” but rather "keep your opponents from picking up any balls. This competition is about an hour away by highway and begins at 7:30 AM, so Mrs Magill is thinking of driving him, dropping him off, heading out to Cooksville to see Spike, and coming back to take Squeaky home. This plan has two main advantages:
1 - There is no way in hell that boy is going to be awake enough to drive at 6AM.
2 - His Bolt may not have enough charge for a round trip, and he’s never used a public charger.

And a good Hump Day morning, it’s 44F heading to 62F but rain is likely tonight and tomorrow morning, so sounds like Thorsday will be a good one to be inside. Again not much on the to-do list, probably back to the gym to justify all the calories I intend to consume in a couple of hours, and maybe continue organizing my drawers (files, not underwear). Otherwise sloth will occupy my day.

Flyboy, not sure about my shoes, but I’d bet they don’t make it 20 years (then again, looking at the prices, I reckon you should expect long life out of them).

VanGo, I can organize and usually do so…at least once a year, but once things are in a place they tend to stay there in accordance with Newton’s Law…

boo fae, may the meetings actually be a little fun today. Can’t remember having a window seat all my career, it was internal offices or cubes the whole time.

FCM, I can remember when we first…mechanized (hard to even call it a computer at that time) to fill out forms for Army folks moving their stuff. Took us awhile to get the hang of it and had to redo things often. And yes, I remember carbon paper and cranking mimeograph machines to make copies. And I can’t remember without looking it up when my Dad’s birthday was, but I remember the year he was born in..1908, which seems so very long ago…

Maus, congrats on the yoga achievement, I would hurt myself trying that too, along with most everything else on my body. Good luck to Squeaky

And time to explore the wide world of the internet. Have a good one all.

And it never ends. Even at nearly nine years old, I still play *What’s in your mouth? with Nelson when we’re outside.

Has he learned the pup cup look yet? You know, the one that says I’m a cute doggy who likes treats one?

Is Spike at Tennessee Tech?

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Once KP is done, I’ll go ahead and get sheveled. I’m not sure what time Sis will be here, shoot, SHE doesn’t know what time it will be until she gets on the road.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I am so tired of winter. Plus today I get my taxes done. Maybe that’s why I’m in a foul mood.

I used to do this when I worked for my dad - all bills of lading were mimeo. I’d go home with purple fingers. OK, I didn’t have to crank - the machine turned itself - but I had to align the forms and keep count of how many copies were needed. Good times!

In the morning after his breakfast, he gets a denta-stick, which I usually have at my desk since FCD is showering by that point. Otis will come over and put his head on my arm, wielding the puppy-dog eyes.

Successful shopping trip. I was aghast to see that chuck roast was $8 or $9/lb (I blocked it out) but Aldi had corned beef tips for $3.49. Yeah, the flats are a better cut, but not twice the price better. I got two packages which should be plenty. Plus I got the fixin’s and fruit and miscellaneous other stuff. Since we don’t know how the kids will feel about corned beef, I’ll make a batch of mac-n-cheese-n-peas for them. Plus I have fruit, which may well be the entirety of supper for Tobias - that boy LURVES fruit.

Everything is stowed and in a wee bit I’ll have some lunch before sewing. It’s overcast and dreary but at least the temp is rising.

I didn’t mention that I woke around 2-stoopit-30 this morning and couldn’t fall back to sleep. Motivation is severely lacking.

By Grabthar’s hammer, by the suns of Warvan, my Stormy Sea quilt top will be finished today!

Yahweh:“He’s not suffering enough this Lent, make him load 200 Bottom White.”
Sup: “So let it be written, so let it be done.”
Mostly it wasn’t bad, apart from having to stuff a 100lbs. mattress in a box, a 100lbs. bed frame, 2 90lbs chairs, 4 50lbs. tires and a 75lbs. wood crate in the back of the middle car, and 300lbs. of assorted Irregs into the Yonkers route car. On the way home, three separate cars pulled out in front of me, necessitating much braking, honking, and thinking horrible thoughts about the drivers and the next three generations of their progeny. Spot was restored to life by a full bowl of dfry, flavorless bits, and I’ve had a bowl of oatmeal(cranberry, cherry, ginger, and nutmeg).
(Was that enough commas for you, boofae?)

Did you adopt a hyperactive Hobbit?

And there was much rejoicing

Eagerly awaiting photos!

And I await the CIP people’s email.

As long as it had nothing to do with the Department of Health… Score!

Mrs W’s company announced layoffs this morning. She is safe, but sadly, she has lost one of her teammates. He was her right-hand man on one of her biggest accounts. She’s sad for her friend and co-worker, and angry that her own workload is about to increase, and guilty that she’s feeling angry about her workload when she still has a job, and repeat. Rough day.

Meanwhile, it’s now been two months and one day since I last worked. I am ready to get back on the road. Five more days!

And outside of fixing soup-n-sammich, nothing much constructive has been accomplished this morning (and I like it that way). Will be getting dressed and heading out here in a bit, seeing if I remember to take everything I need with me (usually forget something). Clouds around but 56F outside.

That’ll do it. I do mine (Turbo Tax) at the start of March.

Make it so.

doggio, I do hope they allow you a cart and/or at least a hand truck, or you’ll end up with a hernia or looking like the Incredible Hulk…

Wheelie, tough on Mrs. W, I never had the layoff issue (there was a few Reduction In Force (RIF) actions when I worked for the Government, but usually enough people retired to avoid involuntary separation). Best wishes to her.

And time to get moving. Probably play dish tetris and let the dishwasher get to work before I leave.

Chilly this morning. Breakfast was two fried eggs, two breakfast sausages, and a croissant with jam.

Exercised and puzzled. Been sneezing and runny nose all morning, except for when I left the apartment for a half hour. Hmmmm. . .what could be causing that? Oh, right. . .

Dinner delivery from the downstairs kitchen today. Fried fish and lobster bisque, apparently.

Lunch was leftover chicken fingers accompanied by a pathetic Cavapoo who shall remain nameless.

Didn’t I know that she was starving and chicken is her favorite?

I went to an actual workout session at Rock Steady Boxing today, and I made it most of the way through it. It started out with some standing stretches, which I could mostly handle. The turn-your-head-and-do-this parts had me on the edge of losing my balance. I was given a chair to hold onto, but it was to short for me to hold without stooping. They had a rig that’s a pair of straps anchored to the wall with handles on the free end. You grab those and lean back to do a series of squats and step-to-the-side moves. Then there was the inflated dome thingy. You lie back on that, lift up the butt, and do arm stuff. Then you turn over and put your chest on it. That’s what stopped me. Due to some past injuries, I can’t put pressure on the front side of my knees without a lot of pain. I was near to tears, partly from the pain, and partly from the embarrassment and shame I felt from not keeping up or fitting in. I said, “That’s it. I’m going home.” While everyone else continued the workout, I put on my coat and left.

I don’t think I’m done with this program. Maybe I can get some knee pads.

Do you read comic strips at GoComics? Thatababy has changed. Maybe a new artist, but the characters look different.

Two new jigsaw puzzles came from White Mountain; State Trivia and Simple Pleasures. I had already started on doing National Parks a second time.

I just started a book, The House In The Cerulean Sea, which involves the Department In Charge Of Magical Youth.

I still have a mental picture of Beetle Bailey peeling spuds, even though my job at Burger Chef in '67 had me using a big rotating drum thing to peel potatoes.

Okay, time for lunch and more pills.

Awesome! Love the colors and pattern!

When it is, we need pics! Ahhh…I see that it’s complete now. Beautiful!

I hope that she stays safe from layoff and doesn’t get too bogged down with the extra work.

And it’s not even Firday!

Sis and I went to FoodTown today so’s that I could do my own grocery shopping. I’m really not a fan of doing all of my shopping there (not as good produce and limited / expensive dairy), but the place that we usually shop has no electric scooters and is enormous and I’m just not up to that yet.

I don’t know why I agreed to order it. It was barely mediocre and totally disappointing.

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions. I went to Hobby Lobby, which I am loath to do, in search of a cord, but found nuttin’. I had already had that experience at Michael’s. Anyone have any suggestions where I might look? :astonished_face:Wally*World:astonished_face: or :: shudder:: Target perhaps? I am not crafty, so I am lookin’ for ready made. Dare I dream such a thing exists? I could use a chain if needs be, but would rather have a cord. I suppose I could do sad puppy dawg eyes at a crafty friend and offer to buy whatever is needed.. The rest of the day has been spent in high RDOS inactivities. Even sup required minimum effort. Rain is in the forecast tomorrow and Firday. I would not mind that at all.

Wheelie I can understand your wife bein’ bummed about the layoffs. I am glad to know she still has a job.

Hippie tres chic and cool quilt!

Cookie Sadie looks very judgmental in that pic. What did you do!

My wife is going to Bible Study tonight, so I didn’t cook anything for dinner. (She’ll eat there.) So I had the last avocado (why not, she doesn’t eat them), and I’m making a grilled cheese sandwich. Swiss & provolone on low-carb multi-grain bread, with shredded parmesan on the outside. It’s toasting now.

That is amazing! Lovely work and great colors.
