One of the stories of Krishna - a romantic MMP

My mother just emailed me to let me know that they’re going home (They moved last Sept. so going home to where they used to live) for a funeral - ironically for the funeral director’s funeral. Anyway, do you think I should be paranoid/concerned that she and my father are staying with different people? Either place they’re staying should have room for both of them. So why are they not staying at the same place? They’ve been having problems, but they’ve been having problems since I was, oh, about 12. I alternately worry - and have since I was 12 - that they’re going to separate and that they’re not going to. They make each other miserable, but after 40 years that’s all they know how to do. Bah! Parents.

I don’t know what to think about the mystery post card, meeks. That’s just weird.

taxi, mine were that way for the entire time they were married. Couldn’t live with or without each other. As you may remember, my dad passed in January and she misses him terribly. Sometimes you just have to let the Bickersons do their thing.

Meeks, that is just strange about the postcard. I didn’t send it - with 8 cats, a husband and my hockey buddies I am hardly lonely. Crazy, maybe, but not lonely.

And about the RLS - I had tried every non-prescription thing I had heard of, and was lucky enough to get accepted into a study for Mirapex. I take it every night, but I have really bad RLS - I even have it during the day. It’s only annoying at night because I can’t sleep while I’m twitching. The only problem with taking it “as needed” is that it takes a couple of hours to start working; I usually take mine at 9 and try to get to bed between 11 and 12. There are other drugs out there; do talk to your doctor. There is no point in being miserable if something can be done about it.

All this talk of pointy sticks and 10 foot poles, ya’ll should be ashamed. Perverts.

We got a good rain here; hopefully we’ll get some more. We need it.

No clue on the postcard, but it’s nice to be thought of, I suppose.

Do suppose it’s really from the CIA or something like that? Are you shipping human cargo up to upstate NY? You can tell us, Mika-we’ll never tell…
I am not feeling so well today-if I still feel like this on Friday, I’m asking for a CXR (chest Xray) to rule out pneumonia. I cough like a 4 pack a dayer, and feel like I’m 90.

Gorgeous summer day out there-I want so badly to go use my brand new bike, but don’t have the energy for it. wah.

RSL sounds awful. I get those hypnogagic jerks or whatever right before sleep, but my legs stay where they’re supposed to.
Nice kitty, BooFae–name, yet?

mika, no clue about the postcard. Maybe you’ll get a follow up from someone later in the week? Or maybe it will remain one of life’s little mysteries.

I have finally given up on the chair I inherited from the previous person. It made my butt hurt. I switched to the Aeron knock-off, and now my monitor is way too high. It’s on a docking station, so I can’t lower it. Maybe I’ll start using the laptop without the docking station. As long as it’s locked onto something, that should be ok.

what thread? Ack! I just saw this.
Someone actually READS what I post? Is it the one about the moron? She really tripped my trigger–what a jerk plus.

I am glad to know you, too, MBG.

BooFae--sorry, NOW I see the name of the kitty. Is Stanstead a Tube stop or something?

I always think that about Giada De Laurentiis. She’s SOOOOOO skinny and they always show her eating and drinking on Everyday Italian and on her weekend getaways. Either she never eats off camera or she’s throwing it up after the show. Ick!

S’okay. I haven’t thrown up at all today! Aren’t you all proud?

The cocktail sounds delicious. Sob. Six months until I go into labour and can drink.

Mr. Lissar shaved off his beard last night. Right now he looks about five years old to me. Except for being over six feet tall and 180lbs. It’s weird. He’s had facial hair for more than a year.

You know, I should be getting ready for work.

LiLi I’m no expert but I don’t think they let you drink durin’ labor though it sounds like a good idea. :stuck_out_tongue: Oh and Ina Garten eats and drinks everything but never throws it up.

taxi my folks were married for fifty-eight years (until dad’s death) and fought like cats and dogs. So, like Puggy said.

ETA: Yay for the non-puke day LiLi!

So, my sweetie is home, and what is he watching on his new digital TV service? ABC News…

We went to Bad Chinese for supper because he was in the mood and I didn’t feel like cooking. His dessert of choice there is flapioca - flan mixed with tapioca. Yeah, I know… <shudder>

We’re s’posed to get rain overnight or early tomorrow. I sure hope so - it’s awfully dry out there. Some of the corn fields I pass on my commute are kinda thirsty looking. What do you want to bet that the rain will wait till my daughter gets here - when we intend to cruise the bay. Who wants that bet??

A lady at work gave me a bag of clothes that a friend of hers was giving away. Apparently the friend lost a lot of weight and didn’t want to throw them out. I was going to pass these clothes to my sister, but she’s taller than I, and the pants are all women’s petite. So I found a site for a women’s shelter in my county, and I sent them an email asking if they could use the clothes. I hate to toss them into a collection box if I can give them directly to someone who could wear them. So we shall see.

Is it Friday yet?

Good on you for trying to find someplace where folks could use the clothes FCM! Any of my decent lookin’ old shirts, pants and shoes are taken to a local rescue mission. I know that most of those guys are there because they’re alcoholics/drug addicts and kinda got themselves into that situation, but still they need clothes and shoes. Who knows, one of my f-aaaaaa-bu-lous old shirts may inspire one of the guys to turn his life around and become an upstanding pillar of the community!

Breaking news on the television: There’s a big fire in the forests/woods in Mayberry. We probably won’t be hearing from VunderBob for awhile (he probably went straight from work to the fire station, and then out to the woods. I don’t think it’s too close to his house, but I may be wrong about that.

Hope BBBobbio is ok…

After spraying the canopy frame liberally with WD40 it opened like a champ. SIL is going to tell the manufacturers they need to include a can with delivery…

My duck sauce goes very well with egg rolls, I am happy to say.

Be safe BBBobbio!

Snakes looks like we could have rain’ comin’ from both north and south tonight.

Speakin’ of WD40, I have an interestin’ use for the stuff. See, where dad and little bro’ are buried instead of traditional headstones they have bronze plaques. WD40 will spiff those plaques right up! How did we get along before there were such products as WD40 and duct tape.

WD40 is also great for removing bottom paint from body parts. And by bottom paint, I mean the ablative paint one applies to the bottom of one’s boat. Not to one’s bottom.

have I mentioned lately how much I HATE humidity?
eta: oh, so not fair - Joe’s Crab Shack has started advertising on my cable system, and the closest one is in Lawrenceville NJ (which I don’t even have any idea what paart of the state that’s in)

Hello everyone! I’ve missed you all.

That was a very nice OP, Mika. It was very interesting to read all about the Indian meeting/wedding traditions too.

Rigs, I’m sorry to read you’re not doing so well. Hang in there!

FCM. I’m glad your eye is better!

I know there is much, much more to address, but I skimmed just to get to here. I haven’t even got read last week’s MMP yet.

Well, my new office is…interesting. Everyone has been very nice, but I am bored out of my mind right now. Also, I sense some interesting personality dynamics going on. I don’t even want to know about that.

I am excited about learning new things, and I’ve already learned some, but the boss and the boss’ boss are out of town right now. I’m keeping myself busy, but I’m ready to dig in and do some new stuff. I’m all caught up with all the stuff I need to do for my former office, so other than some minor maintenance on one of their databases, I can’t really do much there either.

Speaking of database mgmt/clean-up/appending, querying for matches/mismatches; I may not be doing that too much longer. My new boss, along with her boss, who is the RMO, is not pleased that my skills are being utilized in this way. They strongly feel that my former office has personnel dedicated solely to this enrollment function and they should be doing it.
As the RMO put it, “You’re an analyst, not a clerk!” Hallelujah! Finally!

I am a proud Mama! My son has been nominated to the State Youth Leadership Conference. The teacher that nominated him has only nominated a few kids for this in the last eight years. He got this very nice letter and official looking packet from 1700 Pennsylvania Ave. The only problem is the cost. It costs $1400 and he’d have to register by 30 July. We just don’t have an extra $1400 dollars lying around right now. I’m still looking for ways to get him there, so wish me luck.

I guess I should figure out what’s for chop-chop. I’ll try to better about popping in this week.

Isn’t the ablative a case in Latin? I don’t think it has anything to do with bottoms. But I might be wrong.

Hope Bobbio is safe and the fire is taken care of quickly. Thanks for letting us know, Sean.

Silly rigs! Of course we read your stuff. I even went and looked for what MBG was referring to. And am, of course, also proud to know ya.

Yay for a puke-free day, LiLi. I remember seeing pics of Mr. Lissar pre-facial hair and thinking he looked awfully young, so I can imagine that the change is pretty dramatic.

Read the MMP when I got home from work, dozed, then went off to the local outdoor concert, which - yay! - wasn’t canceled! Did I mention - yay!!! - ?

It rained A LOT today (one more yay!!!) and I was afraid they’d cancel because it was too wet. But, no, this band really wanted to play AND it was apparently dry enough to be safe.

So the crowd was a bit smaller than usual, but enthusiastic and the band was fun. They’re a good 70’s cover band and everyone always sings along and claps. And everyone in the 10 and under set dances and does cartwheels and generally goofs off in the middle of the lawn. It’s one of my favorite summer things…I’m sure I’ve mentioned all of this before. But…it’s fun! A nice thing to do on a weekday evening that doesn’t require a lot of effort to get to.

One thing that bugs me and seems to be new: people smoking on the edge of the crowd. I’m really smoke averse (I always wind up sick after going smoky places) and dislike the smell more than ever. Wish they’d designate a smokers’ corner or something so that we’d at least know where the smokers were going to be. (It really seems to be only 4 or 5 people.)

Now I’m home and just relaxing a bit. Should do something productive, but I think I’m still making up for my lost weekend…

Maybe I’ll just take a nap? Or go to bed early.

Hi to everyone I missed!

GT

WD-40 is also wonderful at removing sticky, gummy residues left from the 1,001 stickers your 4-year-old son sticks all over his unpainted wooden bedroom door in your rented house.

We got digital cable via FIOS a few months ago, and my addiction to several other channels has grown slowly but steadily. BBC America? Has lots of terrific stuff. There’s all kinds of odd channels that make channel-surfing fun. And there’s the music channels, too. When I want to take a nap? I flip it to the New Age music channel and zone out peacefully. Delightful.

Of course, there are also the evenings where we have not the 3 I grew up with, not the 80 I’ve been used to having on analog cable, but 740 channels of nothing to watch!

I hope BBBobbio is okay!

There’s a bunch of nasty weather coming through this evening. So rather than mess around, when it first started arriving we stuffed one of his knockout pills down Rusty’s throat. He was still to nervous to eat supper at 6 pm, but sacked out after that – until he woke up promptly at 9:00, of course, for the evening biscuit ritual. That dog has the BEST stomach clock in the universe. So he just had his biscuit and a belated supper, and I suspect that no matter what else happens this evening, he will be nothing more than a reddish furry lump on the floor. Which is the best way he can possibly be in such weather.

All of FSM’s individual pieces are created, SCL; I just have to fasten him all together and he will be ready to head down Jawja way!

Back to work. Or bed. Or something. I have been sooo tired and spacey all afternoon, for no good reason I can think of; I’m sorely tempted to crawl in bed extra early and turn into a pumpkin. But I also really, really need to get this job transcript done this evening. Duty or sleep? Decisions, decisions…

Aw…I’m somebody!
Reading about bottom paint was odd, until I got to the splanation-thank you.
Off to work tomorrow-hope it’s a good day. 9-5:30, just like a regular schlub.
I like the smell of ciggies outside–it reminds me of a very pleasant chlidhood memoy, of intermission at the summer stock theater company on Cape Cod. The smell of privet hedge, lemon and hard liquor, ciggies, salt air and honeysuckle, all mixed together-that is summer to me.

but not in the house.

hope the weather isn’t too bad. We had all our rain last night-boy, did we need it. It cleared away all the humidity and nastiness. Gorgeous here today.
