You got it. I did go home to put on shorts and t-shirt, and went back to the station before we were paged. We ran tankers and did lots of butt picking.
Off to bed. I’ll tell the tale tomorrow, but it’s not very interesting.

Ya know, I think it’s mostly better when it’s not interesting.
Please DON’T tell about the butt picking. Thanks.
I’m getting a FSM!!!
does little happy dance
I found out why Mr. SCL was complaining about mailing my books for PaperbackSwap - he was using the little kiosk machine and mailing them parcel post instead of media mail! In spite of the fact that the label has “media mail” printed in bright red. It costs twice as much to mail them parcel post! Men!
Oh, dear. THe doctor’s office left me a message to call them about my test results. I will be calm.
But it’s worrying. They don’t usually call if everything’s fine.
Li-Li, I’m keeping you in my thoughts.
Tarra, I meant to tell you that I was thinking of you too. I hope all goes well.
Mr. Taters just called and is on his way home from the lake. He met our neighbor out there and they did some wakeboarding with the neighbor’s new boat. They had a good time. I’ve got some brats and chili going. I should have started the brats sooner, but I got wrapped up in reading the paper. They were frozen, so I’ll have cook them in a little water first, then I’ll throw them on the grill to brown them.
Speaking grilling, we grilled some BEE-YOOTI-FUL ribeyes on Sunday. They were truly yummeriffic! We had some twice baked taters and a nice green salad to go with the steaks.
Only two more work days, then I’m off for three days. I gotta say, I’m loving being on the alternative work schedule again. It’s nice knowing I’ve got every other Friday off. I probably won’t always get to take my RDO, but I’ll get comp time if I don’t get to take them.
I better check my brats.
Home from work, it was hot today. Painfully hot. Inside work(82 in the office). 36 days left. It rained here, and the temp has plummeted to 85. Time for some chicken and broccoli, then bed.
LiLi, I hope it’s good news, I will keep praying.
SXL, soon you will be touching noodly appendages. <snerk>
BBBob, glad things were boring.
rigs, of course you’re somebody, you’re an MMPer!
Sean, Mandy is going to Japan? We better warn Tplay, and the other Dopers in Japan.
meeks, it wasn’t me(one is never lonely with a beagle). Very odd.
Oooh, there’s something I forgot: Mandy’s leaving? How sad. We’ll miss the stories.
Lots of prayers going out for you, LiLi.
Oh, and the postcard. Not from me.

LiLi, I hope everything’s okay. It’s probably routine stuff, but they don’t like to chances with things like that.
Flapioca?! I’m not sure if I’m fascinated or repulsed. Maybe a little bit of both. I like flan and I like tapioca, but I don’t think they’d go together very well. But that’s okay, because I just made a nice nanner puddin’ for tomorrow, so I’m all set with pudding-y stuff.
taxi, I hope your parents are okay. Maybe they just need a little vacation from each other. My grandparents used to go on separate vacations, and they ended up being married about 60 years.
Mork, wow! Thanks for the lesson on music composition language. That was fascinating. I used to be in the band when I was a kid, and we had a guy in the band that was good at the trumpet, so your description brought back some great memories. Is it really easy to catch pre-set arpeggios, or was that guy pretty good at hearing stuff like that? When you listen to other people’s entries, what do you listen for?
**
Taters**, nice to see you here again. It sounds like things are going very well for you.
Lili, fingers are crossed for you.
Nothing to say really, but in my role as Eastermost MMP’er…
Morning everyone!
Li-Li – I’ve heard several cases lately of people in the U.S., who used to have their doctor’s office tell them routine stuff over the phone, freaking out when they get a call to “come in please.” Seems that lately lots of offices have gone to not giving any information over the phone (some kind of new liability worries?). I hope that’s all it is in your case too! But I’ll keep my appropriate appendages crossed just in case.
(Swampy, ya got any interviews today? Make that appendage crossing a two-fer?)
OK, but this time, it’s not even midnight yet. It’s only 11:30 pm here. So you’re on a totally different day. I’m still working on Tuesday here. Don’t rush me!
Hope all is well, LiLi.
The Kindergarten ceremony went well (nobody asked, but I’m telling y’all anyway ). The Princess got her completion certificate, the language arts award, honor roll (3rd time in a row) and, surprisingly, the good citizenship certificate, which half of her classmates got – surprising to me because this is the same kid who got in trouble a month ago for sassing the cafeteria lady as well as her teacher. I think she gets it (the smart mouth) from her dad, ‘cause I was afraid of my teachers for years. Afterward we exchanged numbers with her friends’ parents and collected the last of her school stuff from her classroom. We were all set to go to the Bad Chinese when she said, “Can we go to Chuck E. Cheese instead?” :smack: Fortunately they’re in the same shopping strip. It’s going to be a long summer, I can tell.
… and now? Wednesday yet?
No, it’s an airport - we have a bit of a nickname theme with the cats. It all started when I had Orly and someone asked me if she was named for the French airport (which she wasn’t) but we nicknamed her “Airport Cat”. At the time, 'im indoors and I weren’t living together and he was working away. So when he was home for the weekend, I’d pack my stuff up and drive to the airport to collect him on a Friday, then spend the weekend with him and drop him off at the airport again on Sunday before heading home myself. Of course, I had to take Orly with me, she hated her pet carrier and I used to let her out when we were in the car. She never bothered with the front seats, she wanted to sleep on the back seat or on the parcel shelf where she could be admired by passers-by.
So we had airport cat. Then I moved in with 'im indoors and we adopted Nuke who was nicknamed Luton by the same friend. After he passed away, we were back to one cat until Ophelia came along - same friend just started calling her Heathrow.
Now we have Shadow who is, of course, Gatwick (makes sense if we’ve got Heathrow…) and the new stray is Stanstead for the moment. Until we work out what to do with him!
Up and caffeinating. Off to work. Too hot for pronouns.
For verbs as well, I see - the only one you used was in a nominative form!
There is a meeting in half an hour I have to attend to explain the status of a bunch of tickets that are “on hold” because, gee, it had been established that those particular tickets had to be fixed by A Different Team, but then ADT turns out not to have the resources, so they have to be fixed by Our Team, but of course our resources had been capacited assuming that we wouldn’t have to fix those kinds of tickets (i.e., we don’t have anybody with the training for that particular stuff). In theory this was my boss’ job but he’s on some sort of seminar thing (maybe he’ll become a priest and get off my back?).
If I explain that “well, it’s all on hold because you all never take reality into account when defining processes” they’ll get angry, right?
BooFae, I am not owned by a cat, but know many who are. It’s not “until we work out what to do with him;” it’s “until he works out what to do with us.”
taxi - forgot to send good wishes on the parental situation.
Nava - yeah, they’ll get angry, but it sounds like that’s the only way they might learn…eventually
Had breakfast and am about to have a cup of tea (need additional caffeine) and get ready for work…
Is it Friday yet?

Very true, GT! My plan at the moment is to get some oral flea treatment for him and shove that in some food, then to take as many pics as I can of his obvious injuries/bald patches etc and show them to the vets in case there’s something they can immediately tell is wrong that needs to be treated. After that, I need to think about how to deal with the poor little scrap.
I have a friend who runs a cat shelter who would probably take him in with a view to rehoming him but nobody’s going to want him in his current state! So I need to make friends with him to the point where he can be humanely trapped and seen by a vet but that’s a fair way off because he’s too wary of people yet. After that, I’d like to see him rehomed but probably not with us - we can afford two cats but three is a bit too much of a commitment with insurance, vets fees, vaccinations, cattery fees etc. We’ll have to wait and see!
Og is great but not particularly merciful, YES. I’m off work tomorrow and Friday.
