Dang! Too late to edit my late post. Anywho, BioRosie I found this interestin’ link on how to tell the age of a tree.
Hey, smug pregnant girl… Did you clean anything today??? Huh? I assume that there’s been no news from the doc? Still keeping appendages crossed (currently it’s my feet).
Did I really see Taters back there? And welby? Hi!!!
rosie, you probably need to ask an arborist or a horticulturist how to tell. I imagine it varies by species and variety.
I rented for a long time, probably longer than I should have as far as my finances go. And I’m paying less here than I would be paying in rent for something comparable. I really like knowing that it’s mine. But I agree that it’s something everyone has to decide for themselves. I know a couple of people who will be selling their homes soon and moving to rental because they really don’t want to have to worry about maintenance.
There was more, but: Tired. Really tired. Long day, too much to do, wanna sleep.
GT
Thank you.
The house is about 33 years old - the tree is somewhat younger, I think. It was actually planted elsewhere, right next to the stoop. By the third year I lived here, the branches overhung the steps and I couldn’t get by without pushing branches out of the way. And the peaches dropped ot the walkway and got real messy. So about 5 or 6 years ago, I had it moved to where it is now. But it took 3 years for it to resume bearing fruit.
OMG. ARE YOU ME?
I picked up one of the Kushiel books the other day, before I got the recs from the Cafe Society thread. I accidentally picked up the second book by mistake, but read it anyway, and it turned out to be wonderfully and fairly well written trashy fantasy, just as you said. I may buy the first book, depending. It certainly isn’t the deepest fantasy series I’ve read, but it makes for good beach reading.
I’ve just started the third Flewelling novel, and the story so far has been incredibly engrossing.
Pretty picture, rosie!
Heh. If they starting seeing things that aren’t there outside of their readings, then I’ll start worrying.
Thanks. I thought so myself.
Break time now, between classes. I usually have a cigarette at this opportunity but I’m not really in the mood for one today, for some reason. I just wanna go hooooooooooooome and read my book and watch bad Japanese anime. :: whine ::
mmmmmmmm less than 50% humidity - temps in the low 70s/high 60s - I’ll be sleeping with the window open tonight.
Hey all, am home from work, have a terrible headache. Work was fine–I had the cutest lil Palestinen boy to take care of (had got his tonsils out). And the rest of the day was fine.
Am still sick–my chest feels like there’s a band around it. I have to work tomorrow, but will call the doctor and get a look-see on Friday. I’m thinking walking pneumonia at this point.
Nice pic,** Rosie**–we had that weather yesterday. Very nice.
Sorry, didn’t read the rest of the thread–too tired. Glad to see that Lisslar is no longer upchucking, though.
And this occurs to me: LIVE WHERE YOU’RE HAPPIEST!
See…this is why we read your stuff.
Tired. Off to bed.
GT
[Sally Field] they like me; they really like me![/SF]
Still have headache. Need sleep, so will go get some (duh).
Everyone, enjoy your Thursdays. I know I will–especially the bit about then not having to work until Wednesday, again…heh. I will have to do homework, though. <sigh>
Thanks for the heads up on the temps, FCM – when I read your post, I checked our local weather and it’s supposed to get down to 59° here tonight! Yeehah! So the windows are now open and I’m enjoying a lovely cool breeze. It should be lovely sleeping weather tonight. If I can get this stupid [del]drivel[/del] transcript done in time to get to bed while it’s still cool.
SCL, FSM is done and is currently sitting on the rolltop desk in the living room surveying the world through his googly eyes. I snapped a couple of photos of him in various places around the house, but then my camera batteries died, so I need to change them out before uploading them for you all to enjoy before getting him boxed up and off to you. Dare I say it myself, he is just GORGEOUS. Hilarious, but GORGEOUS!
Okay, back to work.
Hey, I’m here.
I skimmed, that’s it because you all write too much and I’m tired.
swampbeer there’s nothing generally wrong with Miller products, not my taste, but I’ll imbibe, if so offered.
Besides, it’s not Bud. Y’know those horses? I hear they’re not only a marketing tool, I hear they actually PRODUCE the beer.
My body’s starting to ache and I’m not feeling so good. Someone in my Toastmaster’s just told me that she had strep last week. Ugh! I’m hoping it’s not that.
Mork, congratulations on the raise!! That’s good stuff!
swampy, good luck with the prelims on the job. I’d cross appendages but I’m too achy. But you’re in my thoughts.
Jahdra, there are some places around here that think that lettuce on a plate is a vegetarian dish.
H&R – do not read any further for the next 90 minute! You have been warned! Oh, and I hope you feel better, fast!
(OK, [s]he[?]'s gone now? Everybody else – GOOD MORNING!)
Best wishes, crossed appendages etc. for all who need them… Li-Li – enjoy enjoying your clothes not fitting!
I’m sure it’s cute and adorable.
And… somebody’s got to do it, so it may as well be me… cite? (**Swampy, Bob **-- get that hose ready. I think we’ll need it)
I’m shortly off to the Army… well, Air Force actually. Just half a day though. I’ll (maybe) have some interesting stories to tell around when all you lazy 'Murkins start getting your asses in gear for the day
After a big introduction like that, how could I resist?
I’m a she and thanks for the well wishes.
GOOD NIGHT!
See you in the AM!
Good morning everyone! I’m at work and thinking of caffeine right about now.
Are we still crossing appropriate and inappropriate appendages? I think I’m tying myself in knots here!
Yay for the FSM knitting! I bought 'im indoors an FSM book and t-shirt for his buffday, he was chuffed to rockets with it. Of course, it does start lengthy discussions about whether the FSM is better than the invisible pink unicorn, but at least it keeps him out of trouble.
He phoned me yesterday to say that he’d had stern words with his team leader because she’d been somewhat critical about some work he’d been doing for the last couple of days, and she had been questioning his billed hours and stuff. He put her right, she apologised and he packed up and left. So now he’s officially a feckless, dole-scrounging layabout. Well, at least until the beginning of July when he starts a 5-month contract at the place in Birmingham he left to go and work in Wigan at the contract he’s just left. Are you all keeping up with this?
Last night we went to the pub with a crowd of friends, good fun was had and only two fights occurred (neither of which was our fault, I hasten to add). I was really tired from the butty pull the night before so I decided to take the car with the intention of leaving early. Typically, because I couldn’t have any beerverages, they had Roaring Meg as one of the guest beers. Still, I have nothing planned for tonight so I may just pop in for one on the way home.
I’m awake, sort of. I dreamed I was in Germany, visiting Faraway Best Friend, who lived in a completely different town. We were outside town, near a large store (who’s name I couldn’t remember). I was very insistent that I needed to go buy milk (and some other item that I don’t remember) and went off to the store.
I woke up and walked into the kitchen and remembered: I really need to buy milk… Them’s some exciting dreams I have, I know.
Off to get ready for work.
GT
I had a weird dream. All I remember is nausea, and Nerf dart guns. :dubious: Oh well, off to work.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Or afternoon or evenin’ if you’re BooFae and Special1. I am at da cave and caffienatin’. I left ol’ y’all know whose (who’s?) place at six and came home cause he was about to leave for work and, well, I coulda gotten purtified and dressed there but for the fact that the only footwear I had there (we wear really different sized shoes, he’s bigfoot’s first cousin ) were the sneaks I wore over there so here I am.
I guess there’s no need for appropriate/inappropriate appendage crossin’ this mornin’ for me. I mean, I gotta go pee in a little cup. Chances are I won’t miss, right?
Hope everybody has a good day.
Later Y’all!
What’s this then? Start the day the TMI way? If you’re peeing in cups, you should probably consider uncrossing things first, I believe that makes it easier.
Morning. Caffeinating. Sucks syntax.
The good: I woke to the fog I love so much.
The bad: It was tainted with eau de sqonque. Yuck.
The forest fire still smoulders, but so far, no one is fighting it. There are some hot spots still cooking, but they are all in areas that are already burnt. There’s no fuel available to spread, and we had 3/4" of rain yesterday besides.
More inainity as it develops…
Ah yes BBBobbio! Nuttin’ like the whiff of polecat whilst ridin’ down the road.
In other news… I just peed! :smack: Now I gotta get liquified cause in just under an hour I have to pee for employment. That looks bad. I should probably work on that sentence. Nah… it’s a lot more fun that way.
