One of the stories of Krishna - a romantic MMP

Back from errands. It was pretty easy - the WalMart had the quilt batting, so I didn’t have to drive all the way to JoAnne’s. Afterwards, I decided that I really didn’t want to eat out, so I ran by McKay’s (a small grocery chain in our county) to get something for a quick lunch. In the frozen food aisle, I saw a box of Gorton’s Battered Fish Fillets, and I decided I had a hankerin’ for that. Mind you, it’s not an item that’s on my normal grocery rotation, and I can’t recall the last time I had some, but it was what I wanted today. I also picked up some corn on the cob, and some Turkey Hill Ice Cream on sale.

As I was getting the fillets ready for the toaster oven, I noticed they were much smaller than I remembered. In fact, a box of 6 had a net weight of under 12 ounces. That’s less than 2 ounces per fillet, including the batter. That’s not dinner - that’s an appetizer!! And on top of that, they weren’t as tasty as I remembered. So, lesson learned - no more battered frozen fish. No loss - it’s not all that healthy anyway.

And here it is, after 1PM, and I still haven’t touched a boat cushion. But as soon as I finish this, I’ll bring them up from the shed and start measuring and cutting. Really. I will.

Probably.

Mark today with a Red Star, I got something done that I had been intending to finish for MONTHS.

Yay!. One of those niggling projects that’s not earth shattering, but you always say “I gotta get to that…”.

In celebration I went to Culvers and had a reuben and onion rings.

Yes, I’ll be at the gym after work.

We are going to the South Seas resort on Captiva Island, Florida. I’m all about the beach, sitting on the beach, snoozing on the beach, drinking cold adult beverages on the beach… We’ll be in Florida for a week then are coming back home to spend another week lazing around the house and hitting the local touristy stuff near home. Museums, art galleries, stuff like that.

My work life has been sooo busy for the last two years that this is really the first time I’ve been on a vacation that lasted longer than 5 days. The Elf and I are really, really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the congrats everybody!

Hi everyone! I’m off today because I’m back to my alternative work schedule, with every other Friday off. Woot! It’s nice to be able to look forward to a three day weekend every other week.

Sean, I busted up when I read your comment about “blowing kisses”. I can’t be the only one who caught that.

I was going to treat myself to a pedicure today, but the hubby decided to take my rig to work. It’s not that I can’t drive his pickummeup truck, but I just hate driving it. For whatever reason, I have a HELL of a time finding reverse in that thing. I don’t know why. I can drive stick shift, but his truck always gives me issues. I drove a standard transmission for a long time. In fact, to this day, I’m still looking for a clutch when I drive, even though I drive automatic transmission now.

The weather here is…sort of nice. We are going out on the boat when the hubby gets home. I was informed on Wednesday that we would be doing this. The sun is “sort” of out. It keeps hiding behind the clouds, then it’ll peak out for a bit.

Congrats to everyone with the raises and stuff. That’s great news. Also, congrats Swampy on acin’ your pee test and your physical.

Congrats Fae, on the upcoming nuptials and honeymoon.

I’ve got a load of towels to throw in the dryer. Better git, I guess.

I read this as “when I go guy batting,” and thought “I didn’t think FCM was that mean.”

That’s not mean. There’s no anger involved. It’s just sport. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the general idea. FDil is 17, so it will be likely that the judge will grant a petition made on her behalf.

I hope so. I know you’re annoyed with your son for not telling you what was going on, but you have to admire the fact that he’s trying to be there for your FDiL.

Those of you with the sick didn’t really need to share it. My tummy is acting up big time. I’m hoping it passes before the hubby gets home. I really don’t want to disappoint him and tell him I don’t feel well enough to go out boating.

Afternoon or whatever Y’all! I’ve been out at the pool. I figure since I’ll prolly be goin’ to work soon, I might as well get in all the pool time I can now. It’s nice out but really gettin’ hot now, so I came in and took a shower to get all the lotion goop off of me. ‘Twas nice though just floatin’ around in the pool all by myself. Tomorrow the plan is to pretty much spend the day out there. Da cave is clean, the grass is mown and there’s nuttin’ that needs doin’, so both of us can just relaxate poolside as much as we want. Also, it’s supposed to be sunny and hot which is pool weather!!! Some folks are comin’ over Sunday afternoon for a lateish lunch and to hang out at the pool too. I’m grillin’ chicken and others are bringin’ stuff to go along with it so that’ll be nice. Yep, we be pool bums this weekend!

BBBobbio if she’s seventeen, why doesn’t FDIL petition to be emanicipated? Seems to me at that age most judges will grant that. However it works out, I hope she can get away from the bum.

I’m hungry. I need a snack. Maybe popcorn. That’d be good.

Hi y’all! Hey, Taters, we have the same every other Friday off!

I’m so sorry, Picunurse.

I just woke up from a two hour nap. I have accomplished almost nothing today. But that’s what I had planned to do! So I accomplished sumpin’ after all! Hee!

Actually, I did make a pot roast in the crockpot this morning. It sure is smelling good.

I needed the nap, though. Around 3:30 Ernie started getting restless and whining, and try as I might, I couldn’t sleep through that. So I got up and let him outside, and he went to poop! Yay, Ernie! I’d rather get up in the middle of the night than clean up dog poop. I then went back to bed, but it was 4:30 or so before I fell asleep, then Mr Rebo’s alarm went off at 4:50, then he came and kissed me goodbye at 5:45. by then ALL the dogs were saying, “Mom, it really is time you got up and let us out and fed us, you know!”

So I suppose I should do something. Maybe I’ll tackle the picture project again. I’ve been going through my Dad’s old photos, and sorting them into categories and putting them in photo boxes. He had them all shoved into a dresser drawer, getting bent and torn. I’m thinking of making some collages and framing them.

 I am TRYING to be motivated and productive. It ain’t workin’. Well, I did wash and dry a load of towels and I fed and watered the dog.

I have promised myself that I will get in the shower at 12:30. It’s now 12:28.

I spoke to Mr. Taters about half an hour ago. We were discussing the weather going out on the boat. As we were speaking, I heard “Oh, shit…”. I asked what was up and he told me it was sprinkling where he was. The weather isn’t looking very nice here either.

We’re going to play it by ear and see what happens by the time he comes home. He probably won’t be home for another couple of hours anyway.

Off to shower.

Well, dinner is over; dishes are washed and/or in the dishwasher; leftovers are stowed.

And I’m beat.

And the food came out so-so. Which is better than last time I tried cooking… I just don’t have the natural knack. I managed to undercook rice for Og’s sake!

Tired. Going to sleep soon.

Special1 I’m sure the meal was just fine. If it’s any consolation to ya, my own dear mother, a wonderful cook, just cannot cook rice. I’m serious. This is a woman who bakes everything from scratch. Pie crusts that are flaky and buttery. Cakes so moist the almost melt when you look at ‘em. Wonderful breads. A roast that is so tender almost no chewin’ is needed. Yet, rice is either undercooked or scorched. One of those unfathomable mysteries of life. So don’t feel too bad about the rice thing.

In other news, popcorn turned out to be the perfect snack. I knew y’all would want to know.

Taters are you showered yet young lady? :dubious:

Rebo picture collages are a great idea. A way for your dad to enjoy all those photos and a way future generations can enjoy 'em as well. You get the good daughter award today.

Yes Papa Swampy, I am indeed showered and smelling purty.

I’m feeling slightly peckish. I should eat something, but nothing really sounds appetizing. I’ll have to mull it over.

Today is the second to the last day of school for my kids. Monday will be a half day, then they’ll have two months of relative freedom. My daugher will have homework over the summer (damn AP classes), but she’ll do okay. She’s most definitely burned out, poor thing.

We’ll need to buy a guitar for her this summer too. She’s decided she wants to take guitar lessons at school. I’m glad. Now, we just need to find a reasonably priced, good guitar for her.

Ooh! My tummy just growled so loudly that my dog looked up at me in surprise. :o I guess I should eat something.

Did you wash behind your ears?

Popcorn. Good snack.

Yup, scrubbed behind my ears, washed out my belly button, every spot of me is sparkling clean. I washed my face TWICE. Once with soap and water, and then with my facial scrub stuff. I should be glowing, I’m so clean!

What I need is a meal. I haven’t had breakfast or lunch. I’ve had three cups of coffee today and that’s all.

I learned pretty late in rice how to make good rice from scratch. Two hints…cook it on low and leave the cover the hell alone till it’s done. Also, after it’s done, give it a stir and then cover the pan with a clean dish cloth and then the lid for five to ten minutes. It absorbs any remaining steam and the rice is nice and fluffy.

Dang, taters, the kids down here have been out a month! Course they go back in early August.

swampy, you ARE wearing sun block, aren’t you??? :dubious:

I’m thinking a footlong veggie sub with cheese on an Italian herbs with cheese roll form subway. Mmmmmmmm.

Speaking of snacks, I have a bunch of molasses sugar cookies left over from a batch I baked a few days ago . . . I was in a hurry at the time and they turned out to be rather undercooked. I’m thinking of popping them in the blender with vanilla ice cream and see what happens. Will report back.

My kids always start school the Wednesday after Labor Day. Usually, they’d be out by now, but they’re also making up some snow days from the wind and snow storms we had last winter.

Food problem was solved. I made myself a strawberry jelly and butter sammich. I’m drinking Diet Coke to go with it. I could have had some tea, but I just had a craving for the coke.

So far, I’ve been good and have stayed away from the chocolate chip cookies that are sitting on my kitchen island. Their insidious whispering is getting to me though. Hopefully, I’m full enough now that I can ignore it.

Hey, thanks for all the hugs and good thoughts guys. I’m ok today. Here’s a picture of Michael and me during a happier time for both of us.

Jahdra & Mr Bus Guy, Max can’t see the water level in his dish, so he has to touch it. When the light in the kitchen is just right, you can see the prints of a one legged kitty walking around.

We wouldn’t! But he’s a big dumb guy. One of his better traits, is he can’t seem to tell a lie, so when he asked to borrow $80.00, he told hubby what it was for. Hubby was  and told him no way. He didn’t have the heart to tell him she was just a coke whore, even he figured that out.
I’m going to introduce him to a nurse friend of mine. She’ll treat him better than that.
