One of the stories of Krishna - a romantic MMP

Cool music, Mork! I really enjoyed it – you did a fabulous job! I just listened to it, and will probably listen to it again tomorrow. Do you have anything else you’ve put together available online? Because you have got some real talent there!

Morning all! Tuesday has begun, like for real, in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Mika – lovely story about Ganesh  And more warm thoughts for your brother – I hope things work out there.

Everyone else, appropriate wishes and oohs and aahs and stuff. But you’re all asleep anyway… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s after 9:30. I’ve been up since 6:45. And I haven’t got my coffee yet. :growl:
Off to finally get some coffee.

SpecialPerson, Tuesday has begun but only by 5 minutes here, so technically, that’s Monday night. And thanks for posting in the MMP. I’ve laughed at your comments several times recently. You’re lucky that swampy let you off the hook or you might have been required to pucker up.
**
Mork**, did you understand what that guy said in the comments about your music? Because that was all greek to me. You know so many languages.

Whoa, I did not plan on being up this late. I went to have a drink with Minister’s Lad (who is That Guy’s Roommate; I didn’t want to keep calling him TGR. We tease him about being a Minister’s son because he leads a lifestyle that is far from pure) and his cousin, who was visiting. Cousin was pretty done for by midnight, so Minister’s Lad took him home, then called me to see if I was still up for another drink. So I invited him over and he had a beer while I had tea and we chatted for a good two hours. It was nice. The thing is that I was ready to fall asleep when I got home, but now I’m wide awake. I suppose I’ll read some until I get sleepy again.

:: waves to H&R and SpecialOne, the only other people awake in the MMP at this hour ::

Since **swampy **is asleep, I’ll do it… Young lady, you go to sleep right this instance! Or I’ll have to carry you to bed and make sure you stay in it…

There.

I think some of his personality is rubbing off on me even without any physical contact… (well, OK, the last part would definitely **not **come from him. I guess I’m not totally assimilated yet! :dubious: )

H&R – You too… way past bedtime, even on the West Coast!

The “new” form of arranging marriages in India is similar to what we called “ir de vistas” in my part of Spain, “go see”.

Y’see, Iñaki and Patxi, they’d be at the market, yes? And they’d have been trading, tit and tat and tat and tit, and then they’d be having a chiquito, yes? Well, one chiquito each, cos one glass for two is kind of awkward. And Patxi’s son, he’d be there with Patxi. And Iñaki would say “say, Patxi, this son of youse, he is how old?” “Aw, fifteen barely, in a month, but I figured it was time for him to start doing man’s work.” “Ah, fifteen in a month!” and they’d talk about something else for a while. And then Patxi would say “say, didn’t you have a daughter? About my Txiki’s age, was she?” (Patxi may or may not have known about Iñaki’s daughter, but this was the way to breach the subject) “Well, yes I do, and she’ll be fifteen come spring! She’s still kind of young you know.” “Oh I wouldn’t know, I was 16 when I got married, and the wife fifteen. It’s not so young, fifteen… Say, your family, you’re from Santesteban, yes? Do you by any means go up to St Michael’s for the feast?” “Aaah, not usually, it’s a bit far and my mother is not so good in the leg… but who knows, maybe this year.”

So each husband would then go to his wife and tell her about the conversation, and if the wives thought it was a Good Idea, lo and behold, both families would be at St Michael’s feast! But if either wife thought it was not such a good idea, then that family would be celebrating St Michael’s day elsewhere. Anyway, the two families would run into each other, fancy meeting you here, and they’d make sure that the boy and the girl had some tasks to do together and sat together for the meal, and there would be dancing and singing like there always is at those feasts, so that if either had a good voice or good legs they could show them off.
And later Iñaki’s wife would ask her daughter what do you think of him, and Patxi would ask his son what do you think of her, and if neither said “NOOOO”, then they might or might not meet again (for sometimes distances are great, specially in the mountains, and anyway that’s what mail and people who get paid for writing it are for) within the next year, but in any case usually they’d get married the next spring, if neither had said no at any point.

(Chiquito: a very small glass of wine. And of course the feast could be at St Michael or wherever… so long as it was convenient for both families).
Sucks on the treatment your brother is receiving, 'mika.
And for you with the blue Ganesh, I’ve seen him “blue” (sometimes with a blue head and orange body) in older paintings but more kind of grey in recent ones. I think it’s a problem with the inks… did you know that the Hulk was supposed to be grey but they made him green because with the inks of the time, if they used grey he was just a dark blob? Same for the X-Men Beast and Nightcrawler being blue: the blue was originally supposed to be highlights on black fur (same as they used blue highlights on black hair), but the inkers were lazy and too much black doesn’t look good.

Page three already? You people have so much to talk about!

I went to the recruitment agency today, dropped off my CV and had a chat with one of the consultants. I’ve got to go back again on Monday to do all the tests and stuff, but by then she will have had time to read my CV and see what jobs they’ve got that I might like. The temping side of things is scarce as ever and of course she wouldn’t advise anyone to leave a permie job for temping…but we’ll see what Monday brings.

Last evening I managed to catch a few pics of our little stray cat. He’s been coming round to scrounge for food for a while, I must admit when I saw him I was shocked because when I last saw him he was looking remarkably well-fed and fluffy. Now he’s all scrawny and bedraggled. We nicknamed him Stanstead and have been feeding him twice a day for a few days now. I managed to get a worming tablet crushed into his food so I know he’s had that, now I need to get some oral flea treatments from the vet for him. He looks like he’s been in a few fights and I’m sure he has a few other injuries too, but for the moment I just want to get food into him.

He’s very wary and although he backs off whenever I go outside, he doesn’t run away from me any more and this morning he let me stroke his head. He did hiss at me afterwards, but it’s progress of a sort!

Well, technically it was ACBG who got Special1 (I like that!) off the hook bein’ as he said he ain’t through with me yet.

However, if I were sayin’ that to you, then it’d make perfect sense to me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mornin’ Y’all! I’m up and caffienated. It’s trying to be a rainy day in south Jawja. Right now it’s just sprinklin’ rain off and on but it looks like it’ll be rainy for real in a while. Yay! I plan to do some job search stuff today and do some stuff around the house so, let it rain I say cause I ain’t goin’ anywhere. Plus I put a pork roast in the crock pot to simmer away all day. Later on, I’ll do a little gravy for it to simmer in. Thus supper tonight shall be pork roast, butterbeans, summer squash, sliced tomatoes (bought some nice maters yesterday) and probably cornbread since I got me a hankerin’ for some. I expect to be muchly “appreciated” for this meal.

**Swampy **-- did you quote something and accidentally forget the closing [ /quote ], then add a sizable amount of your own text? 'Cos there’s a well known bug in the board software that will do that. You may be able to get back to the original text by “back”-ing your browser as far as necessary.

Oh, and good morning!

ETA: Whatever, it worked this time. Good mornin’ Special1!

Just so long as he doesn’t expect me to appreciate his doing that! :stuck_out_tongue:

And I think I’d probably be about as responsive to your proposal as Haze would be to mine… :o

You’re language (and your hours) really are weird, seein’ as it’s after 3 PM here :dubious:

Given that he’s not just in Jawja but currently in the occupation of searching for his next paying occupation, I’m reasonably sure that it’s morning for him. Specially if you define “morning” as “before I have lunch” - Lilbro’s idea of “Saturday morning” starts around 11am and lasts until 3 or 4 pm.

Since I wake up at the same unogly hours every day (unless I’ve got the flu or a very early plane to catch), on weekends I’ll be in WoSW quite early. Some of us early birds will have been prancing and dancing for hoooours, had lunch, be back from lunch… and then the people who’ve been up 'til the wee hours weren’t that wee any more start coming in and saying “yawn… morning…” and we answer “afternoon, actually.”

Speaking of planes, I’m going down to Spain this Thursday, so if I don’t post between tomorrow and Monday it’s not that I’m not talking to you any more - it’s that Renfe trains still don’t have 'net connections

But… Georgia is one hour ahead of me – it’s up there right next to Armenia and Russia!

What?

That’s Georgia - swampy and friends live in Jawja - a totally different state of confusion altogether.

I have a serious case of i-donwanna-go-to-work today - but off I go. Later, dudes and dudettes.

Mornin’ everyone! Well, it’s morning to me. I woke up an hour ago, put on a pot of coffee, and went back to bed. Weird dream of the night involved a old boyfriend and I roaming around a huge grassy park that was also a bar. I again had injuries to my arm - the inside of my right arm was covered with what appeared to be infected, scabbed over burns. Ugly. Would have been very painful in real life but they didn’t hurt much in the dream. We wandered around the park a lot. Then I was in an office building with some people, and one of them had left the water on all weekend and the owner was pissed off.

I need more coffee. Good morning, everyone, back in a bit.

Morning all! Or afternoon, to MMPers in Yurp and points east. I am caffeinating, and puttering before work today.

meli, don’t worry, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Mork, don’t worry, an artist is never satisfied with his own work.

Special1, don’t worry, when ACBG is done with him, I’m sure he’ll ship swampy over to you.

That’s exactly the part I’m worried about!

I’m counting on our politicians to keep making it too scary here for him… :stuck_out_tongue:

I SO want to be a fly on the wall while Special1 tries to explain it to the wife

Hey, if I like** Swampy** enough, maybe I won’t need her anymore… :dubious:

(Sounds like as good an excuse as any to get rid of her, at any rate… :stuck_out_tongue:
And you’re invited to be in the room; **Swampy **and you can fight for me. I know who I’d rather win, but I won’t tell just yet :D)

Can I be referree? I’ll award bonus points for creativity!
