Some dopers may remember my posts in late August, trying to help my girlfriend (a fellow doper) find a job in New York before her savings ran out and she had to return home.

Various dopers offered to help, communicating with me and/or my girlfriend by e-mail, phone and this board. For them, and anyone else interested, I wanted to put an ending on the story.
A few weeks after my posts, she found a stable job as a receptionist at a major corporation. The position allows her to pay the rent and stay in New York, and even provides her with health benefits. She is now happily living and working in Manhattan, realizing her lifelong dream of living in the Big Apple.
While no doper’s help directly led to her employment, the leads we received were very encouraging. Some even resulted in job interviews. The various offers and possibilities made us feel that we were truly working towards a solution. And indeed, we were.
To all who gave their support – even just encouraging posts – she and I offer our thanks. She may even choose to write about the experience on the SDMB. If not, please accept my gratitude, for proving once again that the Straight Dope Message Board is made up of the world’s superior people.
