Open up the windows in the MMP!

Alas, she doesn’t believe you all exist (you’re the latest in a long line of “imaginary friends”), despite being RL friends with some dopers. She likes to give me my own space.

She also spends 10+ hours a day working on and with computers, the last thing she wants is to spend her leisure time with a bunch of sophisticated Turing Machines.

So we are just enigmas to her?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by N.O,L. which shall be ham, N.O.T. sallit, green beans, rolls, and chawklit cake with a chawklit pee-kahn icin’. YUM! Today is Pentecost so we shall wear red (N.O.R.) shirts. I also have ush duty. Rah,

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence,

Happy Sunday Y’all! Happy Pentecost to those who observe.

Roxy had her first swim of the season yesterday when my daughter took her to visit my mom and sister. Of course, those of you who stalk my sis on FB have already seen the pics and video… That child cracks me up - she totally freaks when a strange vehicle pulls up in my driveway, but she had no problems at all jumping off the diving board! Her fears apparently have unique bounds.

Today, I will definitely attack the basement ceiling. If I can get it all cut in, that will be great - rolling is the easy part. There are a couple of small parts that need to be repaired and a couple of light fixtures that are a bit loose. So I have a few hours of labors ahead. It’s supposed to hit low 90s today - the cool of the basement will be a relief, for certain.

Onward! Happy Sunday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s grey and overcast today, weather app has no comment as it’s been temporarily uninstalled to make room for something else. Phone has next to no storage and is a pain in the arse, but I can’t be bothered to do anything about it.

Yesterday was busy - went to the gym for bootcamp and spin class, then home for a shower, then into town for errands and lunch inside at the nice Chinese place. Home again, made roast pork for dinner and the watched films whilst slurping margaritas.

Today is largely a day of slothage. I need to vacuum the floors, that should only take half an hour, and I plan on a long soaky bath later. 'im indoors is doing steak and chips for dinner tonight so I only have to decide what I want for lunch. Oh, and I need to shift stuff off the desk so it can get dusted and polished as it’s looking a bit manky.

Onwards, indeed!

Morning all. Was a bit worried that my kidneys weren’t getting me up, after all the liquids I consumed yesterday post soccer, and I was worrying that maybe I had messed up my system by getting so dehydrated yesterday…false worry, once vertical and in the bathroom my kidneys performed most satisfactory. Now need to go out and obtain the Sunday paper and take my medicines.

Probably like boo fae, today will be mostly slothage. Might water the lawn, haven’t had a drop of rain in over a week and with temps climbing to the 90’s later this week, probably it’s getting dry. We’ll see.

FCM, yeah on Roxy’s swimming day.

Boo, lovely reference.

OK, need to get neighbor-presentable and go fetch the paper. All y’all have a good day.

You ain’t kiddin’. My “sleep on the basement floor” plan largely worked out well, in that I got 4 or 5 solid, unbroken hours of deep sleep. What a relief.

Two slippery nylon sleeping bags, one on top of the other, will eventually yield one thin “mattress” underneath, and one huggy soft thing between you and some boxes, though.

I was also given the opportunity to be reminded that I need to scoop the secondary litter box, on the other side of the basement.

I’m past 40, I dunno how many more years of sleeping like this I got left in me! Frankly, I was surprised - and impressed! - that I could rest my bones at all.

Today is 66 F with a local hyoomidity of 80 % :confounded: and I am thoroughly displeased. Left my “nest” downstairs since, like Roxy, I may go play in the basement this afternoon. By which I mean derp around on my phone and hide from the heat.

I wonder what Wally World would charge me for a second fan …

No immediate plans for deheathenization, but I DO gotta call my mother for her birthday today, and encounters with demons - even if they’re getting more minor with the passage of time - counts for something.

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, supper in the crock, laundry in the dryer dry now (should fold before leaving in a bit) and ready for KP and to be sheveled to go to Dragon Park to hang with the heathens for a picnic. I’ll take Nelson with me so’s he can hang with the other heathen doggies. After that, it will be completing the Sunday chores and prepping for the week of extra hours ahead.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Gonna vacuum, then go watch the game with friends.

She just doesn’t want to catch a code from one of us.

FUBAR. And I hope you can eject soon.

Well, if she wears just this she can run through and be the Popsicle FairyTM

Good morning. It’s a cool 52 degrees with an expected high of 62. Not sure we’ll get there, as it’s cloudy out. We never saw 72 degrees yesterday and there was very little sunshine.

The kids came down with the grandkids yesterday. My son was unable to make it up yesterday due to some stomach issues but plans on coming up today.

We had a great time with the kids, they bought a lovely raised planter bed as a birthday gift and cooked a terrific meal. We played with the grandkids and socialized. My husband also committed us to another weekend stay for Zoe. They plan to drop her off on Friday and will pick her up on Sunday. I’ll have to find some activities for us and hope the weather gets nice too. It would be nice to take her to the Zoo. I’ll have to check and see if one still has to buy tickets ahead of time. I have a feeling that if that’s the case, then we’ll be SOL, because it will be a holiday weekend. No worries, I’ll find something we can do. I always do.

My injection site is still swollen and red, although it’s not nearly as angry looking as it was yesterday.

Once my son gets here, I have made plans for us to go to Wild Birds Unlimited and look at bird feeding stations. I have decided that’s what I want my husband to get me for a birthday. He was really stressing over what to get me for a gift, so I told him we’d go there and check out the bird feeding stations and get one with a squirrel baffle. We have a lot of squirrels around here.

I’m playing dinner fast and loose. We have leftover lasagna, so we’ll probably eat that.

I lurve that store!

I have a relatively squirrel proof feeder that also shuts off grackles and other large birds, so the smaller songbirds can get their turn.

Basically, the perch is attached to a small metal baffle, that swings down to block off the seed when something too heavy sits on the perch.
If they have that design, or something similar, I highly recommend!

It’s temporarily cooler this morning, so I put off any fan-buying purchases. Now I have a feeling that Future Shoe is gonna regret that decision.
It’s cool down in the basement, but the air is so still … it’s possible that another bout of retail therapy may be in my near future anyway.

But I did get litter (to clean the secondary pan - stinky-whew!!) plus an eye shield mask to hopefully help me sleep.

Meijer is also out of the same storage tubs … but as of last night had a few spare lids for that size, sitting forlorn on the shelf.

{ sigh }

You see where this is going, right?

Back to Wally World for their last, sad, lidless tub, plus sugar and soy sauce, and a Father’s Day card but they didn’t have anything that would work for my mother.

Then over to Meijer, where they had a lovely card (blank, but I know what to say) for my mother, plus lids for the tubs (grabbed one) plus kitty litter for the basement box.

I THINK we’ve solved several issues at once.

The new modem and old router are installed and working properly. We had to run to BestBuy for a WiFi signal extender - turns out the piano sits between the router and FCD’s desk (with a wall in between) and the metal soundboard does its damnedest to attenuate signal strength. But the extender is doing its job very well, plus it has an ethernet port on the side, so FCD is going to connect the router that was in his shop so he can network his 2 computers plus the printer. Which means drilling a hole in the wall, dammit.

Anyway, that’s all done and operational. I just finished lunch, so I need to change back into my grubbies and head downstairs. I need to remember to swap out my glasses - if I drip paint, which is highly possible, I’d rather it drip on my old specs than on the new ones. Always something, right?? And so I’m off to do ceiling stuff.

You win! :grinning::joy::rofl: :trophy:

Painting ceilings SUCKS!! I edged around the smaller side of the basement and started rolling - even with a long extension handle, it sucks! I’m taking a break, and I may go back down, or may not. Stoopit ceiling.

Yesterday was…well, yeah. A celebration of life is a wonderful idea, but it makes you miss that life that was so worth celebrating. I was a silent wreck yesterday but am making an effort to move forward today. I do not feel that I achieved closure. I feel that the wound that I so carefully covered to let heal was ripped open again. Maybe that’s part of the healing process, but I’ll miss him keenly and for the rest of my days. That’s all.

Hugs to you, my Mumper friends.

And to you, {{{{{{{{{{{{{dear nellie}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
And a :coffee: of :teapot:

Supper (slightly early today) was steak, baked russets, cauliflower, and onions-n-green beans. All very yum. Ice cream later. Chillage now.

FCD is doing a bit better. He took some naproxen and it really helped the pain in his knees - he’s actually gotten thru the day without napping! Tomorrow, he’s going to contact the knee doc, arrange for his MRI, and contact our family doc about the aquatic PT.

His dad is getting worse and worse - multiple mini-strokes a day, and he absolutely refuses to use his walker. We fear he’s going to have an episode, then fall, and that will be that. He’s supposed to be going for a driving test - if we’re lucky, it won’t be one of his lucid days and they’ll pull his license. Otherwise, I fear for anyone on the road in Ocala. :frowning:

OK, enough glum. I need to get back to work on the baby’s afghan.

I can’t type a response that doesn’t seem unnecessarily snarky, so I will simply send gentle {{ huggzz }} from way over here.

Psssssst! shoe, ya know that you can order fans from da Jungle. They have a large selection of box fans under $30 and even quite a few floor fans under $20. And you don’t have to get out of your jammies to shop. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{nellie}}} Sometimes, I think the celebration of life name is used more to try to fool ourselves into thinking death is a joyful event. At some point, you will grieve someone who you have loved.

{{{FC family}}} May your FIL have peaceful last days.

I went to the pic-a-nic at the park today, taking Nelson. He got to meet a couple of his buds, as well as a newcomer to the group. I dropped his leash when he spotted a large poodle mix puppy on the tennis court. Fortunately, one of the guys seated near me was quick on the uptake and snagged it before he got more than six feet. :stuck_out_tongue: They did fence kissies and both got into their play stances. Too bad Dragon Park doesn’t have a dog enclosure.
