Open up the windows in the MMP!

only thing of note that’s happening here as of late is we’re having a windstorm so we have to keep the windows and doors … its been going on since Sunday and to be honest were damn tired of it …

its supposed to be downright cold for this time of the year all this week … which is going to make it feel really miserable when it goes back to 90/100 degrees after the week after or so

The only good thing about it is it’s delaying the yard work in the backyard I have completely less than zero interest in doing this century …

congrats again on the soon to be grandson

but yeah there are few mixed-race couples around here who are very concerned with whats going on these days especially the Asian/Hispanic couple whos kids play with our neighbor kids… apparently one was grounded and wasn’t supposed to be over a few weekends back but slipped over without informing anyone

it was a few hours before anyone remembered to check next door …the snippet of what I heard as she was being marched home " you know with what’s going on against us you never ever leave the house or yard without telling else" poor girl had tears in her eyes …

I wish I could box up some clean, fresh prairie breezes and send them round to you, alas…

Just been stodgily cool and gray/overcast here all week. I don’t mind the cool at all, but unending gray days get to my mood and energy (such as it is) after a week or so. Good for the water table I guess. The weeds love it.

metal mouse, things were a bit better today (IOW, today didn’t totally suck). I’m checking out positions that would be a lateral move for me within the org, but I’m also checking outside positions. I really would like to retire from the company. I’ve outlasted managers / supervisors who came in like this before.

Mooooooom, you could make smoothies with the ripe 'nanners as the base. Congrats on the grandson!

shady, it truly sucks that kids that young have to learn hard lessons in racism. I hope that they grow up to be the change that society needs in that area.

As I said, today didn’t suck as badly. I knew that there would be a planned electrical outage here at home today for a few hours, so I turned the thermostat lower last night to make sure there was some residual cool for Nelson. Unfortunately, his sitter is in the same complex, so it wouldn’t have done any good to take him there. MTEMC installed an upgraded pole out front to service us.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

So The Senior Shouting Officer came up to the dumping loft and yelled at us. Of course it helps one of the people we have up there has the work ethic of a sloth with ADD(he only puts his full ass into half assing it). But whatever, I got beer.

Me, too.

Sorry about the BS, red. And good luck on the job search.

Howdy Y’all! Today was a blissful day of sloth and chillage. It was wunnerful! Even took a plunge in the cee-mint pond. Lots of back and forth via email concernin’ changes to worship services. Among other things, we will now have Communion in both kinds (intinction only), ushers will pass the alms basins durin’ the offeratory (they have been stationary, with one at the entrance and one at the exit), we can now sing and folks who have been fully vaccinated do not have to wear masks, even though fully vaccinated moi will continue to do so as I’m not yet all that comfy with the idea. So we shall see come Sunday what that’s like.

red sorry for all the irk bs.

MOOOOOOM congrats on the soon to arrive grandson!

Evening all. Most dramatic part of the day was tripping and falling over the wire I was using to charge my laptop (took it to practice to show the girls some travel pictures (with animals!). Landed on carpet and didn’t collide with any furniture, but my left big toe hurts life the devil when I bend it and my knees are sore…for 68 year old fat men, falling is never a small thing.

So anyway, got soccer practiced and Big Bowl O’Sallit consumed for dinner, so hopefully toe and knees will be less sore tomorrow.

FCM, things will work out well, I’m sure…have they decided on a name yet?

flyboy, whatever will you do with such munificent riches…seriously, congrats.

OK, late in the evening, so off to bed shortly. All y’all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to dump heave, and sort.

Ouch. Glad you bounced right.

I’m pretty sure our modem is dying. Multiple times a night, we lose all internet access, but when I cycle the modem, it comes back. So today, I’ll be calling them for a replacement. Stupit Atlantic Broadband…

FCD wants to go out for breakfast, so when he’s done in the shower, it’ll be my turn. Then off to Cracker Barrel, in the hopes that I don’t get soda poured on me again. I’ll be corraling Roxy much of today as daughter has to get the 3-hour glucose test, which I understand is a major ick. And I don’t know if they’ve picked a name yet. I do know they were going to wait till they knew the sex, so I’m guessing discussions have ensued.

OK, I think the shower is mine now. Happy Firday!!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear (As opposed to murky?) with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall betake myself over to the church house to take care of some church janitor Junior Warden duties. Then I shall return to da cave to loll about until we go to Sonny’s BBQ for a late N.O,L./early sup. I see babyback ribs in my future. YUM!

MetalMouse ouchie! Hope the knee and toe are better today. If the toe is all swollen and such get it checked out to make sure it’s not broken. A friend stubbed his toe by goin’ to the bathroom in the dark and broke said toe. There is now a nightlight in that bathroom.

MOOOOOOM for all the bad stuff folks say about ATT, they have been always great to me about modem replacements, and other internet woes. Here’s hopin’ you get an easy fix.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, woe and bother, alas and alack, I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. I suffer so!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Good morning, all! Cinnamon said it was time to wake up and get outside at 5:30 am. When a 13 year old dog says it’s time to get up, you agree with him. I’ll make up for the lost sleeps…sometime. Now, on to some food and then to the shop. I think I’ll be finishing building of 2 pieces today, unless I get slack-offy friday feeling.

Stay safe, everyone!

Afternoon, mumpers! I don’t need the weather app to tell me it’s pretty yuk out there, I can hear the rain on the windows while I’m sitting here. It’s not cold but not warm either, the kind of weather my mum would call “shucky” and I’d know exactly what she meant.

Bumba I haven’t been to the car dealership so no idea if they have a waiting room or not. I expect they have one, there’s nothing much else in that area apart from other car dealerships so I’d have to go armed with a Kindle and some tea to keep me going while they change the offending spring that’s apparently causing the locks to unlock themselves.

Mooooom good to know it’s a grandson coming, from Roxy’s day at the playgound she sounds like she’s ready to be a big sister already, I hope the novelty doesn’t wear off!

metalmouse ouchie! Good to hear that you avoided serious injury there, apart from perhaps a large dent to the dignity.

flyboy congrats on the win, anything that puts something in your pocket has to be a good thing.

missred sorry to hear about the work BS, I hope you find something else where you are properly appreciated for your talents.

Off to sort out problems for people who make more problems for me…and hopefully an early finish as it’s Friday. I have a bunch of icky jobs I don’t want to get started on, and a bunch of fun things I’d rather be doing than irk.

Oh, I loved mine! The kitties can let themselves in & out (and in, and out, and in, and out) without every fly and mosquito inviting themselves indoors.

Speaking of, the cats are out right now, although Monkey shoots back in every time a bus or particularly noisy vehicle goes by. He runs right to me for brief reassurance, then nonchalantly trots back out. It’s really endearing.

Warming up here in western Mitten State, and also, getting more humid than I’d like (which is “not very”) and the tulips have faded but the lilacs are starting up, so my corner of the world is delicately scented right now.

Well, not MY corner of the world, but I’m eternally behind on cleaning rattie tubs, and need to scoop the litter box.
Hey, I got the trash taken out, that counts for something!

Morning all. Toe is feeling much better this morning, can bend and put weight on it, so don’t think I broke anything. Just a warning to be more careful (first fall I’ve taken in about 3 years or so).

67F at 7am, heading for 86F this afternoon…might finally have to click over to the Air Conditioning, and tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter for soccer. May have to water the yard on Sunday if there is no rain in sight-and there’s no better than a 30% chance on one day next week according to the long-range weather wizards…

VanGo, not sure I’ve met Cinnamon before; give him a couple extra scritches from me.

FCM, hope you have a ‘dry’ breakfast.

doggio, I weigh somewhere in excess of 280lbs (128 kilos); I don’t bounce, I thud…

OK, have rescued the newspaper from the driveway, so need to do my puzzles and some house-irk, so everyone take care now.

Good morning, all. The in-laws got in last night for Fang’s graduation tomorrow. I pulled some barbecue out of the freezer, whipped up a quick batch of sauce (Eastern style, natch), put it in the crock-pot, and served barbecue sandwiches for dinner. Actually, by “served,” I mean, “set up a buffet, while Mrs Magill, Spike, and I went to Spike’s Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony.” When we got back, Mrs Magill set up a sundae bar, and celebratory ice cream sundaes were had by all.

Good ride this morning. The weather was pleasant, but the sunrise was kinda bland. I did see an indigo bunting on the bike trail, which I had never seen before. That was kinda cool.

Dinner tonight will be a quick hamburger stroganoff and a salad. I need to remember to pull the flank steak and rump roast out of the freezer today. Flank steak for tomorrow and rump roast and Yorkshire pudding for Spike’s birthday Sunday night. Actually, I’ll do that now.

For those of you keeping score at home, Mrs Magill’s numbers continue to improve. Her hemoglobin is up, and her platelets are now in the normal range. (She’s now allowed to shave her legs. She’s wearing shorts today.) One more treatment to go, then it’s just a matter of getting the chemo out of her system.

Have a good day, everyone.

On the plus side, I didn’t get a shower at CB. But I felt sorry for the 2 servers on duty - they were running ragged! Tho by the time we were leaving, more had shown up. The woman at the register was telling everyone that they were hiring!!

I fought my way thru ABB’s phone tree and got a remote modem reset, but I’m still waiting to do a chat. Had I waited on the phone, the hold was estimated to be at least 20 minutes. Nope. Nope. Right now, I’m #2 in the chat queue, so we shall see how that goes. I really wish we had an internet alternative here - and I don’t consider satellite to be a viable alternative.

Enough whining for now… :stuck_out_tongue:

Good morning, one and all. I stayed in bed later than normal, although I woke up several times during the night because my arm was so sore at the injection site. It’s still swollen, too. I’m feeling a little icky; achy, tired, etc. I did take some ibuprofen to help with the swelling in the arm. I am hoping as the day progresses I feel a little better. I have stuff to do and I don’t want today wasted because I’m lying around like some big baby.

Hmm, I’ve noted internet (Xfinity) cuts off during the night too. It couldn’t possibly be the modem. It’s not even two years old, and I didn’t get a cheap one either. At least I hope not.

I’m glad your toe is doing better today, Metal Mouse. I miss the days of taking a spill and jumping right back up like nothing ever happened; or just dashing up or down the stairs. Since breaking my ankle a few years ago, I try to be careful about how I’m placing my feet. It still gives me issues if I’m up on my feet too long, or attempt too many miles. When I start feeling twinges on the outer ankle I know it’s time to quit whatever activity. Except now, I’ve got issues on the left side too. Ten or fifteen years ago, I would have healed right up. I’m 58 for Pete’s sake, and some days I feel like I’m 85 because of all the injuries. Still, I push myself, harder than I should, probably, because I’m a stubborn git. It just takes me longer to finish something.

We’re getting together with the kids tomorrow. I’m looking forward to seeing them and the grandkids. I always have a great time when the kids are around; there is always a bunch of laughter when we’re together.

I’m so glad **Mrs. Magill’**s numbers continue to improve.

We’re supposed to reach a high of 68 today. At the moment it’s a little foggy outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be bright and sunny with a high of 72. Not too hot; not too cold. Just right.

I am also uncomfortable with taking my mask off, even though I will be able to do so in a couple of weeks. I may be vaccinated, but I know others aren’t. For the most part, people are still wearing masks here and there is still a requirement to do so in most places of business around me. I see a few outliers, but I don’t typically go to those places. I want to see higher vaccination numbers around here first and a continued downward trend of cases and hospitalizations. No sense in courting disaster, so if I have to wear my mask a little longer, it’s no skin off my nose. I’ve kind of gotten used to it.

The flank steaks have frozen in such a way they’re impossible to separate without thawing completely. I guess I’ll be grilling two tomorrow.

Sometimes I buy cube steak for chicken-fried steak. I wrap the ones I’m not going to use in plastic, and then put them into a zip-top bag for storage in the freezer.

I also buy bacon five pounds at a time. I lay out a sheet of plastic wrap and put four rashers on it. Then I roll them 180º and put on another four, roll the eight slices again and put on another four, then wrap the last of the plastic over them and fold over the ends. I usually end up with about seven parcels. I put one parcel into the fridge for ‘immediate’ use, and the rest go into the freezer. No unthawing the whole thing!

I had wrapped the steaks individually and put in a freezer bag flat. My mistake was giving the bag to a seventeen year-old to put in the deep freeze. He had set the bag upright, and one had folded around the other.

Hooray for Mrs. Magill!

And thank goodness it’s Friday. I’ve got all these plans to tackle my linen closet, which will probably dismay everyone in the household because they “get” to help. My husband frequently complains about the amount of stuff we have, but has so far been unwilling to part with said stuff, so I’m taking it slow. “But we might need that later, overly!” To which I respond, “True, but if we haven’t used these old curtains we tore down six years ago since we last stuffed them in here, the chances are low we’ll actually need them.” Were it possible to do so without losing my husband, I would cheerfully donate or throw out about 40% of our possessions.
