Hubby’s flight to ATL for his granddaughters wedding was canceled due to a back up from all the bad wx earlier in the week. So he got up at 0330 and went to the airport for nothing. He will get a full refund from the airline but still. So he has decided not to drive as he is too tired so he is not going. He will send a nice monetary gift and they will just have to understand.
Short staffed today so I was in the front office when my clerk introduced me to the customer she was helping who is my boss’es boss about 6 times removed up the chain. Thank God I didn’t say anything before I knew who he is. I was able to tell him it is very expensive here and he said he is partly here to do something about that ie more salary I hope. He said he thought DC was expensive but he and his wife went to the grocery store yesterday and could not believe how expensive it is. Would be nice to get a big fat raise.
We seem to be getting a lot of wind from the direction of Arkansas today.
The wind seemed to start up about 5am here. At least that’s what time the Schnauzer got scared and got in bed with us. Hope it dies down this afternoon.
Mom, I don’t know about freezing the soup, never tried that. We seldom have more than a couple of lunches worth left over. I’m having the last of it for lunch today in fact.
Dinner tonight will probably be fried or BBQed chicken from the Winco deli. I have to go there anyway to pick up the meat and cheese tray for tonight’s First Friday ArtWalk.
Wifey and a couple of her friends from the Sketchy Artists group are showing, and hopefully selling, some of their paintings at one of the local venues tonight and I have to pick up the nibbles. Somebody else is supplying the wine.
The only reason I asked about freezing - **FCD **doesn’t usually like eating the same thing 2 days in a row. I may give it a try, tho. And maybe make a smaller batch. We shall see how it goes.
Howdy Y’all! I spent the mornin’ visitin’ with unc and skulkin’ around cemeteries in Heard County, Jawja. I went to the cemetery where my grandparents (mom’s folks) are buried and to another cemetery where a bunch of other relatives are deposited. I like walkin’ around and seein’ all the old grave stones and monuments. Looks like everything for unc and the nursin’ home will be permanently situated soon. The POA will get done this next week and with that done, what’s needed to get VA stuff etc. can happen. Been a somewhat strange week here in ye olde home towne. I will be glad to get back to da cave tomorrow.
Well, fine then, I’ll just talk to myself! Catfish filets with fries, slaw, hush puppies and some fried green ‘maters from the local country cookin’ [del]hog trough[/del] buffet place for dindin. Sis has gone to get 'em cause we’s hongry now. YUM!
Made it to the Big City and back. A branch hit my windshield and it’s chipped. I haven’t driven through rain that heavy since I don’t know when. It was like a fire hose. Fortunately the road was pretty straight. I just kept the shoulder yellow line in sight and prayed that no one in front of me did anything stupid.
At home, pretty much everything is fine. I have some pots knocked over. One tree lost its blossoms, but the other is stubbornly hanging on tight to its flowers. Go tree! I like the flowers.
My SSDI application is all submitted and now I wait for everything to process.
I made a cheddar brat for lunch and it was nummy. I am thinking about another one. My dog almost got this one, but I fended him off.
Supposed to go to CA this weekend for another treatment on Monday. I am so tired that I just don’t feel like it. Decisions, decisions. I’ll give myself 30 minutes or so to decide.
I might make some Indian food tonight. I got the ingredients a while back, but haven’t been cooking much of late. Need to use them up though. We’ll see.
It’s been a quiet day. I got up early, got some stuff done, irked, took a nap, now I’m back at irk. Meatballs for dinner.
The agenda for the weekend is mow the lawn, TAXES, and maybe get some mulch down in the strip out front. Last year I told Sah-son to put some newspaper down first and he didn’t listen, so weeds started growing through the mulch. This year I will insist he put paper down first, if he had done it right the first time he wouldn’t have to be doing it again.
Congrats **Nettie. **. Nice severance too. Best of luck finding something better.
I had an eye dr appt today and since glaucoma is in my family I was glad that was ruled out. Spent a bundle of money though. My vision plan sucks. I will submit a super bill and see what I get back. Just another reason not to live in a remote and isolated place. When I pick up my new pair I will insist on a script so I can try the online creaps . I took two other pairs to reuse the frames which is what ran the bill up so much but live and learn. Had not been in almost 5 yrs. Only recently decided I couldn’t see as good as before. Picked out a really cool pair of new frames and can’t wait to get those. Hubby is gonna help pay the bill. He is good to me. And Thank God I have the weekend off.
Congrats on leaving them behind Nettie and best of luck on finding your next step.
Just took a nap, which I promised myself I would NOT do. I’m trying to get my sleep schedule fixed. Oh well. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight.
Trying to chase the kids to bed. Same as every night about this time, IOW.
Long day is now the next day. Long story short — I got nabbed by Learning to work with a group of new hires today/yesterday. Which meant I couldn’t attend stand-up. Which HR decided disqualified me from the “Pirate Gear” contest. Which inflamed several co-workers to the point that two of the winners tried to give me their gift cards. I refused. Basically because I did it just for me. And also because I enjoy seeing others hate HR as well.
For anyone who wants a picture, PM me an e-mail address.
I’m up too early, been up for a while.
Like Sunny I have been trying not to nap in order to get a normal sleep pattern. It’s not working very well but I have been doing better at night - getting 4-6 hours sleep instead of an hour and a half to two hours.
I started taxes already this morning, something I probably shouldn’t be doing when I am only half awake.
It’s a chilly 36 degrees outside, supposed to go up to 59 today.
In addition to getting my taxes done, I also want to get some yard work done this weekend. Tomorrow might be better as it will be a little warmer.
I think a bit of cooking too, have some meals ready to heat and eat for next week.
I have to check out an email I got saying he got a grant from the state and he needs to click on a link to accept or decline it. The problem is, the link doesn’t work, and the link to an email address to ask questions doesn’t work either. I don’t know if the email is legit or not. I probably can’t do anything about that until Moonday.
I think you already have my email Ruble, so a pic please.
If the thermometer outside my garage is correct, it’s TWENTY-NINE-FREEKIN’-DEGREES!!! Who’s responsible for that??? Rumor has it we’ll see low 60s today. Once it gets close to that, I’ve got a dozen petunias and a dozen gorgeous snapdragons to plant in the pots on the back porch. I wanted impatiens for the front planters, but I guess it’s too early in the year for them at Lowe’s, so that can wait. And it looks like my Chinese Lantern plants have come back, so yay!!
I woke a bit after 3 and I drifted in and out from then till 6:30-ish when I just gave up. Higgs has been fed and I’m caffeinating. Apart from the planting, I’m going to make a pot of veggie-beef soup today and I’ll get the laundry done. Sometime this weekend, we’ll put up the last of the wall panels in the shed, I think. Hard to know - **FCD **is going to run the power line thru the garage attic and down to the basement, and that could take a lot out of him. We shall see. I’ll have to help, but he’ll do the worst of it because that’s the way he is.
Happy Job Hunt, Nettie! May you find a good fit at a good pay rate!
My mom and sis are back in Balto - the ship arrived within the hour. They sped along to Norfolk, then stopped to have someone taken off the ship - rumors ranged from heart attack to dead body, but they’ll never find out for sure. Exciting way to end a vacation, and I’m sure they’re freezing their Caribbean cruise butts off!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 35 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 66 and N.O.S. for the day. I shall head back to da cave in a little while. I’ve enjoyed seein’ mom, sis, the bros etc but am ready to be home.
I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I shall purtify and head homeward.
blirf. Up too early on my day off. I have walked the dog and that is it so far. Looks like first thing after getting properly dressed is a trip to the grocery store. There is no food in the house. Dammit. I don’t want to go anywhere. Early is best though I guess. So that is my plan. Then housework and laundry. Never ending.
