Same here. Some guys are innocent children at 12, others like me decidedly were not.
HPV also protects both men and women from some types of throat cancer, which is no fun either.
I personally believe it should only be mandatory for legal sex workers, but if I had kids, I would have them get it.
I live in a high teen pregnancy state. Girls can and do get pregnant at 12, 13 or 14.
I think the youngest I read about was a 11 yo. girl who was being sexually abused from an early early age by a live-in uncle and his friends.
Co-ed sleepovers we’re never gonna happen in my girls pre-teen and teen lives.
I talked til I was blue in the face to them. Got the old roll-eyes many times. I just kept yakking.
But boys need the same safe sex talks early and often. They’re the other half of the pregnancy.
I have little to no experience with gay teenagers. I’m assuming like any pre-teen or teen, rules, responsibility and obligations need to be stressed. And if they’re bi or trans or any other, same.
All you can do. Unless you lock them up and they never go out of the house.
Probably unnecessary clarification: I had to look that up before being 100% sure that it’s the HPV vaccine, not the virus itself, that possibly protects against some oropharyngeal cancers as well as cancers of the reproductive system.
I pushed my teenage son to get the HPV vaccine for this reason.
