Orange Is the New Black Season 3 [Open Spoilers]

It’s here! It came Thursday night. Yay!

It felt like a good ep to introduce the crew. I was happy to see that Piper didn’t make an appearance till 12 minutes in and her time was pretty minimal. Her and Alex seem to be heading for more of the same drama, though.

Boo the clown! Flaca the goth/emo makeup artist! But oh, how could they take away Morello’s job as driver and give it to freaking Doggett?! OK, I know why…but it burns.

Though admittedly some of the flashbacks felt a little obvious. Nicky’s for one–though it was very touching. And Healy’s…it felt a little cliche to explain his women issues with “crazy mom!” But what can I say? Still loved every minute.

So they didn’t find Vee’s body?

I’m three eps in, and so far it’s been good. Not great but good. Waiting for something much bigger to happen. They do seem to be doing a good job with the back stories so far.

Guess not, Sampiro. I was wondering about her, too.

SykoScotty, I watched more, and I feel a bit like you, too. I don’t think it’s as great as season one or two. But I still love it!

I really liked the whole season. Not as much as the other two, but not that far behind. The first episode is my favorite. I think I cried the whole time. It was very moving and touching, but also funny and sweet.

They know she got run over by cancer lady and she dead, so I’d say they did.

First rule of survival in a Call of Cthulhu campaign: If you don’t have the body, it’s not dead.

I wonder when Red will confront her family about losing the market?

I’m sure the authorities had found Vee’s corpse. They just don’t see any reason why the prisoners need to know.

As for letting a prisoner drive a vehicle off the grounds, as long as they’re accompanied by a guard, what’s the problem? Though personally, I’d hate to be stuck in a vehicle for even a brief amount of time having to listen to Pensatucky babble on and on.

I’m on 10 now, and I feel similarly (though I think so far ep 6 is my favorite).

Also loved Boo’s defense of Doggett’s abortions. It’s been interesting to see Doggett’s trajectory.

I was agreeing, and cringing, the whole time on that little spiel. A horribly cold truth, brutally delivered, and…warmly received.

Most of the backstories are just interesting, but Nikki’s and Susanne’s (previous seasons) are hard for me to watch. Susanne’s especially because she’s still a little kid.

Only 2 episodes in to season 3, and I’m not really sure where Bennett can go with his storyline. He seems to want to be a stand up guy, even in his flashback, but he fails when it matters. He can’t let the baby live with Dayanara’s family because that sitch is messed up, he can’t stand up and own the child because he goes to jail and the baby goes to Dayanara’s family, and he can’t let the baby go to Mendez’ family because that’s the cheap escape route that (I think) he’s starting to realize he always takes. I’m starting to really not like him a whole lot.

I binge downloaded season 3, but I’m spacing them out to one a day. Today I watched episode 2, but I have a question on Ep 1…

The end of season 2, Boo seemed to me to be setting up Doggett for some sort of mind fuck, and IMO, well deserved. This season, so far, is she just continuing the set up or is Boo somewhat softening towards Doggett?

That’s how it seemed to me, too, initially–a joke or a mindfuck. But now it seems like they’ve dropped that whole “lesbian convert” thing and are focusing more on showing a genuine friendship between the two. This also seems to be a far gentler Doggett than the shrill messiah-esque figure we saw in season 1…

I wonder why they need an inmate to drive the bus at all. Whether it’s picking some new inmates up, or shopping, or transfers and whatnot ; there’s always one or two hacks in the bus. And there has to be one watching over the driving inmate anyway. Why can’t they do the driving ?

I never really thought it was a mindfuck. Boo has lost all of her former friends, so she’s making a new one. In the process of making a friend she’s also toning down Doggett’s insufferableness. It’s win-win.

I wonder when (or if) we’ll find out what the deal is with Red’s silent friend whose name I can’t recall.

They need the inmates driving SO THAT they need more guards in the bus. This is a privately-owned business, and the more employees they HAVE to have, the more money they can demand from their employer, which is the state.

I’m on episode five now. I’m taking it more slowly than I expected. I really blasted through the episodes last year and I figured I’d do the same this time, but I want them to last.

I like that there’s more insight into Boo. She’s been annoying and crude and I haven’t much cared for her, but now that her character’s being developed I like her much better.

I’m so disappointed Nicky’s gone! I’m resisting looking at IMDB to see how many episodes the actress has listed.

Healy’s looking like a good guy; not the pervert from last season.

Heh. Ain’t that true of most people ? :stuck_out_tongue:

we do get to see some of Norma’s back story.

I hope they bring Nicky back. I still wonder what Poussey did to get arrested.
