Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

One “regular” spell and one domain spell. That’s why the chart says 1 + 1. The domain is bonus spell related to the clerics deity.

Ah. I should read things.

So, you want to go up a level?

Spells are ranked in power, from first to ninth. First are relatively weak, ninth gives you things like ‘Wish’.

You have to be very high character level to cast a 9th level spell. For a cleric, 17th level.

Implosion. Bang. Target dies. Find a new target. Keep doing it for a while.

By the way, 4E’s dead, 5E is in playtesting, Pathfinder is outselling D&D.

I like Pathfinder.

Edit: Nice callback, Hal.

YES!

Wait, do you have candy?

Way back to 12. That’s almost time travel.

Note the title of the comic this update: Minimal Resistance.

Another edition already!? That sounds like they’re following the Eve and Larry business model: Releasing a new edition caused their sales to plummet, so the solution is obviously to release another new edition.

4e’s been out for a few years now. I imagine they’ve made note of all the problems people have found and it’s time to fix them.

The problem with that sentence is that it implies that 4e is D&D.

No. The problems that they’ve found is that their sales are not what they want them to be. Their fix is, apparently, “have everyone buy all the books over again.”

Although if you go to their website and read any of the awful Legends & Lore articles, heaps of pandering appear to be involved.

Anyway. I know that Rich said he was not planning on moving OotS to a new edition, but I’ll be very disappointed if some kind of edition joke doesn’t show up soon. This whole 3.5-Pathfinder-4th-5th edition mess just begs to be mocked with jokes.

He did publish a short comic like that, in Snips, Snails and Dragon Tails. It’s called Edition Wars: Invaders from the 4th [del]Edition[/del] Dimension

Others are commenting on the change as well.

And the process as well.

New Strip’s up.

Sounds like he may be planning to keep the phylactery himself as a hedge against Xykon.

Interesting… so that’s why there were no goblins there, only summoned creatures. I thing Redcloak may be getting ready to make his move.

If possessing the phylactery would give Redcloak a hold over Xykon, then why hadn’t he exploited it before Blackwing took off with it? Was it just not the right time yet? Or will he not be telling Xykon it was found at all?

Xykon still has more raw power. If he knew Redcloak had it, he could take it. If however it’s a secret…

It took me a while to realize what 190.23 meant.
That Berlew is a freaking genius.
