Show of hands - how many of you saw that this thread was bumped and immediately navigated over to giantitp to read the latest strip without even reading Hal’s post?
Thought so.

Thought so.
Loved Elan’s, “Oh, sorry, guys. I was just thinking. It’s this new thing I’ve been trying.”
<raises hand>
And I just checked it at 11pm last night or so-no new strip at the time…
Standard operating procedure whenever I see this thread bumped is to go immediately to the OOTS current comic.
waves hand
Well, not this time, but every other time the thread gets bumped.
And for the first time ever, it was the OOTS fan page on facebook that alerted me to a new comic. They usually post their “hey, new comic is up!” notification a good day or two after the comic is posted.
I, for one, don’t do that. When I see this thread’s been updated I come here.
Because there’s usually a convenient link to the new strip.
Yeah, me too. I never want to risk getting spoiled for what’s in the latest strip by reading the post announcing it.
And Hal, that was my favorite throwaway line in this strip, too. It was also a clever reminder of Tarquin’s chilling side under his fun and charming exterior.
sigh Ditto.

Er, the quote Hal mentioned wasn’t said by Tarquin. Which one did you mean?
speculation (possible spoiler, if correct)
Someone on the OOTS forum suggested that the prisoner in the last panel might be Haley’s father. I think it’s not totally unlikely. His hair was beginning to turn whiteeven a few years ago.
I’m really not seeing that one.
First, even aside from the hair color, the beard style is completely different. Sure, OK, it’s an unkempt prisoner beard, but without that, what’s left to compare on? Second, her dad’s a high-level rogue with extensive leadership experience. Toss him in the arena cells with a bunch of other prisoners, he’s going to organize a mass breakout before you can say “lockpicking with improvised tools”. You want to hold onto a guy like that, you toss him into a maximum-security dungeon, and then seal off everything but a three-inch hole for air and food with six feet of stone.

Crap, that was totally unclear. I meant that I enjoyed the throwaway line about the phoenix paté repeating, and that Tarquin’s cheerfully saying that the liver needs to be cut out of the living phoenix is a reminder of his ruthless side under the fun surface. Sorry for the confusion!
Not quite what we were hoping for, but still fun.
Hmmm. There’s a thread on prison rehabilitation programs in GD. Maybe I should crosslink this strip.
I have to say, Belkar has good taste. Lidda is indeed hot.
(oddly, though, the picture of her dodging a ray doesn’t seem to be online anywhere)
“It Does Beat Scissors”, hah.

There’s another picture I’ve also been unable to find online. It’s the one from Dragon #359, page 116.
Ah, found it. (NSFW?)

Ah, found a page for the PHB art. Not sure why those didn’t show up in Google Images for “Lidda”.
I didn’t even know they had names.
I just noticed these posters on the GitP website, (my new wallpaper). They seem to contain almost every named character in the OotS saga, including very minor ones. As far as I can tell though, there is no Ian Starshine. Seems like too big a name to either be an accidental omission or be left off for no reason. Anybody got any thoughts about that?
