I like the fight roster. Belkar fought “Eviscreratus”, ha! We also get “Offpansio”, and “Notseenicus”, at #4 and #5, cute.
I also like the first fight between “Red” and “Blue”, at the bottom of the guard’s clipboard.
I suppose there’s no way out for Gannji and Enor, is there?
Probably, assuming it’s an already established character. The only other possibility I can think of would be O’Chul.
And I’m collecting the points for what I called back in post 1692.
Is that O-Chul’s Irish cousin?
It won’t be him, for two reasons: first of all, I doubt a supremely honorable paladin like O-Chul would be killing possibly innocent people in some despot’s arena; and second of all, if it were O-Chul, the guards would be talking about his incredible constitution rather than his incredible strength.
Oh, and here’s your points.
I agree, for the reasons you mention, that O-Chul is very unlikely. But he’s the only other possibility I can think of.
For authentic Latin, it should be Eviscerandus or something similar, but the joke is nice.
I can’t see that Thog would get thrown into the arena, though. Him being one of Nale’s associates and all, I’m sure Tarquin would have something special in mind for him.
Possibly. But just throwing out a theory, suppose Tarquin captured Thog by himself. He might decide to try to put Thog into the arena in the hope that Nale would then expose himself in a rescue attempt. This would backfire when Nale is to self-interested to try to rescue Thog and Thog is too good a fighter to need rescuing.
thog not fighter. thog barbarian, only two levels of fighter. fighter level three is stupid level, thog not take.
Link leads to previous comic. 782 is here
Who are #'s 8 and 9? I can’t make it out.
Something like Vermilius and Ceruleanus (aka “Red” and “Blue” as noted above).
Of characters we’ve already encountered, I can only think of Thog or Girard who could even possibly be the unseen Champ. But I’m guessing Rich is making a sly joke with the comic title (“Not Yet Met His Match”) and this will be a completely new character.
But hey, I could be wrong.
I wonder if Roy is going to use that move his granddad taught him during his sojourn on the Celestial Plane.
It would seem to me that a greatsword through the heart would work against non-spellcasters as well.
New strip: 783 Cold Blooded - Giant in the Playground Games
Actually a bit sad.
Yup, but until we see bolts hit, something could still happen to throw off the expected result.
Nope. Rules of drama - the two of them were important enough characters for us to feel sorry for them, but not important enough to earn a miraculous reprieve.
Heh. They went from having a quarrel to having lots of them.
