If we’re also including breakfasts, can I make a comment?
Eggs seem to be the default in American (and Canadian) breakfasts, so can we make eggs optional? I cannot eat them, and since so many places put eggs in pride of place (how many places start their breakfast menu items with, “Two eggs, any style”?), might we change things?
I’m thinking, “Two strips of bacon or two applewood-smoked sausages, toast with jam, home-fried potatoes, coffee and juice, $8.95. Add two eggs any style, for $4.00 more.” I could get into that breakfast; I like everything in it, and the eggs are optional. I wouldn’t add them, I don’t have to, and I’d still get a nice breakfast. But apparently, you cannot get such a breakfast without two eggs, and if you try, you’re told that there’s no reduction in price if you don’t get the eggs.
I don’t go hungry–most diners I’ve been to for breakfast also have pancakes, which I’ll have with home fries and bacon. Or even if it’s not on the menu, most places can put together a BLT.
Under those circumstances, here’s my breakfast:
Fruit cup
BLT with home fries
Apple pie with a slice of Cheddar
Coffee and orange juice.
