Oscar watch-along thread

Loved Mo’Nique’s acceptance speech.

Colin Firth–yay. Now I need to see The Education.

So many films to see… Haven’t even managed to see Up in the Air yet. All I’ve seen is Avatar, Star Trek and Up. (I don’t go to movies much).

I was amused that she thanked her lawyer before her husband.

Nope, that’s all they get (plus cinematographer Gordon Willis got one, too), plus the Thalberg award winner John Calley. Very classy to give them those legends 3 minutes total. :frowning:

I picked Avatar for pretty much all the technicals, but so did everybody else, probably.

Meh, they usually leave the spouse for last.

Actually, I thought that was the rule; for awards going to multiple people, only one person was supposed to speak.

Good God–Sigourney Weaver is wearing a table cloth and Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing an abomination.

The clothes whores joke was not funny.

Ah ok. That is lame. I wasn’t agreeing with your Hughes ire, but this is terrible.

Remember the scene in Chaplin when he returned to get his lifetime achievement award? That was amazing, and I like to think real life was just like that. And, what would it be like nowadays? Offscreen.

The costumer designer needs someone to pick out better clothes.

Nice tribute to those who don’t do “costumes”, though.

And Charlize has 2 roses stuck to her tits.

Is it just me, or was the costume design winner a pretentious ass-hat?

Not a rule-rule, but a good rule-of-thumb, since those 45 seconds really evaporate quickly.

Every year something reminds me of the dichotomy between the audience in the theater and the audience at home. I thought the French producer of “Logorama” was funny as hell. The audience in the theater let out a collective yawn.

Exactly. The Lifetime Achievements were bumped ostensibly to cut the running time of the show.

Nah, just British and slighly unimpressed

Wow, the Oscars are being sponsored by Nissan Ramen noodles?

It’s been a long long time since I’ve seen any television commercials…

Well, she already has 2 Oscars, so I guess it’s all a yawn to her.

Alec and Steve in bed is not funny, either.

Well, she started by saying that she already had two Oscars, which is terribly unclassy when I’ll bet that some of the other nominees had none.

Simulpost, so I’ll note that were I a member of the Academy, I’d make sure not to nominate her again.

Alec and Steve in bed was hilarious! I loved the slap.

It always amazes me how uncharismatic Kristin Stewart is.

To be replaced by a montage of horror movies. I’m not seeing the logic behind the decision.
