Our new kitties need names!

Well, we have 2 new kittens. We were expecting to get one, but when we went to the shelter, the gray female “adopted” my wife, and the orange male “adopted” me.

We need to work on names! The shelter is in the town of Melbourne, so I thought we might go with Australian names - but we are not locked into that theme. The male is about 8 weeks old, and the female is about 10 weeks - so they are not related and the names don’t have to match.

The felines in question:
Awwwww!

Orange male = Boyd
Grey female = Chelsea

PS - congrats on taking two!

Well, it’s an English name, not an Australian, but what about Tobermory for one of them?

This classic short story, by H.H. Munro(Saki) is one of my two favorite short stories in the whole of literature. You could call him Toby for short, as is done in the story.

For paied names you could do Victoria and Albert, or John and Yoko, or Brad and Angie, or Westley and Buttercup, something like that.

TAZ (for Tazmanian Devil) would be my recommendation for the evil looking orange kitty. He looks to have the same face as one of the evil gremlins in that Speilberg flick.

Gray kitty is too cute. I don’t do cute kitty names.

We once had a rather rough looking orange male cat like that.

His name was Scratch.

“One of two” and “Two of two”.

Sand and Ash ?

Scratch and Ash?

I’ve already had an Ash and a Chelsea in the past. All other names are in play.

Ginger and Pepper? Or is Ginger too girly for a boy-cat? Cumin?

Name one of them Poops!

(you will save some other cat the humiliation down the road)

Just don’t name either of them John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
That’s my name.

ZOMG and SQUEEE!!

I think everyone should have a cat named Schrodinger. To keep with the theme, name the other one Godel.

(I have had cats, I have never named one Schrodinger).

Kooka and Burra?

Cesare and Lucrezia :).

(looking at the ears on that orange cat…)
his name is Spock.

Well, it looks like the cats have names! I had suggested the orange boy be named “Fry” after the Futurama character. But “Leela” (and “Amy”) were not likely to work for the girl. I told this to my friend (who’s wife used to work for the BBC) and he suggested going with “Fry and Laurie”. Since my wife loves “House”, that stuck!

Tom and Lucy. Tom for the tom cat and Lucy because it works well with Tom.

If you want Australian names, you want Bruce and Shazza (or Sharon, but Shazza is the nickname.)

Or Russ and Kylie.

Too late alas.

Actually, Kylie is pretty good! We’ll consider that if Laurie doesn’t take.
