Wow, Bobbio, I’m sorry to hear that. Hope VWife is all better real quick-like. Good thoughts and prayers headed in your direction.
It’s like this, LOUNE. When you say “I’m all nice and shit,” it creates…hmmm…a smidgen of disbelief. Which makes one think twice about adoption. You should, instead, be practicing your biggest fake smile and be saying things such as: “How can I be of service this afternoon, madam?” Of course, we’d probably laugh at that too. ::Giggles::
On a more serious note, sounds like what Michigan was like when my brother graduated a few 25 years ago. He wound up moving to New Jersey and living at his in-laws’ for a while. His first couple jobs were crappy, but he eventually got into a very good career. And he was a liberal arts graduate too. Have you looked in Ohio? Not too far from home, but at least in Columbus, the economy isn’t awful (not necessarily great, but definitely better than Detroit). And the cost of living isn’t ridiculous. Peace Corps sounds good too, though.
Hope you’re feeling better, Hank.
Congratulations on the pitting, Kalhoun. We’ll all live vicariously through you as we’re unlikely to be victims. (I can see it now: "I pit RandomMMPer because s/he was just a bit too nice, dammit!) Whatever.
I nominate smallninjachef for LILI’s baby. Which reminds me…have you started to talk about names? Never too early!
You’ll want to avoid being like my brother, whose son was named the day after he was born after we sat around the hospital room making a list of various name combinations. I didn’t win.
But I like what they named him, so it’s OK.
Congrats on the labor win, MBG. I know you put lots of work into it.
Oooooh oooooh oooooooooooooooh, I almost forgot! I had this big enormous majorly important meeting today that I’d been dreading for months (it’s the culmination of the stress I’ve been living with lately). I was all prepared (which made me eerily calm yesterday), but got very nervous and ick the hour before the meeting. And then it went AWESOMELY SMOOTH.
It’s kind of scary, really. There were well-founded reasons for me to be paranoid about this meeting and we worked really hard on being prepared, but still. My boss told me I kicked butt.
And the colleague who helped me out the most in preparing told me I did a really good job too. So YAY!!!
So, as a reward, I got to go look at plants. YAY!!! And did I mention…YAY!!!
It’s almost Friday!!!
