Our Visit to New Orleans, or a What Hath Katrina Wrought MMP

OK, I know I was complaining about the post-dinner appreciation comments, but I think I prefer those to this type of post-dinner TMI comments! :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad things are looking better for your mom, gotti.

I think those of you who’ve been sleeping well have been stealing sleep from me. I’m feeling a bit more rested this morning, but it was drug-induced sleep last night so I’m a little groggy today. But at least I got a good night’s sleep.

KeithT’s company is having a dinner tonight for anyone who worked on a project that got patented or trade secret status. He worked on a trade secret so he’s invited. So I’m heading out to the middle-of-nowhere, MN. Which he does every day so I shouldn’t complain about the drive, but he drives out and back against the normal rush hour flow. I’m going to be driving out of the city at 5pm with everyone else who drives out after work. Woo and hoo. It’s going to be a blast I’m sure.

It is cool about the dinner and $$ that he gets for this though. Well, mostly cool… they didn’t plan the $$ too well: they bought company stock to give him (and everyone else getting an award) right before announcing that quarterly profits were lower than expected. So the current value is about 80% of what they said this award would be. :frowning: Don’t you think they could have waited a couple days to buy the stock for their employees, knowing that they were releasing earnings?? :smack:

Days off stink, because they end and then you have to go back to work.

yawn Due to a certain pom I am boarding who has a deep seated hatred of cats, I have been up since just after 5:00. It’s becoming more than irritating, and I may have to give the owner a time limit on how long he can stay. It would be bad enough if it was just the one pom, but it has been turning into a full out brawl every morning beginning around 3:00 and ending with me getting up and scruffing one or two just to get them to shut up. Since my alarm is set to 6:00 I am less than a happy camper.

At least the sky is already light, even if it is another overcast morning.

I also forgot to say yay for gotti and mom!

[Btashii** my pommie girl’s full on nickname is Tascha Pascha Flower Face Girl, while her registered name is Mojo’s Kodiak Red. I am now curious as to what your childhood nickname was…? I know that I had a big handful of nicknames when I was growing up, none of which I feel safe disclosing here…!

Thanks for the information Nava, I found the album on the itunes store and am currently downloading it, again, thank you very much!

Well, I need to get the kids off and running, more later!

taxi I live to enlighten other’s days. :stuck_out_tongue:

I forgot to mention earlier that I am resuming my duties as nanny to JoeDawg the psychotic chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah for the next few days. His daddy is out of town on bidness for a few so I said I’d take care of the little [del]demon spawn[/del] angel. If he were half as bad as he likes to think he is I’d be in real trouble. Anywho, he’s all fed, been out to do his thing and is now happily situated upon the sofa, his favorite place to be whilst at da cave. He will most likely come out with me when I go out to the pool in a while. He likes to lie under the shade of the gazebo with his bowl of ice water handy. Of course there will be a bag of his favorite treats handy for munchin’ should the need arise. That means he’ll stare at the bag, look over at me, stare at the bag, look over at me, rinse wash repeat, until he gets a treat. After all, when he’s here he’s on vacation. Oh and not to mention countless games of “vicious beast” wherein he lays his ears back and bares his teeth at me whilst I do things such as grab his tail and ears and snout. Good for hours of entertainment that!

Nava purty, burly angel is the exact description of me!

Glad to help, kai

[Sally Field hat] You LIKE me! You really, really LIKE me![Sally Field hat/off]

Thanks for the heads up. I shall go and tend to the shame of it all.

Hi, all. I finished up the [de]drivel[/del] [del]begging for money[/del] congressional testimony at a not-too-awful hour last night and slept pretty well, so I think I shall be functional today. At least I hope so; I still have tons more deadlines facing me in the next couple of days.

First, good new on your mom, gotti! Here’s hoping everything turns out exactly the way it’s supposed to, i.e. she never has to worry about it again!

Exciting news: In a couple hours, I’m going to get my hair all chopped off. Well, at least cut short. See, I’ve been growing it long because I’ve always liked my hair long; but it’s starting to drive me nuts, getting in my eyes unless I fasten it back so severely it gives me a headache after a while. And then I still have wispies. I haven’t completely decided on the new style I’d like, but my hairdresser gives really good cuts – she gave Lapin Blanc a terrific one not long ago – so I trust her. To a point. So we shall see. I haven’t told Papa Tigs that I’m getting it all cut off; I wasn’t even going to tell him I had an appointment, but he answered the phone when they called to confirm last night so I had to at least tell him I have the appointment. We’ll see how long it takes him to notice it; I don’t plan to say anything to him, just wait and see! Care to make a wager on whether he even notices it this evenig?

What a lovely pitting, Kalhoun. You must be so proud.

Time for lunch. Today lunch doesn’t contain french fries. Aren’t you all proud of me?

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone!

As far as the results, though, I’m sure she’s have been much happier if the doctor said “Oh, those wacky x-ray techs had a pizza party last week, and it was pepperoni on your mammogram!”

She said she’d keep me abreast of any changes, and I told her to nipple that in the bud.

Hey all.
Since my time on line is limited, I wall be skimming only, so forgive me for not chiming in but please accept my perpetual hugs, "ewwww"s, pats-on-backs, finger wags, etc etc etc to be administered where and when needed.
When I come down to the puter, I’ll update my blog first, then pop in and say “hi”.
Tigs - the only reason I wasn’t in a chair was that they didn’t have one that was the right height or width for me. They did have one put aside, but another patient was ready for it before me. But I sit a lot now. In my wheelchair. On a hard cushion. Ow.
That’s all for today. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Good to hear from you, rosie. Keep us updated!

I am so very, very ill right now - I think the burrito I got from the school cafeteria yesterday was secretly poisoned or something. Gah. :: crawls back to bed ::

MMMMMMMMM… White cheddar Cheez-Its[sup]TM[/sup] are so nummy! And they don’t turn fingers orange cauze they’re white!

BioRosie glad things are goin’ better for ya. I’ve been readin’ your blog thingy to keep up. I’m all [del]nosy[/del] concerned like that.

Haze college cafeteria food is like grad school. It’s designed to make you suffer so the real world won’t seem so bad.

Good to hear from you, Rosie!

Glad to hear the good news about Mom, gotti.

Not much happening here today. We’re so sloooowwwww… I did have a few hours work this morning, but I’m done until somebody gets back from whateever trianing he’s attending.

The conference was pretty cool yesterday, lots of technical thingies. But our set-up people didn’t use my equipment stands! I know they got built, but they ended up just setting stuff on the (carpeted) floor. Whatever. And they set one piece of equipment upside-down! Dumbasses. I can just see people who know what it is saying, “Wow, look at that company. That’s so stupid.” <sigh>

So my friend and I found some main booths, and then we headed back, snagging all the freebies. Lots of candy, pens, calendars, and little toys. I got a little penguin that winds up and walks across the table, and a ball that lights up when you bounce it, and a mini Caterpillar front-end loader! Good times!

Ok - off to surf some more.

Yay! There is labor peace in the land!!!

We basically agreed to everything with my drivers today. There’s some 'i’s to dot and so forth but the basics are done.

So, 2 years of labor peace, but then they have the clear message that this is their last contract, then we contract out all their jobs.

Oh, and great news gotti!!!

Rebo does the mini Caterpillar work? I mean can you do stuff like scoop up paperclips with it and move ‘em around? That’d be so jake! Think of the hours of fun scoopin’ up clips, staples, rubberbands, M&Ms and all other kinds of stuff!

MBG I forgot to say yay on the labor contract stuff! I predict beerverage consumption this evenin’.

Hey! Some college cafeterias are better than others. In fact, I noticed a huge jump in quality when my university built a new cafeteria; the food was probably as deserving of “appreciation” as your stuff, Swampy. However, none of those shenanigans were going on between cafeteria patrons and staff.

Put in my notice of resignation today, and the pseudo-boss took it well. Probably going to head down to Tarzhay after work to get me some new socks and underwear; I hope that my entrance fee rewards me with something suitable to my needs. No pom pom backed socks or giant underpants for me!

I’m home, my back hurts, and the doc and insureance compnay are still bickering, so no drugs.

Rosie’s walkering! W00t!11!

Congrats on the pitting, Kalhoun.

bobbio, since Lili is a great cook, and Mr. Lisslar runs a dojo, how about ninjachef?

MBG, congrats on labor peace. If they give any problems, tell me and my army of cyborg lemurs will DESTROY THEM ALL!!!

Haze, you ate a cafeteria burrito? Eww. I had a friend in college who only ate Captain Crunch for a semester.

Rebo, freebies rock! That was the best part of working in a drug store.

swampy, JoeDawg has you trained well. Maybe we should call you swampbutler from now on.

GAH!!! Why is it that when you have work that has to be done RIGHT NOW the databases all decide to stop working simultaneously??

Me, I’ve never been pitted…<sigh>. But I see it’s only Mr Moto. He was born crabby and petulant, so perhaps it doesn’t count?
Hello, all. Am busy today, but tomorrow I plan on doing, seeing, saying NOTHING. Then work the weekend–3 more weekends to work, and then my new job starts. (June 13, for those who care). Yeeha!

Hope everyone is fine, well and good. If not, please get better however you need to.
