There’s a guy in my department who, for some reason, wants his Outlook attachments to show in the header of his e-mail instead of as an icon in the body of the e-mail. I know this can be done by sending the e-mail from Excel/Word but haven’t been able to figure out how to do it by starting a new e-mail and attaching the file. Somehow I did it by accident this morning but haven’t been able to re-create it so I can tell the other guy how to do it. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
I suspect he’s got the ‘use Word as your email editor’ option switched on; with this option, the attachment appears as a floating icon in the body, without it, it appears as a small icon in a box in the header panel.
Thanks, but that’s not it. I can’t get it to show in the header panel (except the one time I did it by accident) either and I don’t have ‘use word as your email editor’ switched on.
And this is in a new email (i.e. not a reply/forward message)?
Actually, it also appears to be related to the default mail format; when set to plain text (as opposed to RTF or HTML), attachments should be shown separate from the body.
In my Outlook 2002, Rich Text messages are the only ones that have icons floating in the body. HTML and Text have attachments where they’re supposed to be (:)) – in the box.
Yep, the rich text/plain text is the control. I never would have thought of that. Thanks.
