Ow, My Hangover, Or How We Became Catholic: An MMP

I’m still watching Jericho, Puggy. And Lost. I watch Jericho to laugh and laugh and laugh; this is a show that vastly benefits from the snark on TWoP. The folks there even translate the Morse code each week. And this week, according to the ads, we’ll finally learn who Hawkins is! I’m voting for him being an Interpol plant – the actor who plays him is a Brit, and my fondest wish would be for him to break out his normal accent! As for Lost, can you spell i-n-e-r-t-i-a? Besides, I want to find out what that stupid black smoke monster is. Yeah, I have no life.

And speaking of inertia, I’m afflicted with a massive case this morning. Of the “an object at rest tends to stay at rest” form. If someone could give me a good hard shove to get me moving, maybe I’d move to the “an object that’s moving tends to continue moving” variety, pretty please?

No more snow here, thank heaven. Not that it’s warm or anything, but at least it’s not cold enough for the stuff that’s gonna fall out of the sky to freeze in crystals. Or in any other form. ::crosses fingers::

Hey look, it’s a Wednesday. Now, I don’t have much time - [del]they’re hot on my trail[/del] I have class in a few minutes - so I have to make this quick.

rosie, too much cute. I never thought I’d say that, but there it is.

As for the snow, I think global warming has made you all wimpy when it comes to winter. I remember snow in April being common when I was a kid.

Tel, why are you working on your day off?

Hi, scout!

Later everyone! zip

 You mean there’s a different message weekly? I didn’t know that!

Yeah, it’s a sci-fi soap but what else is there on Weds night. (I need a life.)

I’m working because the other girl couldn’t find a babysitter for her daughter today. However, no one mentioned this to me. The only reason I know about it is because I read the note my boss left on the other CPA’s door. I could have just waltzed out yesterday without saying anything to anyone. None of them bothered to, oh, *say, * “Hey, we’re going to need you to work.” Since no one said a word about it all day, I went to the other CPA before I left and asked if they needed me to work today. “Of course,” he said.

“Why did no one ask me, then?” I countered. He merely stared at me like I was an idiot.

Isn’t it their responsibility to ask me to work if they need me to work more? Had I not said anything, they probably would have called me at home today. I wouldn’t have been able to come in, though, if they called me after Mom left. I have no other way to get to work and that won’t change until I can get a vehicle, which won’t be for a few more paychecks yet at least.

</whine>

Yup, it’s a different message each week. I’m glad I don’t understand the Morse code, though, since it’s basically a dead giveaway to each week’s episode.

And according to the Morse code purists, they’ve been doing a much better job of speeding it up and dit-dahing it more properly in recent weeks.

Friend’s idiot sister in law had her bail hearing today. $150,000. And it is very unlikely a bondsman will touch her because she is a serious flight risk. Supposedly the amount she stole - including liquor and lottery tickets - is up to over $100,000. I doubt very much if her parents can come up with that much money to get her out.

Evil me - I keep wondering what is going to happen to the hockey jersey she bought. I would be glad to give it a home…

It is threatening rain here - of the non-solid variety. I need to go to the store for laundry detergent, but I have a feeling it will have to wait for tomorrow. If none of ya’ll have tried the Cheer detergent for dark colors, I highly recommend it. I use it on black clothes and Mr. SCL’s scrubs; they don’t fade at all. I hate it when black jeans get that horrible grey look…

I need to go clean up the area where I was doing the scrapbooking. Happy Hump Day, everyone!

It’s raining here. I was going to do the laundry, but I don’t like going to the laundromat in the rain. The floor is muddy, the carts are wet, and it’s humid enough in there as it is.

rosie, too much cuteness.

Tel, the CPAs will slowly regain their humanity after the 15th. It can take until May, but they get there. /voice of experience

Nava, banning alcohol ads seems extreme (just like banning cigarette ads). Is it just paid advertisements, or does it include wine reviews, etc?

I sat down on the couch to read, suddenly there was a cat on my lap… and I spontaneously took a nap. Warm and fuzzy feline=sleepy.

Except this morning at four-thirty, when Aerin really, really wanted to tell us how much she appreciates us. “Mrrrooow! Mmmmrrrrrooow! Mrow mrow mrow! Mrow mrow mrow mrrrooooW…” Sound of cat being thrown violently off the end of the bed
And now to wash dishes, make salsa, and change the sheets.

LiLi if you wouldn’t make salsa on your sheets you wouldn’t need to change 'em. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m tahred! I mowed, edged and weed whacked four yards, mine included. Then I cleaned myself up and was gonna just sit, read the Dope and veg but I got a phone call from the cable company reminding me that I needed to turn in my old converter box and get a new converter box. I could either go down there and do it myself or schedule an appointment for a cable person to come out and make the switch at no charge. Since we all know how reliable that is, I decided that the call was a sign and that today was the day I was meant to switch my converter box, so I took it down to the cable company. I was in and out of there in fifteen minutes! Can you imagine! It’s like a miracle! I should have prayed to somebody waitin’ on a miracle or two for sainthood cause that would have counted, for sure. Bug man is due here any minute now. He said he’d even spray out in the yard for fire ants this time around. Like that does any good with the dang ants but still, I appreciate the gesture.

Hope everybody with an ick or booboo is feelin’ better.

BioTigs did you ever motivate? If not, then, get off your butt young lady and get busy! I mean now! Don’t stomp your foot at me! Just get busy!

Howzat?

Of all the condiments that should never, never be brought into the bedroom…

Well, wasabi would be worse. “Here, honey. Hold still”.

MamaTigs, I’m pretty big on inertia today, too. Although I have done my chores. I’m contemplating a before work snack. Probably involving salsa, or my 300lbs of Trader Joe’s goodies.

I’ve told the story many times of the time I was cleaning jalapeno peppers, and stopped to drain the lizard…

         :smack: :smack: :smack: :smack: :smack: :smack: :smack:

Honey, that’s why latex or neoprene gloves are so cheap.

I’m lounging around in my department’s lounge, funnily enough. The weather is gross. I’m thinking about baking something warm and comforting to make me feel better when I get home.

My friend was just telling me a funny story about how his family got an extra lamb roast this Easter because his uncle was shaving a ram while thinking it was an ewe and accidentally ended up castrating it. :smack: He quickly decided it would be best to put it out of its misery so they ended up with two lamb roasts, but my friend said he could barely bring himself to eat it because every time he took a mouthful he would think about the circumstances by which said lamb had ended up at the table and wince.

We’re s’posed to be getting rain any time now. Any time now…

Class went well last night. I put underglaze on my humongo planter and saucer set - 5 colors just daubed on randomly. After it’s fired, I’ll decide whether to put clear glaze on the outside or just let it go as it is. I’ve also got to decide what I’m going to plant in it. The other part of the class, I made a smaller bowl that will be fired in the raku pit. It’s not a very good piece, but it’ll serve its purpose, so there’s that. And for tomorrow, I’m supposed to bring in a random design drawn on a sheet or 2 of paper. She wouldn’t tell me what I’ll be doing with it - I’m guessing it’ll be the base of another work. We shall see.

Tonight, we’re going to try to finish the drywall. Pretty much all that remains is 3 big sheets and a couple of small patch pieces. It ought to go up pretty fast. Which is good - I’m just dragging today. No more weird dreams, not that I’d tell you folks as long as that pervert **Ellen ** is around :stuck_out_tongue: It was just one of those nights when I apparently didn’t sleep well.

So goes my life. tarra, I’m in the potential juror pool for a year - starting March something. I think it’s just for the county court and so far all I had to do was fill out the form saying whether I would or wouldn’t be physically able to be a juror. This is only the second time I’ve been this close to a courtroom.

**rosie ** - that was too, too much. Thankfully, I’ve got too many animals, or I’d have headed to the shelter for a baby kitty or three…

Ok, I would like to point out that LiLi, Bobbio and Haze have posted stuff that is way more TMI than I have posted in a long time. So, see, I ain’t the only one! So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, there’s a slight difference there. There’s TMI that makes you go “Ew, dude, that’s just way more than I ever wanted to know or picture.” Then there’s TMI that makes your dangly bits seek asylum in your ribcage. Those three fall very firmly into the latter category.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go find a long pair of forceps.

Look, I didn’t say that we use salsa for non-food purposes, okay?
Ow. Thinking about that makes everything hurt. Ow ow ow.

I can’t catch up!!! Wah!!

I didn’t have internet access until after lunch. Yesterday I had to leave early and meet the electrician at the house. We had a partial outage because something shorted out. But the only damage was the bill, which was only $114. Woo-hoo!

Anyway, I’m really busy at work but I didn’t want y’all to think I fell off the face of the earth or sumpin’…

Hugs, kisses, chocolate - whatever you need - it’s yours!

Minds out of the gutter, now!

That was a good anti-inertia kick, Swampy. Thanks. Alas, it didn’t make me get my work done, but it did get me off my butt to go run a couple errands before my doctor’s appointment. Then afterwards I went to go get a prescription filled, and the nice lady at the drugstore always checks to make sure they have the meds before sending me on my way – and today they didn’t. I guess this is where the philosophy my mother taught me of “cast your bread upon the waters” pays off – she called three other drugstores, including two from competing chains, before finding me one that had the meds so I wouldn’t have to drive all over town looking for it. Since I’d just filled the tank at $2.79/gallon, I appreciated it. ($36 to fill the gas tank! Aaugh!)

Unfortunately, the drugstore she sent me to was very well stocked not only with my medication, but also with the baby malted milk eggs that have been this year’s Easter candy addiction for me. I’d managed to resist the baby dark chocolate Cadbury eggs at half off at my regular drugstore, but they had a whole big shelf of these malted milk eggs. So I now have ten bags of baby malted milk eggs.  Papa Tiger was horrified, but they’ll last me months – I buy candy post-holidays and have it during the year when I get cravings, which means I still have one unopened bag of candy corn from last Halloween. Yum! Maybe I should alternate candy corn with baby malted milk eggs? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Okay, now I really am going back to work.

Hello, all. I am back from the library. I called in for Friday at work (RN) because my husband had to go to Ohio because his aunt died. His dad is no longer strong enough to drive that distance, and his mother has never driven on the highway.

Also, he was going to be my babysitter for the AM, because the older two get on the bus at 0645, the youngest’s bus comes at 0830. My sitter is not available in the morning and her mother(my back-up sitter) is in Iowa, settling HER mother into assisted living. I think God is telling me to not work on Friday. Nobody was going to be home in the afternoon for any length of time. It just wasn’t meant to be. I haven’t heard back from work, yet, though-I had to leave a message.

It’s still raining out there. Ugh. Enough already with this crappy weather.

We took a vote and decided against drywall. Yay! I had a bag of sketti sauce in the freezer, and it was duly consumed over vermicelli (the pasta, not the worm) with sliced mozzerella. Yum.

I’m going to go to my studio and finish the last few pieces that need underglaze, then finish loading the kiln. There will be firing this weekend.
