From one online review: *The lusty lady is a real peep show. Put in a quarter, peep for 10 seconds. The booths are gross. There are Kleenex boxes stapled to the walls. But it seems like a good place to work as a dancer. Nobody touches you or anything. The girls kind of operate in big glass cases. Many lovely women work here. That said, this joint is pretty filthy and full of stinky, nasty-ass characters.*Sounds nice, the sort of place you’d take your date to…if you were Benjamin Braddock.
That’s a possible. I just realized that I’m actually staying up in Ballard that weekend, so no big deal to head down that way (in fact, I may go kayaking on Lake Union beforehand), so if the Ballard area or the University area is more favorable for people then I’m good on that; basically, anywhere I can use public transit or catch a ride. I mean, not to make it all about me or anything…well, no, actually, it’s all about me. Anyway, I will defer to those who actually know something about the city to select an appropriate venue, and hopefully one that does not have Kleenex stuck to the walls.
Our regular Tuesday night trivia venue is in Ballard. That makes it (a) easy for you to get to, (b) a known location for Seattle regulars to find easily, and (c) a small piece of SDMB culture in which you can be included. Obviously there won’t be trivia there that night but it’s still a passable little Irish pub.
Alternatively, the standard Ballard tourist destination (in terms of “cool Seattle institution”) is The Locks. It’s a city park, so there’s no beer, but the Lockspot is right by the park gates and has pretty good grub.
Is Aug 16 still happening on Whidbey? Is Aug 24 in Seattle definate? I live up in Port Townsend and I would get a kick out of meeting some dopers for the first time.
You sold me at “…little Irish…” Unfortunately, the last word wasn’t “lass”, but as long as they have a good stout on tap and Black Bush on the shelf, I’m in. Time? Late afternoon/evening is best for me, but I’m flexible.
Sorry, I just saw this. I can go pretty much any date in Seattle, with a couple days’ notice for work coverage. No car, so it’s pretty much Seattle or . . . Seattle for me.
I think 6pm will work for me, but my schedule’s in flux at the moment (rehearsing a play; things change day to day), so I won’t know for certain until the end of the week. As of right now, I’m planning to be there.
ACK! Just now found this thread!
But I’m moving Wednesday from Bellevue to Kent (buying a house finally) and I’m up to my ears in cardboard and dust. I’ll hope for another one late, though. I want a full report!
